Morning all!

Thought I would start today's thread as up and about early this morning. Can't do links so hopefully someone more experienced will be along soon to help me out on that one!

Have got quite a little list going on today and have even managed to do some of it already ! Will pop back in after breakfast and see how things are going!

hi alll, i have finally decided to join you guys. i definitly suffer from can have any one over syndrome.
so. i shined my sink last night. got properly dressed this morning. and have had lovely cleaner lady over all morning.
challenge is to still have a shiny sink at the end of the day.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/01/2008 14:59

Hellooo. Welcome Lomond and pukkapatch

First step is definitely shining your sink and being proud of it. That makes you realise the rest of the house can be done eventually too.

This can be done with 2 children. For me the structure is what makes it work as most children bring chaos with them...

I'm playing with DD2 now so no more housework until bedtime routine, and I must get off MN

ludaloo · 02/01/2008 15:20

Hello All

I have been to town, bought cream curtains for the patio doors (we had blinds across them previously, but they kept getting knocked down and all tangled up as people came in and out) All up and fitted now and they look FAB!

Downstairs is still looking ok, but have to tackle upstairs.

I have been pre-occupied watching Malcolm in the Middle...I love it...their family is sooooo like ours lol!

sophierosie · 02/01/2008 15:30

I'm new and also have a shiny sink!

Have also managed to:

Unpack dishwasher
Strip beds
Wash bedding
Hang out washing

Still need to:

Sort out and put away piles of clothing from xmas!

Lazylou · 02/01/2008 15:33

Well that took waaaay longer than I hoped! Town was packed and DD has played up the whole way round, making it twice as long a journey as it needed to be! Plus my dad (bless him) wanted to wander around the shops which didn't help!

DD is now in her bedroom, whilst I contemplate removing toys for her behaviour this morning. She is steadily becoming the most rude child I have ever met, so some tough love is in order now I think.

On the positive side, I have re-scheduled my scan appointmen and got the council tax statement needed for DD's school application. Am going to get on with the rest of the list now.

Luda, I am doing a degree in early childhood studies which is hard work, but really interesting although I wish I'd picked a better dissertation subject. I'm not at all interested in the one I have and forcing myself to actually do the reading is as bad as making myself do the housework!

As for the latest addition to our family, we are due on 31st May although I have a funny feeling this one will go into June. I have anew scan date of the 25th of this month, which is also DD's 4th birthday so that will be really nice. We don't know yet what bean is, but I still have a funny feeling it's a girl . We will be finding out at the scan (hopefully!) We do have one name as a definite and that is Daniel, but I am really keen on Caitlin for a girl although it doesn't really go with the surname. DH likes Katie so I am going to persuade him that she should be called Caitlin (getting what I want ) and shortened to Katie (getting a little of what he wants!)

ludaloo · 02/01/2008 16:06

Lazylou What a nice degree to do! It does sound good, I'm very interested in early years. I'd like to go into teaching, and if I did then it would be lower primary/nursery.
I wanted Katie as a name for our youngest, but dh didn't so we didn't call her that in the end, and dh wanted Daniel! or Nathan...but as she was a girl, he got neither! My friend has a little girl called Caitlin, that is very sweet too.
May is a fantastic month to be born in ....(but I suspect June is just as good)

It is as windy as chuff outside! I have spent a good 15 minutes trying to get all the rubbish off our front lawn which has blown in.....nightmare!!!

Better get on and put some washing away

Lomond · 02/01/2008 16:50

Hi everyone, just thought I' drop back in and say hello.

My sink is still shiny, everything is getting washed as soon as it is used
and put away!

Today I have also...

Cleaned bathroom,

Washed, dried an put away 3 loads of washing.

Looked out all of DD2's moses basket and crib sheets and blankets to store away [sob]
*Plus side I now have another drawer for her clothes.

Cleared out 2 kitchen cupboards.

Sorted out the rest of DD's christmas clothes and put them away.

Feeling rather pleased that I have managed all this as in between have been playing with the dd's.

Now, time to think about dinner!

Grouchyoscar · 02/01/2008 17:15

I was so worn out after tending to Dh's parents that when Dh went out with DS1 this afternoon DS2 and I have slept.

So the boys have had eggy bread for tea and they are now going for a bath and I am going to catch up on the things I was supposed to be doing this afternoon.

tortoise · 02/01/2008 19:32

beautifuldays · 02/01/2008 19:34

Lazylou · 02/01/2008 19:37

Evening all, feeling really pleased with how things have gone today and have now written up the jobs list for tomorrow which I am going to incorporate into my steadily improving routine.

Just wanted to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction and making it easier for me to attempt to sort out my domestic disasters!

DH is bringing home a take away (excited) and then I'm going to hit the bath and go to bed. See you all in the morning!

tortoise · 02/01/2008 20:08

Bewilderbeast · 02/01/2008 20:11

Evening all

Another successful day of flying don't know what will happen when I go back to work on monday though.

I can't believe that it is 8pm and we are all fed, downstairs is clean (particularly the kitchen) and ds is bathed. Now I just have to get the little monkey to bed. Hmmm. Wish me luck. And yes my sink is shiny!

Shannaratinger · 02/01/2008 20:27

Evening all
Everyone has been soo busy today, sounds like we are all doing great.
Beautifuldays i don't usualy wear shoes in doors either, except when doing bath adn cooking ( got fed up with wet socks) do have slip on shoes handy though.
So many people on here now can't keep up with everyone.
Today have managed to do most of my hallway list:
Hallways

Dust
Windows done
Tidy sill done
Wipe sill done
Clean frames done
Clean glass done
Hoover
Clean doors done
Light switches done
tumble dryer done
Wipe outside done
Clean inside inc. filter done

Taken down christmas decs done

Having these lists per zone is the only way i can remember to do everything.

Sorry i know its too late to post routines but have only just finished sorting kitchen and am watching 'How to look good naked'.

DD back to playschool tomorrow and toddler group am so glad, DD is getting really bored adn we all need our routines back.
Sorry for the long boring post, have a good evening back tomorrow sometime

AnnaKeyrules · 02/01/2008 20:36

I'm feeling rather daunted by all this, but at least I always get dressed/do hair/do makeup first thing every morning, so I must be doing something right

Have spent the day sorting out all dd's new Christmas and birthday presents, finding places to put everything and sorting out some old toys/clothes/books for the charity shop. Mammoth task!!

Shined sink and cleaned hob after clearing away after dinner.

Would like to relax now, but need to spend an hour making cards so I can have a clear run tackling the ironing mountain tomorrow morning.

TheMadHouse · 02/01/2008 20:51

evening all

we are back from day out/shopping and got what we needed. I have also spent the last hour sorting through the toys the boys got for Christmas.

I need another stoate solution, as they have so many big things ie weebles castle, race track, guarage, ice car thing, bob worksop - HELP!!!!!

Nealy got all the washing sone.

I am not responsible for my mothers happiness - If I say it and type it enough it might sink in and she might stop gettting on my t**s - arggggggggggggggggg

DontDreamItBeIt · 02/01/2008 21:07

You are NOT responsible for your mothers happiness.

Will it help if we all say it?

We spent the afternoon looking for a new bath to fit in a very small space (use to be a wardrobe) Hopefully we will get something tomorrow.
Am I the only one wih children going back to school tomorrow then?

I've got bags out and even remembered to buy stuff for their packed luches today so hopefully tomorrow will go smoothly.

NewFLYbabies - don't get put off by the amount some of the regulars get done. We all started with the shiny sink....before you know it your routines will be part of your normal day

(I often post on here before I get dressed I get dressed while the dc are eaing breakfast usually, and it works for me.)

Twinklemegan · 02/01/2008 21:08

Hello all. I'll probably lurk rather than post on these threads much, but I have continued the shiny sink through today and I also thoroughly cleaned the cooker so it's now good as new after the Christmas Day roast (yes, I know I should have done it before ).

DH and I have blitzed the house today ready for parents to come at the weekend so we're starting with a clean slate. I didn't get dressed to shoes first thing this morning - I figured that can wait til tomorrow when I'm back at work. But good foundations are being laid I think.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 02/01/2008 22:07

Yay to all the shiny sinks. DH is loading our d/w as I type and then my sink will be empty

Everyone is doing great. Just remember that your house didnt become a mess in 1 day and so it will take more than 1 day to make it nice again.

Night all..
