Moring

Not a good start to the day here.....I'm in trouble with dp. I forgot to put my phone clock (also his alarm) forward last night, so he didn't wake up til 10 past 6.He should leave at 6.
Then he discovered I'd also forgotten to tumble dry his work trousers.

Ah, well. He's on his way now. I jus hope the traffic isn't too bad, or I won't hear the end of it.

I'll go and find todays mission.

PMSL! I am speechless!
how about this one?

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:10

good ideas from Ruby there for you tort.
its horrible when you have no money isnt it, makes you feel bad when tell the kids no. we have a giant whisky bottle i fill with any loose change from ten pences downwards that i have in my purse i empty them out each day. dc know this is the "summer" money for a big trip out when we out and the see money on the floor ds collects it and puts it in the penny jar. I'm useless at budgetting so try and teach the children while they are little in the hope they'll be better when their grown up than me . i also hope they have lts of other things that i havent got
like Ruby says spolit kids are horrible, would much rather my children learn to save for things rather than get them on demand.
your children may not have as much as some peoples children in terms of possesions etc, but what they have will meen more to them now, and they'll appreciate when they are older the things you do for them/ with them more than the numerous things they never play with iyswim
we never had much when we were little, my mum was on her own with 5 of us, but i remember her trying we used to go regularly for picnics "down the sea wall" havin rolling races etc down the banks. but i remeber some of the things i did have, and the ones i really wanted and got i treasured like my cindy cafe i got one christmas, the happiness when i opened that present i still remember to this day. i'm sure had i been spoiled i wouldnt remeber that now.
you are doing a good job and trying as best you can, your children will remember that when they are grown up

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:12

hehe didnt realise there was a page 3 to this post.
i like that stripper tort

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:15

Thanks dylsmum1998. I had to force £3 out of the xmas saving tin this morning just so they had food for their lunch boxes. Really do need to ask about free school meals because i know i am entitled to them while on benifits. They are definatly not spoilt. they have treat day once a week after school (sweets, magazine or cake)unlike a lot of others that go straight to the sweet shop everyday and they do seem to appreciate it more that way.

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:16

(I am on old style MN so i don't get pages! Prefer it the old way!)

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:17

i think you apply for free school meals with housing benefit now, i rememer seeing something about them on the last form i filled out, not sure if you know this, sorry if you already do

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:18

Apparently need to ask school for a form. Will ask this week!

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:21

thats good. hope they sort it out nice and quick for you. its horrid when your that desperate isnt it, I've been there.
am lucky at the mo, as dd dad is being very amiable and helping me out much more now

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:24

Thats good. I get nothing from either Xp! Although would lose most of it in benifits if i did anyway.

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:27

i get nothing from ds dad.
dd dad brings "presents" that are useful to help me out so that benefits dont touch it when he gets paid. he's very good makes sure the presents arent just usable my dd, some are for ds too

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:31

That sounds good. DS's dad wouldn't do it though. He prefers to spend money on himself!
DD's dad i have absolutly no contact with and he isn't allowed to contact me.

tortoise · 31/03/2008 22:33

Must get to bed!
Will try and FLY better tomorrow! DD2 is at pre-school in the morning.
Nite.

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:36

sory you having it so tough at the mo. not sure what else to suggest other than keep it up, your children really will apreciate your hard work when they are older.
i'm off to bed now too
night

dylsmum1998 · 01/04/2008 06:51

its tuesday

Janni · 01/04/2008 09:21

Morning all. Dylsmum - is your little one an early riser, by any chance?

Really need the discipline of Fly to help me get back on top of things. I'm too all or nothing - because I couldn't stick to my 'schedule' I gave up completely and things have got out of control at home, plus it's been holidays and DH has been working all hours..

To do:
dishwasher, DD meds, prep load of laundry for service wash
