How often do you clean your duvet?

I’ve just taken my superking duvet to the launderette for cleaning and my friend thinks I’m mad for doing so!
She has never cleaned her duvet in all the years she’s had it so I wondered how often you cleaned yours?

FOr those of you who wash theirs in the home washing machine: how many togs are they? We have a 15tog superking duvet and a 10Kg washing machine. No way would the duvet fit in the machine. So off to the dry cleaners it goes.

It's only our summer king size ones that fits in the machine (4 togs). The winter ons go to the cleaners. We have one winter double (10tog?) that I can just about squeeze in!

My duvets are 4.5 togs so fit in the washing machine.

When I used one duvet that was 13 or 15tog I had to take it to the laundrette. Then the prices of washing them went up so it was cheaper to buy a new one.

This is our duvet

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silentnight-Combinations-Seasons-Duvet-Hollow/dp/

In 2 parts 4.5 tog and 10.5 tog. It's warmer but lighter than the duvet it replaced.

The 10.5 super king fits in our machine.

I wash the parts separately.

DP never used to wash his duvet but when we moved in together, it now gets washed every 3 or 4 months - if it fitted in our washing machine, it would be every couple of months, especially when it's hot and sweaty. I find it a bit 😖Confusedotherwise. Stale sweat smells are just 🤢

Summer duvet - once per year as it'll fit in the washing machine. Winter duvet, not at all, although the summer we had 40C temperatures we hung it on the washing line, soaked it with water and suds and hosed it down! That was fun. And it dried really quickly!

Once a year, when we switch from the winter duvet to the summer duvet, and vice versa. Obviously they are used with duvet covers, but I think it’s a bit grim to never wash them!

Same. I also hang it on the line on as many hot days as we get so the sunshine can disinfect.

That's a good suggestion; it definitely sounds cheaper than schlepping over to the nearest (9 miles away) launderette 😀
