Has anyone ever used a passport holder?

DS and I have leather Irish passport holders, DH doesn't have a holder, but the literal answer to your question is in the crisp and biscuit cupboard. Grin

newtb · 09/06/2022 17:38

Mine's in my handbag, all the time. I live in France, and even with a titre de séjour, thé police have the right to demand it in a roadside control.

UrsulaPandress · 09/06/2022 17:41

I used to have a beautiful passport holder but got fed up of having to take it out of the holder at passport control.

mubarak86 · 09/06/2022 17:44

Passport control always huff and puff at our passport covers. We only used them to identify whose was whose quickly.
Keep them in my wardrobe.

purplecorkheart · 09/06/2022 17:52

Bottom drawer of bedside locker.

This.

At home I keep them in a drawer in the study.

TheFlis12345 · 09/06/2022 17:54

We have passport holders to protect them, then they are kept in a zipped leather bag (bit like a flat makeup bag) in a bedside drawer along with anything else travel related such as leftover currency.

Topseyt123 · 09/06/2022 17:56

All the family passports are kept in the top drawer of my desk.

Mine has a nice passport holder, as does DD3's, but it is a shame that you do have take them out at passport control.

KarrotKake · 09/06/2022 18:09

In a fireproof grab bag, with other difficult to replace, never available electronically, paperwork.

bellsbuss · 09/06/2022 18:11

They are kept all together in a pouch in a sideboard drawer , apart from eldest child who holidays separately from us now.

Saisong · 09/06/2022 18:14

I've got a fake book type thing with a hollow inside that lives on a bookshelf and hold passports and other identity type things. I want a fire safe though.

MadameDragon · 09/06/2022 18:15

Fireproof bag in a secret compartment of the sofa

lightand · 09/06/2022 18:16

Just read about a lady whose house burnt down.
Keep the most important documents in one drawer, next to a window. In event of fire, will take the drawer out of the house.

Josoliesmlaurdog · 09/06/2022 18:17

I think mine is in a drawer in sitting room…need to look because I am off on holiday next week 🙄

potteringinmysocks · 09/06/2022 18:18

I wish I was as organised as you guys! Mines generally in my jewellery box, or the junk drawer in the kitchen, or DH's bits and bobs box. Mine and DH's passports are frustratingly not always found in the same location either!

I like @TheFlis12345 idea of having a nice case where left over travel money is also kept... I'm going to do this! Good intentions but know I'll never actually get round to getting nice case and having a specific drawer to keep it in!

Have reported the thread.
Not sure it is wise to tell all.

Chaoslatte · 09/06/2022 18:20

A fireproof bag sounds like a good idea, where did you get them from @KarrotKake @MadameDragon ?

Can't see the issue. Nobody is publishing their full names and addresses. Why report?

Apart from the crisp cupboard, I don’t think anyone’s posted a location a thief wouldn’t think to look on their own if that’s what you’re worried about.

Didn't know these even existed! Thanks for the link 👍🏻

Oblomov22 · 09/06/2022 18:37

@lightand

What else do you important documents, other than passport, that we should grab, in case of fire?

Lulu1919 · 09/06/2022 18:38

I keep them in my knicker drawer
When using they are just naked ...using a nice cover was a pain as had to take it out at passport control !!!

RhubarbFairy · 09/06/2022 18:41

In the crap drawer.

We don't have passport holders. Had one as a teen and I got bored of having to remove them so didn't bother swapping it when I renewed.

If anyone could post where they keep their marriage licence, it might help jog my memory and locate mine 😳
