Where do you keep your ironing board?

Where do you keep your ironing board if you don’t have a utility room and where do you do your ironing?

I got rid of my full sized ironing board last year, I rarely used it and it took up too much room in my only storage cupboard in the hall - bungalow so no under stairs space and no utility room. I bought a small, fold up table top ironing board instead which fits better in the hall cupboard - but I have not used it yet! My intention is to use it sitting at the kitchen table if I ever find it necessary to iron.

I was asked to store some table cloths for my WI group, after washing and ironing them after each use. I agreed but when I said I was happy to wash them but would not be ironing them, someone else was given the job!

We don't have a tall cupboard, so I got rid of our full size ironing board and bought a mini one. It lives in the cupboard on the landing.
It's just DH and I and we might iron 4 items a year (he wears high vis to work and I wear stretchy Jersey clothing etc).

Ironing board lives upright in he utility cupboard (tiny).

Ironing occurs....by my DH only, about 3 times a year, behind the sofa near the wall socket with a view to the TV. I gave up ironing in around about 2010.

In the linen cupboard. Don't iron regularly, but usually in a bedroom or the landing (next to the cupboard).

Garage

Ironing... board... I seem to know the words, but together? Nope, is it like planking?

Curlyshabtree · 06/01/2024 14:30

Between my wardrobe and the wall in my bedroom. I do the ironing in the bedroom, easy to put stuff right away and just one floor up to dts rooms (washing machine is in the cellar).

It's always up in our spare room.

Catsknowbest · 06/01/2024 14:41

In the hall cupboard and do ironing in the hall as it's large

Permanently up in a spare bedroom.

Used it once several years ago and it was too much effort to put it away.

Plus the cat likes sitting on it.

🤣

I have quite a large understairs cupboard so it lives quite happily there.😊

I have an open plan kitchen/utility room but I do the ironing in the dining room.

Singleandproud · 06/01/2024 14:45

In the electric cupboard in the hallway it is just wide enough for the board and has a little shelf for the iron.

I iron in my bedroom and I iron pretty much everything (apart from socks) or if I've tumble dried bits that are only worn inside the house like PJs then they get folded and put away. I've tried to reduce my tumble drying though and things dried on a airer really do need ironing.

Illpickthatup · 06/01/2024 14:46

I have a utility room on but I do my ironing in my bedroom infront of the TV so I can pop things straight into the wardrobes. I keep the ironing board in the upstairs hall cupboard.

FishIsForCatsNotDogs · 06/01/2024 14:46

In the shed...I use it to put my recycling bins on so I don't have to bend down when sorting them....it's the only reason I've still got it.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/01/2024 14:49

Mine is in my wardrobe in my bedroom. I have one that hangs off a clothes rail. I do the ironing in front of the bedroom tv. It's a moment of peace and relaxation.

Achoo2 · 06/01/2024 15:03

Under the sofa - it has legs

idontlikealdi · 06/01/2024 15:04

Don't have one. Only have an iron because the kids wanted Hama beads.

TroysMammy · 06/01/2024 16:07

I rarely iron but my ironing board is in a cupboard in my spare (craft) room so if I do decide/need to iron I can put the clothes straight away without having to lug them up the stairs.
