All beds stripped today and remade 1 king-size 1 double 1 single and surfaces cleaned and floors vacced......but I keep hearing of something called fresh sheets Sunday or Saturday and my question is how is this done on a Saturday Sunday with that being the only time kids are home or not at school should I say..... If I go in my teens or childs bed during the weekend and say yes time to sheets Sunday post say 11am id be met with mom seriously go for a jog I'm not getting out of my bed pre 11 when I'm up At 6 during the week SO how brave are you and what day would you pick

Why would you even do this??

Snorlaxo · 12/03/2025 14:20

Is it a social media thing ? I’ve seen videos where people do a “refresh “ on Sundays as that is what presumably suits their routine.

I often change my bedding on a hair wash day to maximise that clean feeling.

KittenPause · 12/03/2025 14:22

Is this something you've heard from the dimwit cleaning social media gang

Christwosheds · 12/03/2025 14:22

I normally change sheets on a Sunday evening or Monday morning, so they are clean for the week ahead.

RedSkyDelights · 12/03/2025 14:22

If your children are old enough that they will be lying in bed until 11am they are old enough to strip and remake their own beds ...

WhatDoWeCallHim · 12/03/2025 14:24

Do you not have more than one set of sheets? You don't need to strip beds early in the day if you have a clean set ready to go on, it takes ten minutes, and the dirty ones go in the laundry

madaffodil · 12/03/2025 14:26

My late DM always used to change the beds on a Sunday, presumably because of following the old tradition of Monday being washing day and she didn't want to have to change the beds on Monday morning as well as doing all the laundry.

Applesandpears23 · 12/03/2025 14:27

Why can’t the teen change their own bed?

Blackcordoroys · 12/03/2025 14:29

I change my bed on a Sunday and make the dc do theirs too. I work Monday - Friday and like to do nothing on Saturday 🤷‍♀️

Tryingtokeepgoing · 12/03/2025 14:31

I love the feeling of freshly laundered bed linen. The cleaner changes the sheets on Wednesday, but I'll often change them again Saturday if I'm around and have time :)

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:35

Yes lol so true I'm just trying to fathom it .... To me the best day to do Bedrooms etc is when the occupant or in my case hermit isn't sat there glaring at me .... Naughty social media

Miaowzabella · 12/03/2025 14:36

I would be telling the teens to change their own sheets. And to keep a civil tongue in their heads.

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:38

I love to lay in and enjoy my clean sheets Thursdays I'm off so I'm looking forward to the morning off waking in a clean bed and just resting

caramac04 · 12/03/2025 14:39

Do it when it suits you. Influencers don’t need to be heeded.

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:40

Yes some are old enough but I believe the weekend is for rest relaxation recharging by playing sleeping and just not having a schedule to weekends the week is schedule crazy

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:42

I can cope with the tongue I just put my headphones in it's everything else that goes with the tongue lol I can never remember my mum or dad saying sheets Sunday it was all done during the week so we could enjoy our weekend

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 12/03/2025 14:43

You do whatever suits you. I change our bedding on a Friday morning, DH leaves for work at 6am that day and I do a 6am gym class so he strips it and puts it in the machine, I take it out before the school run to dry it. We alternate between 3 sets.

DC change their own, I rarely need to prompt (all teen plus).

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 12/03/2025 14:43

I do mine on variable days, depending on when I'm going to have a day (or preferably more than one) off. So I can wake up in the morning in a clean bed and know that I can wallow about in my lovely sheets for a few hours and no need to rush.

soundsys · 12/03/2025 14:43

Oh God no. Unless you live somewhere very dry and sunny how do you get them all done at once?!

We have a super king, two small doubles and a single and they're on a rotation on different days as otherwise there's just be soggy sheets all over the house and piles of laundry 😩

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:47

Refresh Saturday Sunday yes or as I would call it possibly staging or just tidy etc spring cleaning on a Sunday whilst cooking Sunday lunch to then be doing 3 rooms nah influencers I'd love to see the rest of the house and what's cooking .... Surely people have visitors family round at the weekend id be just refreshing as you say the downstairs rooms etc

OP posts:
Maladie · 12/03/2025 14:48

Just do them whatever day works for you. Follow TOMM and it's Tuesday. We do it at the weekend because we have more free time then.

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:49

3 sets each on rotation haven't the storage for me also I like to open the windows and air the mattress at least once a week with nothing on it

OP posts:
Flossflower · 12/03/2025 14:49

Unless in the winter, when I tumble dry, I change sheets in the morning on a good drying day. I let the beds air and put the same sheets back on when they are laundered. I do have spare sets, but I just can’t be bothered to get them from the back of the airing cupboard.
As I have to turn the mattresses every 3 months and it is a 2 person job, we usually move the beds (divans) then and vacuum underneath. I also keep a log of wether I have rotated or turned over the matress so I remember for next time.

purplemom03 · 12/03/2025 14:51

I can understand that theory ooh I'd love wash day Monday once a week mines on at least 2 times a day
