How often do you mop your kitchen floors?

Having this conversation with a couple of friends today.

I mop my floor every day. I have a teeny tiny kitchen though and white floor tiles which are the bane of my life. It takes well under a minute.

Friend 1 has a very large open plan kitchen and pale terracotta tiles. It;s mopped when her cleaner comes once a week.

Friend 2 thinks she might mop every couple of weeks at most. She has dark tiles and a large kitchen and (perhaps most importantly) no muddy dogs!

There is no point to my question. Just a random musing that I am interested in! (It's a slow news day Chez Lobelia).

Once every couple of weeks.

I don't do any daily housework apart from filling the dishwasher and a wipe of the kitchen surfaces.

I brush/hoover mine multiple times a day anytime there's crumbs. I mop a couple of times a week minimum. When the kids were little and launching food around it was every day. Gray slate tiles. We don't wear shoes in the house.

Bloody hell

Mine are matte wood effect ceramic tiles which really don't show dirt. They are swept when they need it which can be multiple times a day or just every other day or so. They are wet cleaned maybe once every 3-4 weeks, but spills are cleaned up immediately with a cloth.

I hoover every week and steam mop it every other week. We have black and white patterned tiles with dark grout so marks don't show up too much. We don't have dogs or wear shoes in the kitchen so the only real mess is toddler occasionally dropping food on the floor.

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/02/2024 18:23

Very rarely! I sweep frequently. We don't have crawling babies or a dog, so that's a big help. Also we have a natural wood floor and it doesn't show the dirt Grin I'd say once a month at most. The water in the bucket isn't that disgusting when I tip it away. I loathe mopping with a passion, it takes so long to dry!

Daily as have dogs who manage to find mud in a summer heatwave

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/02/2024 18:26

Not very often but I did do them today!

They get hoovered 2 or 3 times a week though

ARMSDOWN · 19/02/2024 18:29

Hoover every day. Mop once a week. I'm a lone parent who works ft so don't have time to do every day! I have 7 rooms and clean one properly each day of the week.

TheLostOnes · 19/02/2024 18:32

Vacuumed once a weekish. Have been mopped twice this year so far (& as I was doing it a couple of days ago I was impressed with myself for doing it so soon after last time 😂) Doesn't tend to look awful though I don't think

JustJessi · 19/02/2024 18:36

Every day

mommybear1 · 19/02/2024 20:06

Grey porcelain tiles no pets small people though 😬 it's robot vacuumed every night and steam mopped every other day or at least once a week if we skip it. Always horrified and bemused by the dirty pads given that we don't wear shoes in the house 🤔

Tarquina · 19/02/2024 20:15

Once a fortnight.

Mairzydotes · 19/02/2024 20:18

Not often enough. I spend a lot of time thinking that floor will need mopped soon .

Taylormiffed · 19/02/2024 20:20

Never. No shoes, young kids or pets in the house. Hard floor so it gets vacuumed every so often.
If I drop something it gets wiped up. I gave it a good scrub with a white flannel once, barely a spec of dirt on the flannel.

Tanktanktank · 20/02/2024 14:14

We have wood effect tiles and they hide dirt wonderfully so mine was being done about once a week with spot cleaning when needed BUT I got a robotic vacuum and it mops too. I thought that would be just a gimmick but actually it makes a good job. I spray the floor with antibacterial cleaner and I put warm water in its tank and let it get on with it. We have wooden floors too and because it uses so little water I’m happy to let it do those with it as well.

Lightnose · 20/02/2024 14:20

When inhad young DC and a regular cleaning routine it was swept most days and mopped once a week. Now it's done when I notice it needs it.

Firsttimebabymama · 20/02/2024 14:22

Daily when I had a dog, now every 3 days or so

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 20/02/2024 14:30

Non shiny terracotta, small kitchen. Just the two of us. I'd like to do it every day because it definitely needs it, but realistically 3-4 times a week.
