How clean is your house

I'm decluttering and cleaning today. Home alone so treating myself in between chores with an episode of How clean.
Series 7 episode 2 and I can't believe the state of the fridge. Can't understand how it can get like that?
I'm watching random ones not starting from the first one. Just on YouTube.

I'm decluttering and cleaning as well today. I used to love How Clean is your House. I'll have to take a look at that fridge. Sounds grim.

Can you see the pic now? Actually looks like blood there but it's dark. 🤮

I've never watched that. Maybe I'll start!

My son moved into a rented flat a few years ago and apparently the people before had got it into a terrible state. The fridge had got so bad that the people had bought a new one and left the old one outside on the landing 😬 Then the new one got just as bad!

Luckily landlord had done the whole place up before son moved in.

LushLemonTart · 17/05/2025 15:23

@Lins77 it's so easy to give it a quick wipe. No excuse nowadays with all the potions and wipes we have.

I can be guilty of finding a squidgy cucumber etc the odd time. But these fridges on here are a major health hazard.

I'm off to clean the bath and then the kitchen floor now before another episode. The kitchen is a small galley so doesn't take long. I have one of the vileda buckets that spins the mop pretty dry so cleaning floors is much easier. I should just do it on hands and knees really seen as it's so small. But naaah 😅

I used to love Kim and Aggie!!

That photos makes me feel a bit better about my own house. I'm packing for moving house and I'm slightly ashamed by the state of long hidden corners and skirting boards.

smallstitch · 17/05/2025 15:30

It’s quite clean today as we have visitors for the weekend.
Usually, it’s not as clean as I’d like it to be - the kitchen surfaces are always wiped down/floor mopped, toilets clean, beds made etc, but when I’ve got people coming and I do a more thorough clean, I look more closely and notice things like grubby door frames, splashes on kitchen cupboards etc.
I definitely could be more thorough with my cleaning efforts but I’m nowhere near being featured on tv.

Yes, I can see it now. It's revolting.

Nothing to add except that I read this thread title to the tune of How Deep is Your Love by The Beegees and now it is stuck in my head

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/05/2025 15:35

Done the housework after only 2 hours sleep.

LushLemonTart · 17/05/2025 16:03

@smallstitch oh I'm the same. Dh does a lot of cleaning but he knows when I've got visitors coming. Family and close friends it's ok but less close I go full clean. And hide lots 🤣
Although with the decluttering we've been doing there's a lot less to hide tbh.

Bath is sparkling and kitchen floor done.

I love that show. Whenever I need some major motivation for a really thorough cleaning I watch an episode or two.

This is my morning for sorting out the kitchen.

fixingmylife · 17/05/2025 16:07

I find using a pomodoro timer helps me do the housework. It's 25 minute timer with a 5 minute break. It helps to keep me to keep the focus.

I do something similar though it's more like 20 mins with a 10 minute break!

My home is spotless everyday.
No clutter no mess.

ItsUpToYou · 17/05/2025 16:12

Watching that while cleaning is a genius idea. What channel did it come on again? I’m going to follow your lead!

ZebraPrintt · 17/05/2025 16:13

Clean wise it's not too bad but as a mum, tidy wise the house is currently upside down :) all gets tidied at night

Similar mind - I read it to the tune of How Deep is Your Love for Me by Dru Hill. “How clean is your house for me? Tell me what you wanna clean…” 🎵

Lins77 · 17/05/2025 16:15

I don't know how people keep their houses spotless all the time. Maybe if I lived alone I could manage it . As it is, I'd have to follow people around all day cleaning and tidying behind them, and since I work full time that's not really very practical.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 17/05/2025 16:16

Ours is mediocre I’d say.
we keep on top of general cleaning but not great at getting in behind stuff often so plenty of dust lurking in hidden places.

2 kids and 4 cats so things can get dirty pretty fast if we let things slide too much.

DH has run the carpet cleaner around today and the water was grim. he does do it fairly regularly and the carpet didn’t look visibly bad. Scary!

It's a home not a show home. I hate visiting pristine houses. I can't relax. Most of my friends are like me. Clean but homely.

Watching one now and there's dcs. That always makes me sad. Series 5 episode 6.

I love the way Kim has a go. She'd never get away with it nowadays. "You lazy sod" 🤣

I like the fact you see the team.

The woman on this one is the double of a friend of mine. It's uncanny. Df is spotless though.

Right now? Pretty damn clean! I've jusr spent all day cleaning it, because we've got guests coming for a BBQ at 6:30 and it was a sty. Not that untidy, but in need of a serious clean. It's probably cleaner than it's been in about 2 years tbh! I'm knackered and my back hurts. Off for a bath in my clean bathroom now! Fortunately dh is doing all the cooking, so my job is done!
