I need a mop!

We have just got a dog. I am generally a bit of a slattern when it comes to mopping, but I need to up my game a bit now there are doggy paws coming in from outside (we're a shoes off house).

I have a regular mop and bucket, but wondering if there is something quicker to whip out and do a quick once over the high traffic areas on the regular? I find it takes ages to dry with a traditional mop, no matter how hard I wring it out.

I saw some kind of fancy Flash mop in the shop today, but didn't want to buy it without appropriate mop-related research.

I should add that a steam mop is not an option, as we have Amtico flooring and the care instructions say no to steam cleaning. I don't want to risk damaging the floor.

Thanks for any recommendations!

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for mop recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best floor mops page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

You want one of those with a square of sponge on the bottom.
refill a squiting cleaning bottle with flash and water quick squirt then you can rinse mop under tap no bucket

Maybe something like this?. The floor dries quickly too.

I have a vilda spin mop for big cleans and a microfiber pad mop with lots of spare pads for quick go overs. I literally spray flash on the floor and whip over it.

Oh and I have 3 kids, 2 indoor/outdoor cats and a house rabbit so the combination works well

Exactly the same here!

Ooh, thank you for these fab suggestions.

I'm loving the look of the Dunelm spray mop. I think that's similar to the flash one I saw, but it has washable pads rather than disposable.

I also NEED that spin mop!!

Ditto spin mop and I also have the vileda spray mop for quick cleans.

LadyEloise1 · 25/02/2022 19:20

Make sure you get a bucket with 2 sections - one for clean water and the other go squeeze the dirty water in to. Otherwise you're just moving the dirt around the floor. Yuck !!!

If you have a big budget, maybe an electric floor cleaner instead of a mop? Over found them very effective. I’ve used a karcher one previously but I prefer my vax.

Spin mop

Spray mop with washable pads has been a completely game changer for me. Buy lots of the pads so you don’t run out between washes.

Mine is from Lakeland.

Another vote for a spray mop! Absolutely brilliant!
