I have a tiny downstairs toilet

it is so small

and we are finally getting the roof fixed - HOORAH - so we can decorate it

our house is not something out of Ideal Home. We have all white walls and bits of stuff in frames on it - artwork, pictures, kids drawings, postcards. I bet my mate would say we are 'bohemian' [ick]

anyway I am bored of being in this toilet staring at the door. it is sooooo near my knees. And I want to do something stunningly simple with this toilet that will make it The Fun Toilet or something but that won't just look stupid. It is mainly a toilet for the kids (we had it put it in because of dd1's disability), but we use it too as it is just off hte kitchen. We tend to send guests upstairs to the lovely bathroom in order to be kind to them

and that we won't get bored with after 2 minutes

I am thinking of getting a shelf put in over the cistern to put my empty Gaultier perfume bottles in

but that's all I have so far

Saloon doors and a painted saddleshape on the loo seat (eh voila - cowboy toilet?)

MrsBadger · 29/04/2008 15:43

oh you need that wallpaper with frames on
[rummages]
here

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:44

god MrsB I love that wallpaper

I think about it on a weekly basis for the playroom

however the toilet is even too small for that I fear

(saloon doors? what have you been drinking?)

and floor from harvey maria

fruittea · 29/04/2008 15:44

I was just looking for that, Mrs B!

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:45

we have floor

floor is boring

floor is anti-slip grant-funded flooring

I posted a pic once and dumbledoresgirl said it looked like pumice

MrsBadger · 29/04/2008 15:46

no, look, perfect for loo

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:46

I did wonder about papering it in old newspaper

I saw that done once

but then as soon as I thought about it it sounded horrible

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:47

oooooooh

MrsB

ooooooooh

we could swap stuff round so we didn't get bored

and we could paint frames onto the panels in the door

A family I know have really bold, silver wallpaper with a big pink print, with a red loo. (Not sure if they painted it themselves)

It sounds awful, but it looks good. You have to have the 'personality' to carry it off though. Don't know if I could be bothered with personality for a toilet.

JackieNo · 29/04/2008 15:51

Or panels painted with blackboard paint, and chalks, so you can draw on the walls while you're in there?

PosieParker · 29/04/2008 15:52

A friend of mine who was of Adfrican decent but with a white family had a large map of Africa, very tasteful, in their downstairs toilet. Another friend has a photo collage.

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:53

we have blackboard right next to the loo and chalks

we could continue it I guess

but I don't really want to encourage the kids in there... they already spend enough time running back and forth to get water for their imaginary piglet

yes you are right about personality; you don't wnat to be too meek for your own loo

OP posts:
JackieNo · 29/04/2008 15:54

lol at the imaginary piglet. I love that frames wallpaper too though - it's great.

JackieNo · 29/04/2008 15:56

You can get some great wall stickers.

Laugs · 29/04/2008 15:57

Oh, a pub near me has its toilets papered in old comic strips. Looks good.

I like JackieNo's idea though. These might work

More lovely stickers. How about some space invaders?

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 15:58

oh god I love those stickers

I saw them in LivingEtc

Ooh - maybe some zips (to fit in with the toilet)

Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 16:02

oh now I am not sure about the zips

I did like the butterflies because we have some already

there are some on the dividing curtain

and dd1 painted some at a pottery thing

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 29/04/2008 16:02

however I am moving out of the toilet now, which is not a good thing

Must. Stay. Focused.

Ah, Rockett St George is the site I was trying to think of for stickers.

Seasider · 29/04/2008 16:08

maps are quite fun.
The frames wallpaper is fab too.
