Talk to me about loo roll please

Looking for one that doesn’t disintegrate on use, doesn’t block the loo (so probably 2 ply, definitely not a really thick one), preferably can be bought at a supermarket. Current brand just crumbles when we use it and looking at reviews this seems to be a common problem. Any suggestions most welcome!

Andrex quilted is good, not blocked the loo here, and structurally sound.

Rainbow1901 · 09/08/2023 10:30

Nicky Elite from Home Bargains is pretty good.

Toilet is designed to disintegrate after a few moments on contact with water, I think 10 seconds comes to mind.

dementedpixie · 10/08/2023 08:12

I like andrex classic clean and buy the extra long ones when they are on offer

TurquoiseThings · 10/08/2023 08:28

I like the Cushelle Tubeless. The roll lasts twice as long because it's bigger and there's no cardboard tube at the end of it.

EvenlyDetermined · 10/08/2023 08:30

We use the recycled one from Sainsburys, no problems with it.

Mummumgem · 10/08/2023 08:33

i like Tesco luxury soft quilted, the one in the purple wrapper or the one with aloe but they don’t always have that one

Mummumgem · 10/08/2023 08:35

Just wanted to add, it copes with the granddaughters coming, and believe me they use so much paper 🙄😱 and it never blocks

Perfect28 · 10/08/2023 08:35

Support the eco ones. Who gives a crap are gorgeous, there are others.

Are you saying I'm wiping my arse too slowly? I'm pretty sure my technique is fairly standard
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll work my way through a few and see how I get on

Wet wipes for toilets are the new business, toilet paper is so yesterday.

Iftheresawilltheresaway · 11/08/2023 01:19

I use lidl Foraleys quilted. It's 3ply quilted. 16 rolls and costs £5.50. I tried umpteen and found this to be best for quality and value. Wouldn't pay Andrex and Cushelle prices and Andrex isn't what it used be quality wise.

DyslexicPoster · 11/08/2023 01:27

I use Costcos own brand. I think it's the best so far.

smooththecat · 11/08/2023 01:30

I really like the Sainsburys double rolls. Last for bloody ages and I like the actual paper.

Shoss · 11/08/2023 02:17

I buy any of the Cushelle ones when I see it on offer. Tried Velvet recently as it was on offer and the cardboard tube in the middle is huge. Andrex disintegrates when I try to use it.

BasiliskStare · 11/08/2023 02:21

@Hawkins009 No no - wet wipes - we had to get a plumber out to clear our drain because of wet wipes. Nothing more than loo roll 😁

Yfory · 11/08/2023 02:21

We have the cheapest available from tesco/lidls. Seems fine to me!

Topseyt123 · 11/08/2023 02:30

I just buy Tesco or Aldi own brands. Usually the ones that come in a 24 roll pack and are slightly quilted/with aloe. No problems with them

I wouldn't buy anything super expensive for us to shove up our arses.

BlueTeal · 12/08/2023 22:38

Who Gives a Crap is really good. I researched options when the supermarket loo roll kept leaving tiny bits behind! When I did the maths the cost was the same as the supermarket own brand we were buying so I gave it a try with £5 off. It’s actually worked out cheaper as it lasts way longer. I also love the paper wrapped rolls. We’ve had our subscription over a year and I’ve now added kitchen roll to it. I like their kitchen cloths too so add those on occasionally.

Thank you for the recommendation and £5 discount 👍🏼

ouch321 · 08/06/2024 22:06

2ply is too thin.

3ply all the way.

Elieza · 08/06/2024 22:17

Aldi one. The darkish royal blue packaging. Doesn't have anything fancy about it but way better than their other ones. I wish it came in larger than a nice pack but it doesn't.

I also use wipes and the house rule is bin these (face down so nobody sees what you wiped on them!!) rather than put down the loo and risk blocking.

It reminds me of holidaying in Greece back in the day but I feel cleaner!!

dementedpixie · 08/06/2024 22:21

I have recently converted to the plain asda so soft double rolls as they are soft and thick and last longer than standard rolls

Noticeimnotreacting · 08/06/2024 22:27

Nicky Soft Touch Toilet Tissue (on amazon). Is very reasonable and does the job. I used to buy tesco which is absolutely fine but then had issues with not being available so now bulk buy from amazon.
