I have a tiny downstairs toilet

it is so small

and we are finally getting the roof fixed - HOORAH - so we can decorate it

our house is not something out of Ideal Home. We have all white walls and bits of stuff in frames on it - artwork, pictures, kids drawings, postcards. I bet my mate would say we are 'bohemian' [ick]

anyway I am bored of being in this toilet staring at the door. it is sooooo near my knees. And I want to do something stunningly simple with this toilet that will make it The Fun Toilet or something but that won't just look stupid. It is mainly a toilet for the kids (we had it put it in because of dd1's disability), but we use it too as it is just off hte kitchen. We tend to send guests upstairs to the lovely bathroom in order to be kind to them

and that we won't get bored with after 2 minutes

On a totally different note.....

In our student flat we used to have a tiny loo and there was a medical-textbook-type poster of the workings of the digestive system.....

It was, um, educational!

I think a really bold wallpaper in the loo is always a great idea. Have been looking for the perfect one for mine for aaaages now ... (Love that frames one, MrsB! It is officially top of (today's) wish list.)

Capp, what about just painting your loo a really bright jewel like colour, red for example or something in keeping with the rest of your house?

Or making a photo wall with loads of simple frames from ikea?

Or putting film or tintin (for example) posters all around?

I think I am going with MrsB's idea, thanks all - because it fits in with the rest of the house (ie it is white) and because I can change it

Jackie thank you so much for reminding me of the stickers - I have been wondering what to do with my dull but endless white staircase for ages. It's v high so I can't wallpaper it without help/ scaffolding ladders

mwah!

Sounds good - will you post pictures once it's done?

MrsBadger · 29/04/2008 17:01

Blik is the ultimate sticker source - some of Jackie's links stock them but it's worth lookign at the whole range

Decorate one or two walls by sticking either old sheet music or newspaper on the wall and then seal with varnish over the top. I did this in a tiny bathroom and it was wicked!

Also - make a stencil of a footprint and have footprints coming in through the top of the door, across the ceiling and out of the window.....

p.s. you use the music/newspaper to cover the whole wall and put it on overlapping and higgledy piggledy etc
