Where do you keep your ironing board if you don’t have a utility room and where do you do your ironing?

In the garage. Ironing happens about four times a year so that works fine.

Salesarefullofcutpricesprouts · 06/01/2024 11:00

What is this board of ironing you mention? And is ironing some new - fangled yoga position?

I have a full height utility cupboard in the kitchen hence and it hangs in there on a large hook.

BlueShed · 06/01/2024 11:01

Missed the second q. I don't really do any ironing. Aim to hang things as soon as they come out of the wash. When needed I just iron in the kitchen diner.

Janieforever · 06/01/2024 11:03

I seldom to never iron, my husband does it more often, prob a couple of times a month for a shirt. It’s in the spare room. If I’ve guests I move it into the office out the way,

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 06/01/2024 11:03

Between the fridge and the worktop/wall cupboard. Fits in nicely and no-one sees it. I do my ironing in either living room or kitchen with a film on. I rather like ironing.

mylifeisprettygood · 06/01/2024 11:05

I've got a cupboard under the stairs that I keep the ironing board in so it's close to hand as I iron daily. I bloody love ironing which is lucky as I have a big family.

SOxon · 06/01/2024 11:06

mine is hanging behind the door of the utility room on a £4 from Morrisons over-the- door contraption, basket for iron, with two hooks underneath which the legs hook onto. Brilliant, cheap, clangs, but if anyone breaks in through there they won’t be doing it quietly

theduchessofspork · 06/01/2024 11:06

Under the bed (Tiny living space)

SOxon · 06/01/2024 11:08

We also have a counter/table top smaller ironing board from IKEA which is very handy.

App13 · 06/01/2024 11:08

I have a laurastar, and that ideally should be out than folded in,so its now in the utility room that I had built but previously it was in the lounge for yonks!

Outthedoor24 · 06/01/2024 11:11

Up until about 3 days ago it was officially in a cupboard of the utility room.
Ironing was done in the living room. Well actually the ironing board stayed in the living room until we had visitors and got put away as part of the mad "folk are coming better tidy up"

I have a set of small steps that were in the cupboard beside the tank, they are now in the utility room cupboard, freeing up space for the ironing board.

I did the ironing in the Bedroom the other day, to see how it went, Stuff ironed, and hung up, no hunting around for hangers, no stuff hanging on door handles. So made the move to upstairs. Why didn't I think of that years ago.

yumyum33 · 06/01/2024 11:13

I have a mini one hanging in the wardrobe and I've used it twice in three years.

Decimate · 06/01/2024 11:13

Don't have one. On the rare occasion something needs ironing I use a steam cleaner to blow the creases out. Probably last used 2ish years ago

AlwaysForksAndMarbles · 06/01/2024 11:15

In the cupboard under the stairs along with other tall things, like mops, the heated airer and the hoover. In my previous tiny house we put a tall larder cupboard into the kitchen design with no shelves in it, to store all the same things.

Ambi · 06/01/2024 11:15

I iron maybe once a year. It's in a store cupboard at the moment but I'm thinking of getting a small table top one for the odd times I iron.

jmh740 · 06/01/2024 11:16

Under the stairs I iron at the weekend just shirts for work/school(have to admit it sometimes just lives for weeks behind the sofa and ends up a dumping ground)

Sherrystrull · 06/01/2024 11:17

I've got a tabletop one that lives with the iron in the corner of the pantry

Globules · 06/01/2024 11:17

Ironing?

I've got far better things to do with my time.

Last time I used the iron was 18 months ago to wundaweb a hem.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 06/01/2024 11:18

I gave it away about 2-3 years ago (kept the iron for any 'emergency' ironing).

When I had one, it lived in the cupboard-under-the-stairs, hanging from coat pegs. Any ironing done in the sitting room.

SmallPaperBoat · 06/01/2024 11:19

Top of the stairs. It fits without being in the way.
My work trousers get creased easily in my wardrobe through lack of space so I iron (essentials only) once or twice a week.

hopeishere · 06/01/2024 11:21

In the airing cupboard. I iron in the bedroom so it's easier to put it away!

Mazuslongtoenail · 06/01/2024 11:22

I have a 5 inch gap between the wardrobes and wall in the dressing room so it slots flat in there. Then on the rare occasion that I iron, it’s already by the clothes.

Tashface · 06/01/2024 11:27

I'm not telling you. You might come and steal it Shock

freshgreen · 06/01/2024 11:29

No ironing board here, or iron.
