6 more items sold on eBay and 2 pairs of socks put in the fabric recycling for the tip.

Now at 315/2023.

IndianSummer78 · 06/04/2023 16:54

Of course nobody minds heartbroken use the thread however you like. I'd do it while DD is at school then and do just a little every day maybe an hour or so while she's home. It's ok for DC to be bored sometimes though, they learn to use their imagination and entertain themselves

I've stalled a bit, having feelings of wanting to keep it all at the moment. Binned a piece of bubble wrap protecting a picture that has now gone up on the wall. Total is 461

Pigtailsandall · 06/04/2023 20:01

@heartbroken22 I find stuff sells pretty fast If the price is right. Some brands sells better, and everything else I price quite low. I'm doing it mainly from a decluttering/environmental reasons, not to earn money. But I have made just shy of £70 in three weeks selling things I'd have taken to the charity shop. Have fold 72% of the stuff I've listed (calculated just for you!) Ranging from £2.50 to £15.

Also donated 2 skincare items to a friend today so am at 635 now. I need to list some of the posh toys on vinted next

Trip to the top done today, things which I had planned to take but it's always good when they are actually gone.
Looked through a box of toys to find something and a couple of broken bits binned.

BertieBotts · 07/04/2023 12:27

DH decided to clear out the corner behind the coat rack today. Excellent... except that all he really did was throw away some of the more obvious rubbish. The rest he simply relocated into a cupboard!

It made me annoyed, but laugh too - I would have once done exactly the same!

Anyway I have finished the job:

1x broken helmet, broken rucksack, broken kids' toy to recycling
1x small bag of unwanted electricals to be taken to recycle (not open today)
Picnic blanket and bulky remote control thing relocated to the outdoor toys
My handbag and 1x baby sling put back on coat rack
Foldable baby sling relocated to changing bag
Kid's bag, leather suitcase, other sling, raincover for old buggy, decent condition helmet all to donate

I left the air conditioning unit in the cupboard.

seperatedmum · 07/04/2023 14:55

another surprise out today of a bulky item on Olio I'd had time-wasters with, a lady messaged before 8am and it's just been collected also STBXH took a big box of dump misc

IndianSummer78 · 07/04/2023 18:50

I got rid of a top and some pyjama bottoms that were past their best. Total is 463

Vinorosso74 · 08/04/2023 12:04

Not checked in for a while. Bit disappointed only one thing I listed has sold on Vinted.
We had to buy a new kitchen bin as the old one fell apart so DP took that and some other bits to the dump on Thursday which included a broken mop, batteries, bulbs, knackered cables and a bin bag of shredded paper.
Spent an hour tidying the back garden this morning. It's not perfect but the weeds have gone and it looks tidier.
I have some winter pyjamas which are past their best so am going to get rid of them once it is warmer. After having loads of socks, I now seem to have loads of knickers. Not sure how.

seperatedmum · 08/04/2023 17:30

2 big bags of outgrown dressing up things out there's still some in smaller sizes I'll have to go through
1 unused game being collected

PopethYnIawn · 08/04/2023 18:05

A broekn plastic laundry bin, filled with plastic/metal garden waste gone to the tip today. Included metal plates, water bottle, and other crap.

I've scrubbed the 2 patio areas, garden path, and front steps. And general tidy of the garden.

IndianSummer78 · 08/04/2023 18:28

Gone today. Total is 479

  • storage bin, not needed
  • 7 net curtains, don't fit current home
  • one pair bedroom curtains, doesn't fit current home
  • 2 curtain rods, not meeded
  • 2 pairs jeans, too small
  • 2 dresses, too small
  • 1 pair slippers, worn out
BertieBotts · 08/04/2023 18:33

We took a load of old batteries to the battery recycling point at the supermarket. Yay! They didn't take lightbulbs though.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 08/04/2023 20:01

So I can't really tell you exactly what's gone out today but I've been doing a 5 min tidy in each room and chucked out 2 bags of rubbish, broken toys, UPO's, and old magazines/paperwork.

heartbroken22 · 09/04/2023 09:09

@stealthninjamum @IndianSummer78 @Pigtailsandall thank you all x

I took out 5 bags of toys my kids didn't want. I was sick and tired of picking small bits up. Got rid of as much I could. Felt guilty but then realised we always get new toys.

Pigtailsandall · 09/04/2023 09:53

@heartbroken22 that's good going, toys can totally become clutter fast! I've really simplified our toys and my DC has missed nothing.

I sold a further 3 items on Vinted (for peanuts, but anyway) and gave a hair oil and a hazelnut chocolate to a friend (I'm allergic). I might try for a bigger push on Monday

Total is 640

I bought some bits from vinted and charity shops for the kids. I used to love trawling charity shops but I have cut right back in recent years. We went to a seaside town that has amazing charity shops so I gave in. I bought 6 things for £8. I know I shouldn't but it was cheap and I keep telling myself it's OK for the kids to wear second hand stuff then get rid as it's cheap and has no sentimental or momentary value. That needs working on!
5 fat face tops in from Vinted too for ds11.

The good part is that there are a few things he has outgrown and shredded so that can out once it's washed.

IncessantNameChanger · 09/04/2023 12:14

In =26
Out = 35

Therefore time to list again on Vinted!

BertieBotts · 09/04/2023 19:10

DS was playing Lego the other day so I went through our box, which is a total mix of everything including some really old stuff from the 80s, and collated all the wheels. Threw away some that we only had 3 or 1 or 1.5 (!) of, and some broken pieces. There was one set of 4 wheels I stuck in the box of advanced Lego for later in case it turns out we miss them, but there was one set that I was absolutely sick of and I threw those away too. I'm sure Lego purists would be upset and maybe I ought to have gone through all the manuals and identified them first but oh well! My aim was to make it so that when you search through for wheels, you're likely to find a matching set, not just three random wheels that don't match.

BertieBotts · 09/04/2023 19:11

I do need to go through the clothes badly. DC are growing again.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/04/2023 19:36

Bag of rubbish out today including a balding old bath mat, various packaging etc. I've got a clear hallway which is an incredibly nice feeling!

IndianSummer78 · 09/04/2023 23:45

One worn out top gone. Total is 480

Nordicmom · 10/04/2023 07:09

We are still away travelling but there’s a few things to go :
-1 DD too short skipping rope
-1 DD small sweatshirt dress to charity
-1 DD finished book to charity

I’ve also been deleting a lot of old pictures from my phone which isn’t quite as satisfying as getting rid of physical things but nearly …

seperatedmum · 10/04/2023 08:06

we're away but actually I did declutter yesterday; 2 new pairs of runners/trainers and 2 pairs leggings out to family
and Ryanair decluttered £55 coz they wouldn't let child checkin online 😤

SydneyCarton · 10/04/2023 08:06

Fell off the old thread and just found the new one! I can’t remember how many items I was up to but I’ve now got rid of two bags of DCs outgrown clothes and a few pairs of shoes. Everything else has just been odd bits and pieces here and there, or replaced by new ones, although I did manage to get DD1 to bin a Frozen make up box which had been open for years and gone a bit gross.

PopethYnIawn · 10/04/2023 14:42

1 pair of trainers handed down.
10 x books to go.
1 bag of old doily/linens (approx 30 items)
Craft stuff sorted and scrappy bits gone.

My house is starting to look less cluttered, the aim being an easier to keep tidy home. I'm enjoying seeing what other people are getting done, it helps motivate me!
