Vacuum that lasts

As per username I have two cats. My carpets are short and flat, but every vacuum I buy seems to last 6 months before it practically stops sucking. Admittedly they are cheap. I decide to suck it up and buy an expensive one I want it to last and stay powerful. Any recommendations?

@TakeMyStrongHand sold me. After spending hours rubbing hair out of the carpets with a damp cloth yesterday, I've ordered a titan from Screwfix.

I've got a dyson which is still going strong after 16 years. When it packs up I'll get a Miele.

I've had my Dyson since 2004...

Still excellent. Had a couple of repairs.

I'm not sure current Dysons are as good though.

Actually the repair shop said to keep it going as long as possible as they don't make them like that anymore! It's an animal so designed for pet hair.

We regularly clean the head (it needs a haircut!) as 2 humans with long hair in the house. Also clean all the little bits very often.

It's the maintenance I think that keeps it working.
