Very boring one sorry!
I'm looking at the Tota laundry hamper and wondering if it's worth spending that much money on a laundry bag. .and also has anyone found a similar one cheaper?

I've got one, it was about half price in Costco about a year ago randomly. It is excellent, but I wouldn't have paid full price and not sure it would be worth it.

Severalreasons · 05/10/2023 20:01

So those of you that have it, is it as structured as it looks or flimsy?

ThomasHardyPerennial · 05/10/2023 20:12

I've got 2 of the 40L Knodd bins from Ikea. You can fit fucking loads in them!

NewUserNewName · 05/10/2023 20:14

If you want something more stable, you can just get a cupboard like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BZR33-W-Drawers-Laundry-Removable-Bathroom/
they don’t even look like laundry baskets, so can be kept in a more public room/corridor

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 05/10/2023 20:14

it is quite structured.

You can wash the bags, there's a rigid plastic bit you remove to wash the bag and then re attach with velcro.

OhWifey · 05/10/2023 20:16

It looks like there's also £25 cash back at JL so it's really only £55

BarbDwyerHair · 05/10/2023 20:21

this is similar

divinededacende · 05/10/2023 20:22

@Severalreasons thanks for telling me they do laundry hampers. Now I'm going to have to sneak one into the house and hope no one notices I bought more Joseph and Joseph - which I'm banned from buying. No-one seems to buy my "their kitchen utensil stack is a work of art" argument.

7Worfs · 05/10/2023 20:23

It’s worth paying a bit more if you really like its functionality and design.

I’m a sucker for natural materials so got this one - https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-bamboo-laundry-basket-natural/p6300277

and the children make do with the IKEA one linked upthread.

Similar but the colours are different. The outer bowl is green and the handles are slightly more squared. That was my gateway buy. Then came the stackable utensils, then the kink and cutlery caddy. Then I was told I was absolutely not allowed to come home with the drying rack for dishes 🤣.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 05/10/2023 20:32

well I suppose a line must be drawn somewhere, fortunately.

Survivedtheex · 05/10/2023 20:44

I have the triple and also love it 😊. The internal laundry bags don’t look huge but hold a perfect sized load. Our washing machine is downstairs in the garage and it was bought specifically for the safety aspect as it’s easier than carrying the normal plastic laundry baskets.

The double one is £80 at John Lewis at the mo.

I’ve got a normal lined wicker one that I’ve had for years, perfectly good, so can’t comment on the one you want.

It's annoying that not all the colours are £80!

Playaville · 05/10/2023 21:00

I have the double one, before the triple ones became available.
I wanted it for a long time and bought it off Christmas money 2021 and Iove it. It changed my life and made laundry so much easier.
I would say go for it. I swithered about getting the triple but I’m happy with the double

Krawnprackers · 05/10/2023 21:01

I love mine. I got the double one on an Amazon deal for £50 a few months ago and paid in instalments so I could justify it 🤣

OnTheBoardwalk · 05/10/2023 21:04

I actually went into JL to see if they had one on display the other week but they just had a pile of boxes which was disappointing

I’ve read reviews that say they are flimsy and the bags fall down. Does anyone know if this is true?

the box itself looked very small

Emmelina · 05/10/2023 21:04

Gimmicky and expensive as they seem, I’m a big fan of the Joseph Joseph stuff and have actually not regretted a single purchase from them so far!

Severalreasons · 05/10/2023 21:06

I can't get a cupboard one as I just don't have the space unfortunately.
I have looked at the Brian and Dany one on Amazon earlier but the reviews aren't all that great.
I think I'm going to go for it. If I get the cashback it's only £55 and that's not bad at all.

Howsimplywonderful · 05/10/2023 21:07

@OnTheBoardwalk

They are sturdy and quite the opposite - the bags don’t fall down. Perhaps if you filled them with stones.
Each bag does a load, I use the other for hand wash/woollens

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 05/10/2023 21:18

I agree with the person who said they're a lot easier to carry downstairs and the fact the bags are a little smaller than most laundry baskets works out well as (for the triple and our washing machine at least) 1 bag = 1 load so it works out nicely.

Heyyaaal · 05/10/2023 21:28

I have the triple one and love it! Highly recommend

hennybeans · 05/10/2023 21:34

I have the double one in charcoal and I really like it. I don’t find it flimsy at all. We have it in our en suite and the bags hold all the laundry for me and dh for one week. I empty them on Saturdays. I don’t think it would hold the laundry for an entire family unless you emptied it a few times a week. It looks very smart.

I also have the rainbow stacking bowls linked above and use this every day.

Peachy2005 · 05/10/2023 21:53

I’m in the process of replacing all my Joseph Joseph utensils with silicone ones. I am disappointed with how the nylon has started to feel a bit brittle and has faded, probably from the dishwasher. After doing a bit of research, it seems silicone can hold up to higher cooking heat. I haven’t found as good a food tongs yet though.

bettyjane · 05/10/2023 22:02

I’ve got the double and really like it, haven’t found it flimsy at all. I might struggle with the size for a family of 5 though.
