Clothes Airer - Yes, it’s a boring one

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 24/01/2023 21:54

I need a new indoor clothes airer. Don’t need a fancy heated one as really don’t have a socket close enough to where we dry our clothes. Can’t be bothered with the tumble dryer as even though Indesit ‘fixed’ the fault, it started smoking the last time I used it.

So, I’m after a decent indoor airer. Bought an Addis one from tkmaxx and that broke after a few months of using it. So, mil bought us a replacement one from the Range and that’s broken now as it’s flimsy and won’t hold much. Any ideas or links to airers?

If you’ve got this far 🏅

Me too! My mum has a super strong one she got from Sainsburys years ago but haven't seen one in there. I just want a normal one! None of those with weird 'wings' either side!

daisydoods · 24/01/2023 21:58

We've got 2 minky 3 tier ones and they're fab, had them years. Also got a smaller tiered one from Asda but it's only really good for the kids stuff - not wide enough to dry adult clothes

Certain we paid less at the time mind!

Have you tried Aldi? They have them in the middle aisle this week. The three tier concertina style ones that last for decades. (And trap your fingers if you aren’t quick!)

ThePoshUns · 24/01/2023 22:02

Definitely don't bother with a heated one.
I can get more on my Minky and it dries just as quick as
My heater one did

This is the best I can find www.robertdyas.co.uk/addis-extendable-3-tier-airer-silver#reviews

I have the same one as @Howeverdoyouneedme. Its sturdy and does the job.

I've recently bought this one and I love it. It fits loads on but doesn't take up lots of space, I like the fact I can wheel it about too.

Lalala0 · 24/01/2023 22:06

I have an amazing one and I rave about it at every opportunity haha!

Search on amazon:

Innotic Clothes Drying Rack 3 Tier Collapsible Rolling Stainless Laundry Dryer Hanger with Casters for Indoor, Grey

It's the one that's currently on offer for £33.39. Honestly so worth the money, it holds 2 loads, can fold down areas that aren't in use, on wheels so in the summer it's easy to wheel outside then back in again. It's so tall, probably about 5ft 5.

I've got that one too, bloody love it - can easily fit 2 enormous loads on that bad boy 😀

SchoolTripDrama · 24/01/2023 22:11

That same one is even cheaper here and with free click & collect direct.asda.com/george/home/cleaning-laundry/addis-metallic-extendable-3-tier-airer/050031780,default,pd.html

I have this one too and it is amazing. Fits a 10kg wash on and is very sturdy x

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 24/01/2023 22:28

@Amipreg1 that looks like the type I’d go for. It’s as tall as me and has wheels, looks sturdy too. Food for thought, just got to convince dh now. Not sure why, as he’s not the one that does the laundry 🤔

I have this one and it is one of my favourite things (I realise that must seem absurd)

www.leifheit.co.uk/leifheit-pegasus-190-tower-free-standing-clothes-laundry-airer-dryer-371-p.asp?gclid=CjwKCAiAoL6eBhA3EiwAXDom5jxQ4b-60w2WN5ZoJOBo80P3LXh0ERMXpnML5u5XtenI1LEtqoPj_BoCDjMQAvD_BwE

Not dissimilar to the innotic one (have taken note of that suggestion!) But I have a narrow space, so two of the above, standing side by side, work better for me than a bigger footprint one would. Plus they collapse to almost flat (like an ironing board). Anyway - I LOVE mine and have had them at least ten years.

StarboysMum · 24/01/2023 22:36

I highly recommend this simple one:

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/jaell-drying-rack-in-outdoor-white-80242892/

I dry a lot of things on hangers, which I put on a clothes rail. The IKEA rack takes mainly bottoms which we store in drawers.

Pants and socks go on these:
www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/pressa-hanging-dryer-16-clothes-pegs-turquoise-10421217/

Hope this helps! Everyone has their own best way I know, but for me putting a full load on one airer doesn't work, so I like to space things out.

Copperoliverbear · 24/01/2023 22:38

I love mine x

I have an indoor washing line in my dining room! Great if you have small kids as my youngest kept removing the damp clothes off my airer and returning them to the washing machine, so helpful! Now she can't reach them thankfully 😅

I have this too and it's great, on wheels, fits loads. Be sure to assemble it VERY firmly though.
