Which all-in-one dishwasher tablets are best?!

I have a Bosch dishwasher that I bought last year for about £600, so it really ought to be working well. I'm hoping the problem is just the dishwasher tablets. I was using Ecover and the results were OK but not great. I'm now using Sainsbury's Greencare and the results are terrible.

After the dishwasher had run, everything was covered in a slimy, sticky white film. I cleaned the filter of the dishwasher, ran it empty on a machine-clean cycle with cleaner in it, then refilled it and ran it again. The results are slightly better but still with the white film, which has not completely gone even though I've now washed stuff up by hand.

The tablets are supposedly all-in-one but I've put rinse aid (Waitrose own) in the machine anyway, and I'm going to get some salt.

Really hope some different dishwasher tablets will result in stuff coming out actually clean!

Thanks for any recommendations!

Fairy platinum here as well. Never used rinse aid or salt. Can always find them half price on Ocado.

Is your tap water soft or hard?

As PP we are in a soft water area and don't use rinse aid or salt as they leave residue on the glassware.

I tried lidl in an effort to cost cut but the result was as you describe! I've gone back to finish all in one.

Used to use whatever brand was on offer, but recently switched to Tesco own brand. Hard water area but we have a water softener.

AnnaMagnani · 13/08/2022 16:11

The cheapest ones from Lidl, however whatever you use they will be better with rinse aid and salt.

I have found all eco dishwasher tablets to be crap. Which is a shame.

I am currently using the standard Fairy ones, with salt added into the dishwasher as I am in a hard water area.

If I use cheaper tablets I find I need rinse aid too.

Lidl the 3 in 1 ones that don’t need to unwrap are brilliant, always had sparkling clean glasses, plates and cutlery.

Fairy platinum

Aldi. Nothing else.

I like Smol, get my pack delivered each month. Love that all the packaging is recyclable too.

dandelionthistle · 19/08/2022 22:03

Aldi and nothing else. Hard water area. Everything comes out nice and clean.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2022 22:38

Fairy Platinum. Soft water area. I found the cheaper ones didn't remove tea stains from my mugs.

MissDollyMix · 19/08/2022 22:43

Hard water area. I never bother with branded- my favourite supermarket ones are probably either Tesco or Morrisons (also I really rate Tesco laundry powder- in my washing machine that is, on clothes, not in my dishwasher!) Plenty of salt and rinse aid (again, own brand is fine) Keep the filters nice and clean and I never have any problems. Our last Bosch dishwasher died after only 2 years though. The repair guy said they were poorly made these days, so I don’t really rate them.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 19/08/2022 22:46

Mine’s a Bosch. I’ve always used the Aldi 11in1 lemon with no extras. Hard water. Perfect results. Well apart from everything squeaks but I’m trying to get used to that… still… as I’d longed for a DW for so long!

I use fairy. I get them from home bargains as they're best value there! This week I got 90 for £10. I'm in a really hard water area so I add salt as well but not rinse aid. I also clean and despair my dishwasher regularly.
