What do you do with clothes that you have worn so aren't clean to go back in the drawer/wardrobe, but aren't dirty enough to justify washing just yet?

Wherewhatnow · 25/02/2025 21:42

They're in a heap on top of my chest of drawers 😳

ChangingHistory · 25/02/2025 21:42

Limit it to just a couple of items and hook on side of wardrobe or back of door.

If you're organised put them back in wardrobe with hangers facing the opposite way to all your clean clothes and once a week anything the wrong way round goes in the wash.

Whatissheliketwelve · 25/02/2025 21:43

We have an ottoman at the end of the bed

turkeyboots · 25/02/2025 21:43

I have a ladder thing. It's handy and doesn't take up too much space

HundredPercentUnsure · 25/02/2025 21:47

@ChangingHistory wardrobe is built into an alcove so has no sides, door has dressing gown and many scarves already hanging on it 🫣

Floordrobe!

Trallers · 25/02/2025 21:57

I can recommend an exercise bike. It has many hanging surfaces - seat, handlebars etc. You can even hang things on hangers that are waitning to be ironed from it!

The over-radiator cat bed that the cat never uses

SquawkerTexasRanger · 25/02/2025 21:59

If you’re going to wear them again hang them up in the wardrobe. If they need a wash put them in for the wash

FKAT · 25/02/2025 21:59

I put them back in the wardrobe / cupboard. Mystified why you wouldn't.

Adhikv · 25/02/2025 22:00

I actually put them back into the cupboard; if they’re clean enough to wear again then why not? I only do this with jeans and cardigans and I can tell when they need a wash so it’s not like I don’t know they’re not straight from the wash

RachelLikesTea · 25/02/2025 22:01

I have a Chaise Longerobe

WisteriaSister · 25/02/2025 22:03

Live in a house that hosts spiders. Remind yourself that spiders love to hide in clothes draped on chairs and floors. Immediately decide if you can hang it back up to re-wear and if not, put it in the wash.

generally if I think something can be re-worn, I just hang it back in the wardrobe. I have a linen spray that I might mist on them if needed. If they’re not clean enough to go in the wardrobe, then they need to be in the wash.

(OR,get one of those open topped, stiff fabric storage boxes like the ones Ikea sell to go in their pax system, and fold up your in-between clothes to go in there. It s a bit neater than a chairdrobe even if the box actually ends up living on the chair.)

Would you put a teaspoon you'd licked back into the cutlery drawer? I mean it's been used once but it appears clean.....

If it's clean enough to wear again then back in wardrobe.

PiggyPigalle · 25/02/2025 22:06

On eBay. "Folding clothes hook wall."
Too many designs to link.

We have a valet stand, mainly used by DH. I can’t stand mess, so swear it’s saved our marriage!

nythbran2 · 25/02/2025 22:08

This has a short rail and hooks on the back! It's perfect. www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/knapper-standing-mirror-white-00396242/

When you remove clothing it needs to air, or it will cause mould in the wardrobe.

Changingname1988 · 25/02/2025 22:08

I turn them inside out and hang at one end of the wardrobe. I’ve got a generously-sized wardrobe though so there is plenty of room for them to air without being squished in with the other clothes.

Gingernaut · 25/02/2025 22:09

Hat stand

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/02/2025 22:09

I put them back in the wardrobe unless I know I will be wearing the garment again soon in which case I hang them in hangers from the wardrobe door knobs .

MovedonfromMartin · 25/02/2025 22:10

I have a banisterobe. Not even in my room so out of sight too. Winner!

LegallyBlende · 25/02/2025 22:11

I literally just got a box for under the bed. Love not having a pile of clothes around. And hooks on the back of the door for anything that needs a coat hanger (rare)
