Which all-in-one dishwasher tablets are best?!

I have a Bosch dishwasher that I bought last year for about £600, so it really ought to be working well. I'm hoping the problem is just the dishwasher tablets. I was using Ecover and the results were OK but not great. I'm now using Sainsbury's Greencare and the results are terrible.

After the dishwasher had run, everything was covered in a slimy, sticky white film. I cleaned the filter of the dishwasher, ran it empty on a machine-clean cycle with cleaner in it, then refilled it and ran it again. The results are slightly better but still with the white film, which has not completely gone even though I've now washed stuff up by hand.

The tablets are supposedly all-in-one but I've put rinse aid (Waitrose own) in the machine anyway, and I'm going to get some salt.

Really hope some different dishwasher tablets will result in stuff coming out actually clean!

Thanks for any recommendations!

I like the Aldi ones, and they came out the best in a Which report. But I still use rinseaid and salt.

FrazzleDazz · 11/08/2022 15:06

I find if the dishwasher isn't topped up with salt & rinse aid it doesn't matter which tablet I use there is always a film on the glasses etc, so maybe try that Smile

Nsky62 · 11/08/2022 15:08

You need rinse aid and salt, used both you mentioned, and now on bio d no probs at all

Petrarkanian · 11/08/2022 15:10

I use Morrisons own brand. I've never used rinse aid and salt, I don't know what that is. Glasses are never slimy.

srey · 11/08/2022 15:14

I use Lidl own - the ones you don't have to unwrap I think they're called advance - but. I also use rinse aid and salt.

gingercat02 · 11/08/2022 15:27

I use Sainsbury DW powder it seems fine but I do use salt and rinse aid as we have vvvv hard water

switchoff1 · 11/08/2022 15:33

I use smol (subscription ones) more eco conscious with packaging etc

abovedecknotbelow · 11/08/2022 15:34

As pps have said rinse aid and salt (oddly, the salt is really difficult to get hold of here at the moment and has been for some time.

abovedecknotbelow · 11/08/2022 15:35

I use whatever tabs are on offer, I don't find any o them better than the others

Xanadu58 · 11/08/2022 15:35

Fairy platinum. That's all I use

Xanadu58 · 11/08/2022 15:37

Oh and I still use rinse aid and salt. My machine adjusts the amount needed.

Floralnomad · 11/08/2022 15:37

I use Fairy platinum but also have salt and rinse aid in the dishwasher . We have a Bosch which is about 18 months old and it gets through tons of rinse aid but we’ve only refilled the salt once . Don’t have any issues with things coming out clean . I do use a finish dishwasher cleaner once a month .

This!!

We have very soft water, and find that the really, really cheap ones (£2.50/40) work by far the best. Jack's; Tesco own; Aldi etc.

Spanielsarepainless · 11/08/2022 15:43

Lidl. Eco ones are crap.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 11/08/2022 15:50

We have very hard water so I use Fairy platinum ones + salt + rinse aid.

SallyWD · 11/08/2022 16:11

The Aldi own brand one. I think it's called Magnum or something... All my glasses were looking misty until I used Magnum and now they're sparkling again!

Thank you so much for the replies - really helpful.

I have a £600 Bosch dishwasher (I didn't pay for it) and use Aldi dishwasher tablets - they're fine.

BertieBotts · 11/08/2022 16:28

All in ones are a con, you have to use salt and rinse aid anyway.

We actually got better results switching to liquid and no longer use tablets at all. Sometimes I chuck half of a cheap one in the bottom of the machine to work as a pre-wash.

gogohmm · 11/08/2022 16:29

Lidl own brand lemon

Mosaic123 · 11/08/2022 16:29

I have a Miele dishwasher and use all in one Fairy ones. I use rinse aid and salt too. It's generally very good

GiantKitten · 11/08/2022 16:30

Fairy platinum plus (with no rinse aid, no salt).
They're regularly half price at Ocado and do a lovely job.
Best on test at Which 🙂

Anything but fairy, which I think are pants.
BUT, I can tell when rinse aid or salt are running low, as it doesn't clean as well as usual. So I'd say try filling up with those first.

I generally wait until finish classic are on offer at Amazon.

Disneyblueeyes · 11/08/2022 16:42

Tesco's own.
Fairy platinum is a rip off. As is Finish.
