Hello everyone, iWelcome back to our regulars, and if you are new or returning, a huge welcome to you as well! Please feel free to post or lurk, whatever helps you most.

This is an incredibly helpful thread and the system can be confusing but someone on here will be able to answer your questions and get you on track.

So, Flylady. That mysterious system that promises a lovely clean house! This link is a good place to read about the basic principles, but we strongly recommend ignoring the first bit - do not sign up for emails as you’ll be inundated!

www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

If you’re new to the system, or are wanting a refresher course, the baby steps may be a good idea. Some are more useful than others, we’ve found, and stuff like affirmations may not work for you, so pick and choose what you want to try. You don’t have to do it all! Perfectionism can be left at the door, we celebrate any achievement here no matter how small it seems (this is why you’ll see our Ta Da lists as well as To Do lists!).

www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/

There are parts of the house called zones, each taking a different part of the month, and missions in those zones to do little tasks we may have neglected. If you don’t feel ready for those though, a good way to start is doing 15 minutes decluttering in that zone! Remember it didn’t get messy in a day so it won’t be fixed in a day either. Slow and steady.

Then there’s the daily focus - each day of the week has a theme, although many of us switch them around to suit our own lives.

Each day I’ll provide the link to the launch pad, which is where you can see what is meant to be done that day (but again don’t feel you have to do all of it! That way lies burnout!).

A couple of principles we talk about on here are:
Future Friend - the idea of doing something today that benefits you later, such as choosing your clothes or making your lunch the night before.
Power of Three (po3) - if you’re overwhelmed, just pick three easy tasks - no matter how small - and forget about the rest until they’re done. Then reassess and decide another three.

Finally a few acronyms:
DW - dishwasher, not dear wife!
LOL - load of laundry, we aren’t finding washing hilarious
WM - washing machine
TD - tumble dryer

Oooh, I love the lanterns pompoms 😍

More ta das:
🐶 showered, dressed, makeup on, hair pulled back
🐶took dogs to groomer
🐶 filled up the Jeep with fuel
🐶 ran the Jeep through the carwash
🐶 bathed the dogs
🐶 cleaned the dogs kennels
🐶 washed and dried their beds and blankets
🐶 washed some walls along the stairs
🐶 remade our bed
🐶 2 more LOLs going right now
🐶 lunch with DH and FIL (he showed up as a surprise before DH did, which I have no problem with)

I'm going to see if mum is available to video chat while I get on with more stuff, not including vacuuming as that'll be too loud!

HungryHazelEyes · 28/03/2023 22:41

Ta Das:
🐶 1 more lol
🐶 vacuumed main floor of the house
🐶 currently waiting for DS to come out of school, I'm picking him up today so he can bring his trombone home, if he remembers and doesn't get on the bus!

HungryHazelEyes · 29/03/2023 00:55

More ta das (almost 6pm here):
🫧 3 more LOLs, including DS's sheets in the washer currently, blankets from the couch
🫧 cleaned the vacuum, it has been far too long!
🫧 mopped the floors
🫧 cleaned the bathrooms
🫧 put more laundry away, had DS put his clothes away too
🫧 wiped the fronts of the washer & dryer

I'm currently sitting down, taking a break, before I have to supervise DS prepping dinner. There's not much more for me to do, other than possibly more LOLs. We seemed to have got behind!

THURSDAY

www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60

☔️errand day
☔️mission: Check the floors in your living room. Look at that two inches all the way around the walls and baseboards that seems to get missed with the vacuum and the broom. Your mission today is to use the vacuum and really concentrate on that area, you can also use a vegetable or toilet bowl brush to loosen the hair and dirt that gets caught up against the wall.
A vegetable??? A toilet brush!?? Or just a damp cloth will be fine. *
*
☔️** LOL a day keeps the chaos away.

pompoms ewww, a toilet brush!? Sometimes I wonder about flylady! I certainly wouldn't be using that! There's also an attachment on most vacuums that's specifically made for that job! 🤦‍♀️

DS'S job every day is to wash one lol a day, during the week, other than Tuesdays, when I'm home. It really does help, although I seemed to have more LOLs to wash this week than usual 🤷‍♀️

I know you had asked about who can run April, I really would love to, I just don't think I'd make a good thread leader as I don't have time to post every day!

EspeciallyDedicated · 30/03/2023 14:59

I did offer to do it back at the beginning of the month @HungryHazelEyes and still happy to do so. But if you want to try I don't think anyone would mind if the occasional day got missed.

HungryHazelEyes · 30/03/2023 18:03

I'll let you do it ED I'm not that brave yet!

FRIDAY: www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60&d=1

✅Clean car and purse

✅Dear Friends,
Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes.
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

SATURDAY: family time

SUNDAY/ renew your spirit.

Is there anyone who is able to run the April thread at all?

OP posts:
EspeciallyDedicated · 30/03/2023 20:11

Yes, I'll do it @icypompoms . You've done a brilliant job of it the last two months. I'll set it up tomorrow.

DomesticElf · 30/03/2023 21:17

Long day here, and it's feeling a bit like a merry go round. Can't wait for the weekend, just somehow need to survive tomorrow.

Ta das:
💥LOL on and out to dry
💥Dry laundry folded and put away
💥DW rotated and kitchen cleaned
💥today's zone cleaning done
💥Living room tidied

I really need to get on top of filing, hopefully will get to it somehow before the weekend (don't know how as I am doing on call shift tomorrow).

Thanks @EspeciallyDedicated you have the right username!

I have a selection of ED names stashed away, I think I might go back to ExtremelyDetermined for next month Grin

DomesticElf · 31/03/2023 21:55

Ugh. Did not do any housework today. And so no one else did. House is upside down. I don't have the get go to get it sorted just now. Tomorrow it will have to be.
