I haven't mopped my bedroom floor for 10 years

This is true.

I have obviously hoovered it. (Having said that, hoovering is only once every 6 weeks or so)

The thing I hate is having to move all the furniture around. Under the bed is harboured with dust, but who even goes under their bed anyway, right?

I was going to ask if this was really disgusting but now I'm looking at it in black and white.. I think I already know the answer..

How often do you properly mop/hand clean your wooden floor?

I just spot clean with the cleaning cloth and some washing up liquid or a floor wipe and push it around with my foot. Does anyone know where you can get disposable biodegradable floor wipes

Amazon.

HerMammy · 19/08/2023 21:49

) it feels ... almost greasy (
why not just mop it? it's a two minute job.

ScallyWaggyWoo · 19/08/2023 21:52

What?

my wooden floor is hoovered daily and mopped twice a week. No shoes in the house.

Haretest · 19/08/2023 21:55

Every two weeks and I'm an MN slattern who only does the bathroom the same regularity!

You don't need to move furniture to mop though?

wednesdayadamsontuesday · 19/08/2023 22:01

I definitely wouldn't call it 2 min job.

And I guess I wouldn't need to move furniture but then there's probably 10x more dust and dirt under the bed/behind chest of drawers etc.

It's one of those jobs I'll keep putting off that's what got me in this mess!

Because it's not clean not to?
I hoover and mop my bedroom floors once a week.

Do you regularly lick your floors? Do you mop your carpets?

I rarely move the bed to mop under there, but I blast underneath it with a hairdryer to blow all the big dust/ hair balls out! Works a treat!

This is genius. Dog hairs under the sofas drive me wild.

TheChosenTwo · 19/08/2023 22:06

We have carpet upstairs and in bedrooms (obviously not in the bathrooms) but wood floors in the hallway, front room, downstairs loo. It gets mopped (by the cleaner) once a week and hoovered (by me) every day. Grotty floors are my pet hate, I probably run the hoover round my kitchen about 5 times a day as I find bits on there which I find horrible!!
Not sure where I’d stand on mopping bedroom floors if they were wood though. I would assume monthly.

UndercoverCop · 19/08/2023 22:06

Robot hoover downstairs every night, proper hoover 1-2 a week, kitchen mopped with flash mop most nights, proper mop once a week. Upstairs we mainly have carpets other than DS's room service has floorboards but mostly covered with a huge rug, it's hoovered once or twice a week and cleaned with method almond floor cleaner in a spray microfibre mop thing once a week. Bathroom mopped twice a week

UndercoverCop · 19/08/2023 22:07

I let the robot hoover loose upstairs about once a month because it gets under the beds etc

FancyFanny · 19/08/2023 22:14

Hard floors get dirty- the sort of grime you can't hoover up. I bet if you wipe it with a wet wipe you'll see how dirty it is!

SuperiorM · 19/08/2023 22:16

Surely only mops in kitchens.

SuperiorM · 19/08/2023 22:17

Assuming you mean wet mops

Get a robot hoover. They are great at doing under firniture. Then mop it.

Elephantsdontlikechocolate · 19/08/2023 22:25

Good for you, for your immune system and for all womankind. Wish there were more people like that.

vipersnest1 · 19/08/2023 22:25

@Pancakebatter, or even a combined robot hoover and mop?
I am barefoot most of the time and hate walking on hard floors if they don't feel clean.

ManchesterLu · 19/08/2023 22:02

Do you regularly lick your floors? Do you mop your carpets?

Yes, somebody has their face - and hands which then go in the mouth despite my best effort to wash them first on my floors at least once a day at a minimum. 😂 I have baby/toddler aged children. Carpets can (and should if you ask me but maybe I’ll not care once I don’t have small children) be washed as well.

Elephantsdontlikechocolate · 19/08/2023 22:37

PP, the best thing for your kids' health is to let them play in mud and nature. Failing that, a dirty floor. Not a bleached floor.

KnittedCardi · 19/08/2023 22:40

I trump your wooden floors with my carpets, they do get hoovered once a week, but I don't move furniture, and they have never been cleaned.... been here 20 years.....

Mindovermatter247 · 19/08/2023 22:45

I hoover and mop every 2 weeks, sweep every week. I don’t move everything every time, we have stuff under the bed so it’s mostly dust around the edges.

soundsys · 19/08/2023 22:45

QGMum · 19/08/2023 21:29

Er…I haven’t mopped the bedroom floor EVER. We have lived in the house for 17 years.

Thank goodness - the voice of sanity!

(I've never mopped our bedroom floor. It's just never occurred to me to mop it! It gets hoovered weekly...)

Saltisford · 19/08/2023 22:46

Now I’m worried about the difference between spray mopping and a ‘proper mop’ - thoughts? I only spray mop as I thought that was a more efficient way of mopping?

Geppili · 19/08/2023 22:47

Never done my wooden bedroom floor in 20 odd years! It feels and looks beautiful!

sonjadog · 19/08/2023 22:51

I vacuum once a week and wash about once a month. If I never washed, the floor would be filthy.

spitefulandbadgrammar · 19/08/2023 22:51

continentallentil · 19/08/2023 21:04

Are you shagging on it regularly or something?

No time for shagging with all the mopping that needs doing.
