Just realised we filled up Thread 2 without a way to link to this one, can’t see that anyone else has started one?

I did drop back the borrowed boots, go me!

didn’t tackle the umbrella pot/dumping ground though

I’m impressed by the hot water bottle they was made in West Germany!

No actual decluttering since the weekend, but I did a big clean of the kitchen worktops on Monday and got rid of some junk mail piled on the microwave, and yesterday I went through the Pile of Stuff on the dining table and got rid of about half of it, so I’m trying to keep on top of the everyday clutter.

Pigtailsandall · 16/02/2023 09:16

We were on holidays so not much decluttering BUT I did bin things on the trip!

3 samples of skincare which I took with me and actually used
pair of socks which had really prominent holes
an eyeliner left at the bottom of my makeup bag for ages, which I didn't like and never used

I also deleted a big bunch of photos on my phone which felt v good. I'll count that session as 1 thing

total is 97 now. I feel like I need to challenge myself somehow to get more momentum going - we got back last night so I could do a bit more now.

Pigtailsandall · 16/02/2023 11:36

OK, quick sweep while taking the bins out and found 2 small, melted candles, one tiny plastic toy and a cream we had for DC when they were tiny. 101 items. Feels good to break 100!

EmmaEmerald · 16/02/2023 19:59

Pigtails good job, you've done a lot.

I have given up on this week. I thought my cold had gone but my ears are blocked and my eyes are watering like from hayfever? I went to sleep after dinner again, last night I slept 10 hours. I am just wanting to get the washing up done before I nod off again!

Pineappleapple · 16/02/2023 21:02

Decided to use up some left over sparklers this evening. Two have been hanging around since bonfire night. They didn't light! Tried a packet I bought on Amazon in lockdown, two didn't work, so they have gone too. Maybe they have an expiry, good they are gone even though it was a bit disappointing. Nothing else gone today

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 17/02/2023 06:29

Decluttered yesterday -

Thirteen children's books that were part of a monthly book club. They look unopened. Going to friend with visiting children. I'm happy for her to sell them on. I don't want the hassle.

Two pairs outgrown wellies, in nearly new condition.

Moomoola · 17/02/2023 07:50

Hello! emmaemarald I’m popping by from another thread as you suggested. Sorry you’ve been feeling pants, I hope you get better soon.

it’s great to hear all your achievements! I may even get brave enough to take those books to oxfam.

Pigtailsandall · 17/02/2023 08:21

I feel like I e gained a bit of momentum after a week of nothing happening.
Yesterday I finally chucked out 2 pairs of summer sandals - they were so grubby and no way I could have got another summer out of them. I wore them to death though, so definitely got my money's worth. Also used up another sample. At 104 now.

I have some stuff for textile recycling and I'll do a second sweep later to see if there's anything more to add.

seperatedmum · 17/02/2023 08:36

well I different olio-er collected the drawer divider yesterday nothing else out really, rugby boots keep appearing but I'll keep them for youngest, had a tough day with phone GP appointment, filling PIP form, actual migraine to prove the form 🙄 and finding something unpleasant in the garden. what a day

stealthninjamum · 17/02/2023 12:15

separatedmum dd likes the hot water bottle cover but I haven’t found a replacement hot water bottle as it’s a specific size. It’s only two years old but when you have autistic kids you tend to think ahead. It might be possible to keep it as I only let her use it to warm the bed - but I do find her cuddling it - so maybe in a years time she’ll be mature enough not to cuddle it. It’s her favourite breed of dog.

I have been making Lego sets and playmobil sets. I’ve put a few on Facebook for sale and I wonder if there’s a new scam because I have had some odd but identical replies with links to other sites. Anyway someone wanted to buy a Duplo set and collect at 8.30. So I pointlessly got dressed and they didn’t turn up.

I haven’t managed to do any proper decluttering other than using up a moisturiser and I did my usual Friday car clean out - which I’ve been doing for about two years since I was in flylady for about a month. It’s nice to know I can give people lifts and the car isn’t too dirty these days.

ememem84 · 17/02/2023 15:11

Dropped off bag at charity shop today so that’s gone. Binned a pair of black slouchy suede boots which had seen better days.

also managed to break a mug after lunch today so that’s another decluttering!

Bottl · 17/02/2023 16:04

Not much decluttering happening here over the last couple of weeks. It doesn't take much to derail me Blush

Sold two items on eBay that have been on there for months and they were collected this morning so I'm pleased about that and £70 into the pot!

It's half term here next week and I'm only working 2 days so going to try and make a big dent in all the clutter - could do with generating some more funds to make up for only 2 days' work so need to get on top of the eBay pile!!

seperatedmum · 17/02/2023 18:20

@stealthninjamum maybe look in random pharmacies when you're out and about for the odd sized hot water bottle? they have all sorts of well, random 🤣
my DD is autistic 🧩

Pigtailsandall · 17/02/2023 18:41

I took a bag of clothing to the charity shop (7 items, including a cardigan I love but realistically have mit worn in 4 years) and a bag to textile recycling (10 items). I felt immediately lighter. DC was with me as its half term but I bribed them with a Costa gingerbread cookie.

Tomorrow morning DH and DC are going to the theatre so I have a few hours alone - might tackle another little area

121 items. Feeling accomplished.

toomanyhobbies · 17/02/2023 19:22

the other week I emptied out mine and Dh wardrobe (large built in one) as it had become a mess and lots of bits just shoved in on the floor. Got a whole bin bag full to the charity shop. Had got some new velvet hangers so things don’t slip off. Cleaned and organised it all so nice. Bag went to charity shop along with some bits that had been in my car since before Christmas. Also took some saucepans (used for camping) and some hand weights.

Tent that Dh advertised finally sold just need to go through over camping bits and see what we want to keep as will use or get rid of.

Today have been through the 4x2 kalax in our room for rind of 4 bottles of Nivea aftershave balm that dh doesn’t use and some body lotion that I don’t like that’s been hanging around for years. I have so much body lotion I need to get back to using it again. Also boned some curly hair products and fake tan I’ve not used for a few years.

Our room is still a mess as when sorting out other rooms the bits that didn’t have a home have ended up there.

I’ve also spent a couple of days sorting lego in to sets so Ds can rebuild them.

I’ve advertised some kids books (got them from niece as there were some for ds these are ones he won’t read) an orchard toy and 2 dog harnesses on Fb hopefully they don’t take too long to sell.

I had some bits to put away but the drawers where they go need sorting so I’ve been putting off putting them away. Tonight I just put them in the drawers so they are there ready for when the drawers get sorted.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 18/02/2023 03:48

Friend came round and took set of children's books.

Decluttered -

Two more children's books that I never liked.

Three ripped school jerseys and one holey pair of leggings for ragbag.

ememem84 · 18/02/2023 08:18

Ins. Friend gave dd a bag of Disney dress up costumes.

toomanyhobbies · 18/02/2023 17:32

Listed some dress costumes on marketplace this afternoon and 1 shoUld
be collected tonight.

also the books I listed last night (originally give to Ds by niece) well niece wants one back so that will be an out too.

Sorted out the medicine drawer in the bathroom and a 8 items going as out of date.

seperatedmum · 18/02/2023 17:42

kids sarries top requested so that'll be an out was too good for charity pile

toomanyhobbies · 18/02/2023 17:47

Also sorted through the summer hats and winter hats gloves etc a few items to go to charity and 3 school hats to give to pta uniform sale DS never wore them.

EllieQ · 18/02/2023 18:41

Three items of DD’s clothing into charity bag - stuff I got as part of an eBay bundle but wasn’t keen on, so no sentimental issues there.

I also went through the bags in the bottom of the wardrobe to find the last few age 5-6 clothes, which are now awaiting sorting. I also reorganised the bags in the process. One bag now contains age 6-7 summer clothes that may fit again this summer, and the other contains clothes in the next size up, so they’re easier to find.

Bottl · 18/02/2023 18:54

Ooh, lots of stuff getting sorted out this weekend!!

I've cleared two small areas that have been used as a dumping ground since Christmas. Most things have gone in the bin/recycling and a few things into the charity shop pile.

IndianSummer78 · 18/02/2023 21:03

I've been decluttering all day.

🗑️One jumper and one pair of pyjamas into the charity bag.
🗑️Thinned the artwork out by 50%.
🗑️A few empty boxes hanging around "just in case" went into the recycling.
🗑️Tidied up the craft supplies and binned about 1/4 of it, there was far too much and it was chaos.

I can see where and what everything is now. Total is 125

EmmaEmerald · 18/02/2023 22:21

Well, I made up for my useless week today. Did lots of sorting and organising. I'm hoping that setting up systems will be worth the effort.

my plan for tomorrow is to get paperwork in order but then off out in the afternoon.

I saw an episode of the Big Bang Theory where Sheldon organises a cupboard of doom at his friend's house and really enjoys doing it. I wish I knew someone who loved doing stuff like that! It was funny as I was watching it for a quick break!

I had two intervals of doing keyboard practice which really helped break up the dullness as well, though now I have Abba "Take a chance on me" as an ear worm.

Bottl · 19/02/2023 17:16

2 big bags filled for the charity shop - including 2 snorkels and masks!!

1 Christmas box emptied and refilled with rubbish/recycling

1 chest of 3 drawers emptied - 1/2 will be donated/ebayed. The other half needs to be redistributed somewhere for now - might try and go through the other chest of drawers and see if I can clear space there for it.
