I'm very excited! We're in the process of buying our first home and I CANNOT wait to buy a brand new washing machine rather than using the ones provided by LLs.

I'm looking for recommendations of a great machine that will last.

We currently have a Becko one and I don't like it for a few different reasons.

If you've landed here looking for washing machine recommendations, we've recently updated our best washing machines page with lots of great options, tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

Congratulations on buying your first house! I am going to make a controversial recommendation. Everyone hates washer dryers but mine is not only the best washing machine I’ve had but also the best dryer I’ve had. You can wash and dry a mixed full load in 2.5hrs. It takes up to 10kg for washing and 6kg for dryer but I’ve always washed and dried loads that are 3/4 of the machine without issue. Had it for 3 years and had to call an engineer out once because it kept randomly switching itself off (turned out it was because the plug wasn’t fully in the socket so user error). Because it’s an eco washer that uses less water, i would recommend using liquid washing products rather than pods as I find it doesn’t use enough water to fully dissolve pods. Anyway, it’s the Bosch series 6. Spenny but worth it. Full details below:

Oooh that is controversial! I remember having a washer dryer in a previous rental and it stank.

We actually bought our own dryer last year because I just couldn't stand another winter trying to fry our clothes on racks (2 adults and 2 toddlers)!

Hi OP. Congrats on buying your first home.

I'd recommend the Samsung SmartThings washing machine (I've linked it below).

It can be connected to your phone, it has a quick wash and it also has a variation of different cycles. You can also tweak cycles with the app and adjust them to your needs.

The washing machine has an auto dosage compartment for detergent and softener. This means that based on the weight of the load, the detergent and softener is dispensed accordingly which means you don't waste product (detergent and fabric softener last ages now as I was probably putting too much in before) this also helps increase the life of the washing machine as it prevents buildup as it takes what it needs.

It also tells you when the drum needs a clean and runs a two hour long cycle to do this when needed (mine suggested a drum clean after I washed some blankets).

There's variations on the SmartThings range but the exact one I have is linked below:
