on the "I'm only 42' thread they keep referring to this as something weird that mothers used to do

but otherwise your feet aren't tucked in at the bottom

and it feels wrong

My mum still does it. I can't bear having my feet tucked in. Are you in the 'sheet & duvet' age bracket?

frothykindofadrink · 15/12/2007 08:12

is that an actual age bracket?

I'm 38

anyway I like an extra layer between me and duvet seems cleaner for the actual duvet iyswim

I don't use a sheet with a duvet, but you might be reassured to hear that the only place I'd ever heard of doing it was in the White Company catalogue - and so I'd thought it was quite a cool thing to do, and a jolly good idea .

yurt1 · 15/12/2007 08:17

yes weirdo definitely- my grandmother used to do it () I'm 37 on christmas day.....

frothykindofadrink · 15/12/2007 08:18

oh but White Company do it

so you are all so yesterday

Here you go - White Company advice.

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 15/12/2007 08:21

White company just want you to buy top sheets as well as duvet covers!!!

foofi · 15/12/2007 08:47

Sorry Frothy, I do think that is weird.

BroccoliSpears · 15/12/2007 08:57

Definitely a weirdo, yes.

prufrock · 15/12/2007 08:59

I don't in winter, because I have a velvet bedspread over my duvet (against WC advice -don't tell Chrissy!) which tucks into the bottom of my bed. But I do in summer, both for tucked in at botom factor, and so I can push back the duvet and still be covered (I'm not prudish -just hate sleeping uncovered)

mistletoepeaks · 15/12/2007 09:14

they do it in hotels and it does look really smart. so i don't think you're weirdo. I just can't be ar$ed else I'd do it too!! (and I am 31!!)

TheBlonde · 15/12/2007 09:20

I hate my feet being tucked in

The only people I know who do it, do it so you only wash the top sheet and under sheet. The duvet cover only gets washed occasionally

frothykindofadrink · 15/12/2007 09:52

I am right

you are all slatterns and time-saving chavs

I have White Company and hotels on my side

My mum does this she is 60!

I hate my feet being tucked anywhere, like space & feedom

muppetgirl · 15/12/2007 09:58

We do, helps with the night sweats from post birth and milk dribbles from b/f. It protects the duvet and means I only have to change a sheet not the whole bed.

Love the luxurious ness of it

muppetgirl · 15/12/2007 10:00

I'm 32 btw

Also in Summer I get too hot and just have the sheet and dh still has the duvet...

TrinityTheRedNosedRhino · 15/12/2007 10:04

Oh god, Iwould hate to not be able to get my feet out if I wanted to
Having said that I usually wrap the bottom of the duvet around my feet type thing
BUT it has to be my choice

No way could I cope being trapped in by a sheet

TheBlonde · 15/12/2007 11:30

muppetgirl - we have a duvet liner to protect the duvet and make the white linen appear whiter

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 13:05

I like the idea of it, but I sleep with the duvet between my legs and it wouldn't work!

DanJARMouse · 15/12/2007 13:08

Im 25. I use a sheet with the duvet in summer as I can never regulate my temp properly. Ill be hot one minute (but still need something over me) so use the sheet and cold the next so pull up the duvet.

In winter though its just the duvet.

gokfan · 15/12/2007 22:00

Im 26! And I do it! My excuse is "my mum does it",and repeating other mners I feel a bed is finished and made proper with a fitted sheet on matress, then flat sheet and duvet. I remember my first sleepover when I was about 9,I asked where the sheet was? My mums brainwashed me!

SpacecadetLovesChristmas · 15/12/2007 22:01

my mum does it too

I'm 34 and I do it!! Sounds like we're at 'Sheet with a Duvet-aholics annonymous'

My mum never did, but I love it! I like having my feet tucked in, it keeps me warmer than just a duvet but cooler if needed, and more snuggley round my face too!

Not at all weird

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 22:10

I do the same as DJARM. Except i am 29!
