Purdy & Figg

What am I missing here about Purdy & Figg? I subscribed and got my starter kits and like the scents but the spray bottles are tiny, I’ll get through one a week easily but they’re supposed to last a month at a time. The spray itself is great for wiping already clean surfaces but I wouldn’t want to use the cloths on actual dirty kitchen worktops etc. I just don’t get how it’s supposed to work as the only cleaner you need for the whole house. I have now cancelled my subscription and will buy method refills which are equally nice smelling and more affordable too.

I wasn't particularly impressed and cancelled mine. Cleaning no better than usual brand and I wasnt keen on the scents

NewYearTimeToChange · 09/01/2024 09:12

@Gatekeeper just seems very expensive at £10 for 300mls of cleaning spray that I can’t see actually contains anything that cleans. Unless you use one squirt on the cloth per room I just can’t see how the little bottle is going to last a month. The spray too is almost as big as the bottle itself. I like the bottles so will reuse them but either I clean far too much (unlikely) or I’m completely missing something.

Now using a dilution of Star Drops with a few drops of essential oil; worked better than Purdy &Figg and a HELL of a lot cheaper

hellsBells246 · 09/01/2024 17:10

What the hell? I've just been decided into buying their cleaning products, and I was hoping for great things. Oh well.

NewYearTimeToChange · 09/01/2024 20:18

@hellsBells246 sorry to burst the bubble for you. I genuinely don’t understand how the tiny spray bottle is supposed to last a month when you clean most days at least. If I’m missing something I’d love someone to tell me, this stuff seems to get amazing reviews - it smells nice for a minute and is good on a not too dirty surface but smears mirrors but it’s not anything special that I can see for the money it costs at least.

Love this idea thanks

Sonnet · 12/01/2024 07:05

Sorry that was @Gatekeeper

NewYearTimeToChange · 12/01/2024 16:09

@Gatekeeper Which StarDrops product are you using with essential oils? Quite curious to try this idea.

I wasn't a fan either and cancelled my subscription after the first order was delivered. My "bottle for life" was leaking profusely which led to about 80% of a bottle pouring its way into my under-sink cupboard.
I contacted their customer service and they sent me a new trigger attachment for the bottle. That's it. They didn't bother to replace the scent bottle that had found its way all over my cupboard, despite my requesting it.

I left a review which oddly, has never made it's way onto their reviews page, so clearly they are skewing the feedback you can see.

Gatekeeper · 12/01/2024 16:34

@NewYearTimeToChange its the orangey Stardrops Original all round cleaner liquid. I get it from Home Bargains and use it for all sorts

NewYearTimeToChange · 12/01/2024 18:10

@Gatekeeper great thank you I’ll keep an eye out. I like nice smelling cleaner but having used a whole bottle of P&F in a week (and I’m not an obsessive cleaner) no way can I afford refills as often as I’d need them.

I use Aldi's concentrate which is super cheap and just dilute to refill the bottle. I quite like having a smaller bottle, but the spray is weirdly massive

Iamnotavicar · 12/01/2024 18:22

I bought a starter pack and the lid hadn't been tightened and split all over the packaging, and I had to explain at length why I wanted a refund. I like the scents and I have granite worktops so they are suitable for that. But it's very over priced for what you get, so I'm cancelling my subscription and will experiment with a mixture of ethanol, washing up liquid and essential oils in distilled water. I think I can probably make something similar for a fraction of the cost and without the marketing.

Obviouslynotallthere · 12/01/2024 18:32

Glad I saw your post as I have tried the trial pack. One of the scents smells like old ashtray after being washed out. In fact it triggered memories of childhood at my grandma's house. It seems to smear all the surfaces too. Anyway I've just cancelled and will go back to a small cap full of zoflora instead.

twilightcafe · 12/01/2024 18:40

P&F was okay but v expensive for a cleaner. Smelled lovely but the scent faded quickly.

I just add essential oils to Sainsbury's unfragranced all-purpose cleaner.

Electio7899 · 12/01/2024 18:40

Oh I must be one of the weird ones - really love the smells. I agree the bottles last about a week (also not an obsessive cleaner), and it’s no good for mirrors or deep cleaning but still find it good. The customer service aren’t great I agree.

SophieHope7 · 12/01/2024 19:23

I use smol. Love the scent of the spray and washing tabs. Never gone back and I was a die hard method fan

melissasummerfield · 12/01/2024 19:30

I was considering it but if you read into it the products have no antibacterial properties so for kitchens and bathrooms its a hard no for me.

GallbladderWoes · 12/01/2024 19:54

Thanks OP, you've reminded me to cancel my subscription.
Expensive, not economical as a bottle lasts a week max, reviews seem suspicious.

Like a previous poster said, I'll add essential oils to my other cleaning products

candlelog · 12/01/2024 21:20

Glad I seen this. It keeps popping up on my social media feeds and I was in two minds.

Recycledblonde · 12/01/2024 21:36

I use it and , for me, it lasts more than a week and work really well even on tough stains. I'm not obsessed with anti bio sprays and seem to be perfectly healthy without them.

ballsdeep · 12/01/2024 21:39

I bought the starter kit. It smears everywhere and I’ve had to re do my polishing! It lasts me about a week if I’m lucky. The scent doesn’t last either. I really wanted to like it bevause I was so taken in with their instagram ads 😂😂😂

bestbefore · 12/01/2024 21:43

The best spray I have found is the M&S one - I've bought everyone over the years and this is amazing. No streaks and smells so good

mamaduckbone · 12/01/2024 23:13

I've been spammed with adverts for this recently and have been tempted. Definitely won't be bothering now!

Expo23 · 06/12/2024 06:00

Resurrecting the thread! I wish I had done a quick search on here before I signed up. I was expecting my house to smell lovely. However, I'm not taken with the scents I have made up - especially the Christmas one. I can only smell it while I am using it then it goes. I will try the others in the box but I am 90% down the platform to the cancel train.
