Just popping in to say a quick hello and give you all a big hug.

Sorry I haven't been around for ages. Real life is a big hectic atm. Just dashing out now (again!) but will try to pop in again later.

Have a good weekend everyone!

TheMadHouse · 08/03/2008 15:59

Oh big waves to Gibberish Missed you - how is the painting going?

Ruby we are starting the same. I have decluttered the spare room/office toatally first each room decorating in theplan is to rotate stuff through each room, starting in there first.

Also I am utilising the garage - dont use storageyou will never bother to get it back IMO

Groucy I really feel for you in spades. I hope you are resting. We do live paralle lives me thinks too, its nice to find someone similar (I would say wacky!).I am a reading feind and want the boys to have the same love of books that I developed as a child

Must go and get the easter decorations out of the garage for cards

Luda Peeing down here too. We really need to batten down the hatches when it stops for the wind though.

Grouchyoscar · 08/03/2008 16:44

Gibberish Whoo hoo, welcome back

Ruby get a mountain of nice cardboard storage boxes and then I'd go with TMH's idea.

TMH This is scary, that's exactly what I hope to acheive with Ed I did Babies into books to NVQ level 2 when he was 5 mths old. I have got Emergency and The Gruffalo out of the book case to practice with (I can do voices for the characters)

The house is empty except me. I popped out to fill the bird feeder, make a bird fat cake, have a cuppa with the neighbour, put a td load on feel human again and go back to bed.

Oh and I found this which is wonderful so I bought his new album.

gibberish · 08/03/2008 17:15

Hi TMH and GO

TMH Painting is slow, very slow Had to pull out of the last exhibition because, as usual, I had left it waay too late. But next exhibition is next month so am working towards that. Have made a start anyway! Will let you see the results once I have something worth showing lol.

Just been to my sister's to watch Shrek 3 with the girls. Very good. Bil had set up a projector on their wall so it was like being at the cinema! dd1 is away out with her friend who is staying here this weekend. dh is away watching the rugby with my other bil and my brother who is up visiting this weekend. Back home to try and catch up on some washing...

Grouchyoscar · 08/03/2008 17:43

TMH I like 'wacky' at a council thing I was at this week I was told I was 'quirky' which was nice.

That was a great thing to do. In a group write a positive thing about each person on a card and put it in an envelope, then each peron gets an envelope full of positive comments about them and it is so uplifting.

TheMadHouse · 08/03/2008 17:59

Groucy You want more I have a cat, left home at 16 could go on, but world war three is breaking out in the consercvatory. DS1 is like this on his meds!!!!

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/03/2008 18:40

Evening, and a big wave to gibberish from me, too

Ruby - I also agree wih rotating the stuff as you work on the house. That is what we are doing too. Every time I have to move stuff (work started in November and is nowhere near finished) I get rid of more. When it is finished the upstairs of my house will be very minimalist at this rate.

I'm hoping the love of books will just be absorbed by my children. DD1 is a big reader, dd2 loves books but isn't as good at actually reading. DS only looks at two postman Pat books, and rejects all the nice books but at least he knows what to do with them, even if his reportoire is limited

OP posts:
gibberish · 08/03/2008 18:48

Hi jas

My girls all love books thankfully. I do think that if parents show an interest in books, then the children will probably follow. My parents have always been big readers and all of us (my brother and 3 sisters) are also all big readers. This seems to have carried on to all of our children.

Bewilderbeast · 08/03/2008 19:00

evening all

good to 'see' you groucy and quirky is good in my opinion

waves to tmh gibberbabyjj ruby coffee EHM I hope the frosties are defrosting nicely and snuggling into that nice warm womb.

done

DP taken to bank
opened savings account for DS
went to borders to look at slow cooker books to see if it's worth getting one tmh what do you think of yours and what do you cook in it?
went to B & Q for some more stuff for my seeds
another propagator filled with seeds - fingers crossed for successful germination
ds played with
homemade pizza in oven

DontDreamItBeIt · 08/03/2008 19:06

I have a slow cooker, but the only thing I ever cook in it is stew (so I don't have to smell it). DP who is very fussy about meat, loves it cooked like that.
I got mine in a charity shop hough.I wouldn't buy one new [skinflint emoticon]

DP din't do the plastering today. Or anything else he promised He did finally fix the car window (It had been jammed open for over a week, so I couldn't o out with ds due to freezing wind in his face) It took him 2 minutes! If he'd needed the car himself he wouldn't have left it that long.

OP posts:
Grouchyoscar · 08/03/2008 19:41

TMH I left home at 17 (Family breakdown as I went to a Ride gig in Manchester ffs...I was in the NME getting Mark to sign my T shirt tho )I have 3 cats (had 7 at the most) Your making me feel that wacky/quirky is perfectly normal

The boys are back. Ed has read really well tonight so I'm very proud. Jas even if DS only loves 1 book, he's learning how books work.

I'0.m feeling better for my day off so I'll settle Ed and have a meal withj dh and a steady night. See you tomorrow and thanks for eeverything today

TheMadHouse · 08/03/2008 20:04

BWB I love my slow cooker. I cook alsort in it bolognease, chilli, stews, chicken carcass for stock, soups, rise pudding, fahitas - alsorts I am on my second as the first was too small - mum has it

GO I am somewhat non-conformist and defintely quirky, wacky and a bit differnt, however, I relish this part of me as I grow older. It used to concern me that I was so differnt - but not anymore.

Dream I would be so at DH about the car

I am researching stuff re the cancer gene at the moment, my cousin has been for her consultations and has decided to only have her ovaries and tubes removed (keyhole), but is having fab boob surgery. They take your muscle, blood vessles and fat from tummy and rebuild your boobs with it. Cons are 12 hours in surgery, sediated for 2 days and 3 month recovery. Pros - No need for impants (need to be renewed 10 yearly), no chance of rejection, grow with you and shrink with you. Also only done in Newcastle so I would have to travel.

I am also looking io to some trials that she has been given information on as I am see both disaplines next week. hmmmmmmmmmm lots to think about. Ruby What do you know about boob jobs

RubyAndgoNumberOneFan · 08/03/2008 22:09

Just a short post from me to say hello to everyone especially anyone who is having a tough time health wise.

Ok. I've had my MN fix for half an hour. I'm going to go and spend a few mins with dh before heading to bed early. I hope to pop on here tomorrow if I can. Nos da pawb. Good night all.

FunkyGoldStar · 09/03/2008 03:46

Ho everyone, slight bout of insomnia here.

DD1 had her birthday party yesterday which was 8 kids and 2 toddlers in my house . All went well except for 1 bump to a boys head which I didnt see until his mum collected him . She got a superhero outfit and wore it yesterday and wants to wear it again today when we go to Grandmas.

Hope your are all ok.

TMH - sounds like you have a lot to think about. The non-implant boob op sounds interesting.

TheMadHouse · 09/03/2008 08:29

Morning all

FGS Glad the party went OK yesterday and I hope that you managed to get some sleep. I agree the tummy boobs sounds quite good, although as I had two sections (1 crash) I am not sure they will do - one to add to my questions

We are all up, as DS1 was up a lot through the night - he is due another dose of steriods. On the plus side he was dry lastnight

Not sure about plans for today, just going to take it as it comes

Ludaloo · 09/03/2008 08:31

Jas i could have come and had a chat at 3.46 this morning! I have a really awful stomach ache
Kept me awake until about 4.30am, then the kids woke me up at 7

It is awful...feels like I am going to be sick, only I'm not all around my middle and my back

I had hoped I might wake up without it, but no such luck.

Have no idea what might have caused it.

Anyway...lazy day for me now I think. I am absolutely knackered.

Ludaloo · 09/03/2008 08:32

Sorry...I meant FGS not jas there...

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/03/2008 08:40

Glad you didn't

Sorry you are feeling ill Ludaoo Everyone seems to be under the weather atm.

How were the legs last nigh GO?

Glad the party went well FGS i I didn't know it was dd1s birthday this week

TMH - The tummy boobs sond worth the cons if they are an option for you. So many decisions to make . It mst be very stressful for you.

Quiry is definitely a good thing(Says another more-than-a-little-odd-at-times one)

I've woken up with backache. Pre ds I always slept on my tummy, and now for some reason it makes my back worse so I have no comforable sleeping position.

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 09/03/2008 09:43

Oh Luda I am sorry that you are not feeling well. DH had a poorly tummy earlier in week, but is OK now. Take it easy if possible.

We have decided to have a day out as the weather is fab - in fact it is a glorious morning

Jas I have lots of thinking to do, but keep coming back to I would do anything to stay with my family

EHM · 09/03/2008 12:02
