Spice jar storage

Chasingsquirrels · 29/09/2022 20:14

Has anyone got one of these, and any comments on it?

I don't have masses and masses so 24 should be plenty.

Jars not included and I'd be putting supermarket type herb & spice jars on it - mainly Tesco & Aldi.
Looks like it would fit comfortably in a wall cupboard and improve organisation.

Or suggestions for your amazing spice jar storage.

I did try a inside cupboard door rack, but didn't like how the jars rattled when the door was opened/closed.

Jars wouldn't all be the same size or shape, but should fit. And they all tend to have labels on the lid to identify contents.

I have these and really rate them

SheWoreYellow · 29/09/2022 20:22

I use a drawer. Thank you Sainsburys for labelling the lids.

I have tried many systems! The best imho is a transparent tiered lazy Susan from Amazon with adjustable shelves. I can't link at the moment sorry but they make excellent use of cupboard space as you can use full height of shelf, and most important of all, they make it easy to view and grab contents and it's easy to return the contents too!

lunar1 · 29/09/2022 20:31

I second the lazy Susan, that's what I use. They are about £3 in home bargains.

lunar1 · 29/09/2022 20:33

Just to add a warning though, I'm gradually adding a lazy Susan to every cupboard. I got giant ones for food and cleaning supplies, it's addictive

RagzRebooted · 29/09/2022 20:33

I use little baskets i

RagzRebooted · 29/09/2022 20:35

Arghh.
Little baskets inside the cupboard, with one for spices, one for herbs and one for baking spices. Extra one for random packets etc. Lift out whichever is needed.
I buy all different makes and sizes so the fancy solutions don't work and I don't have the space for a lazy Susan.

Sockmonkeysloth · 29/09/2022 20:37

I used to use a basket until Waitrose spices stopped labelling the lid and used it for a promotion instead. Now I have a lazy Susan, the spinning of which pleases me immensely 😊

coffeetofunction · 29/09/2022 20:38

I reuse old jars and label them.

Explaintome · 29/09/2022 20:38

I've spent 30 years trying to solve this problem. A drawer is the way, with labels on the tops of the jars.

FictionalCharacter · 29/09/2022 20:41

That looks good, where can you get them?

Chasingsquirrels · 29/09/2022 21:08

yorkshireteaparty · 29/09/2022 20:21

I looked at these but decided that they wouldn't hold that many.

Presumably if you use baskets you have to take them out to pick the jars you want though?

I get that lazy susan's would work, but I REALLY don't like them 🙄

Mine live in a shoe box. It works very well. When I need spices, I get the shoe box out. It's a bit random, but it suits me as I am not one for organisation. I also loathe spice racks or similar. I don't want to look at my herbs and spices - I just want to use them when they need to be used.

embolass · 29/09/2022 21:40

vintage style cake tin on top of vintage style fridge 😂 simple and works a treat

Cynderella · 30/09/2022 08:06

I have a few magnetic ones on the side of the fridge (I know they should be out of daylight), but the ones I use all the time are now in a drawer. I have some empty jars that had jam in - donated by my daughter who got them in a hamper, and I've bought some that don't match but are the same size. I buy big jars of peppercorns, turmeric, paprika etc and fill them. I have teaspoons in the same drawer - hate those little jars you can't get a teaspoon in.

Less used spices, yes, I'm looking at you, allspice and mustard seeds, are at the back of a pull out larder drawer with things like home made vanilla extract that's maturing and spare jars of pesto.

I no longer keep all spices and herbs together - they have to earn a prime place.

Love a Lazy Susan too :-)

BellaBella38 · 01/10/2022 20:58

That's a really smart looking bit of kit. We have naff all counter space so went with small wall mounted shelves.

Chasingsquirrels · 01/10/2022 21:00

Just realised its a set of two! I ordered yesterday so hopefully will do the job but if not then it's returnable. I only wanted 1 though 🤣

A drawer here too. With the spices & herbs in alphabetical order

Ladybyrd · 01/10/2022 21:05

I think it would be a faff to find what you're looking for unless you label the lids. Looks nice, but not very practical.
