Why why why does this bloody dryer need to sing at me? Help!

New Samsung dryer has arrived, it makes all kinds of bings and beeps. It sings a stupidly long tune at the end of the cycle because god forbid you forget your washing.

I think I've turned off the end of cycle rubbish but I can't seem to find anything that just mutes the whole thing.

Does anyone have a singing Samsung?!

Oh. This has just reminded me of a friend whose tumble drier used to sing the Korean national anthem at her when it was done.

Can’t help but that story always tickled me.

There’s usually a button somewhere that will mute it!

Tummelthecat · 27/10/2021 13:15

I have nothing to offer in terms of stopping your tumble dryer singing, but my car sings when you switch on and off the ignition. I share your pain.

Rosa · 27/10/2021 13:16

Yes , And I have no idea how to turn it off.... Actually when I forget it beeping / singing reminds me !!

WildFlowerBees · 27/10/2021 13:17

I can't even send it back now as we've used it. Day 1 and I already hate it. Why must everything make noise these days?

I’ve got a Samsung 😊😊 and I hated that at first! However I’ve completely changed my mind...it’s actually very useful in this big old house (not actually big but vast compared to the flat we used to live in) to be able to clearly hear it and know when the load is done.

I know that doesn’t actually help you...

AnneShirleysNewDress · 27/10/2021 13:18

On mine there 2 buttons you hold down together to stop the music, similar to the child lock.

This has tickled me. How did she know what the korean national anthem sounds like though?

Google [or DDG!] 'how to mute a Samsung drier' and you'll find various sets of videos and other destructions.
It might just save your sanity.

GrealishHairband · 27/10/2021 13:26

@Bigassbeebuzzbuzz I have no idea but that story always made me laugh.

insancerre · 27/10/2021 13:27

I had to do this to my hoover dishwasher but have no idea how I did it
My old dishwasher used to sigh heavily half way through the cycle
I knew exactly how it felt

ppp4321 · 27/10/2021 13:33

I have its twin in the Samsung washing machine. The music is slightly irritating but mine only lasts for 30 seconds or so.

Have to say, I love the washing machine as it has so many different options for cycle lengths and texts me when it's finished. Possibly overkill with the symphony as well but I can then nudge my husband to put it out when I'm not at home.

trevthecat · 27/10/2021 13:35

I have this dryer. You can mute it.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 27/10/2021 13:38

My Samsung ecobubble sings Schubert "the trout". Well, it's a dodgy, electronic, simplified version but you get the idea.

We hate it and love it at the same time - annoying when you're in the same room but v handy when I'm working in the office and need to hear when the machine is done!

Franklin12 · 27/10/2021 13:42

I really like it. Especially when I am ready to do a number of loads and need to know upstairs where I am working that the first load is done!

squashyhat · 27/10/2021 13:45

I have just bought a singing....printer. It gives a chirpy little chime when it's switched on, and a very self-satisfied one when it actually prints something. Plus at random intervals it lights up like a Dreamliner cabin. Hmm

Aquamarine1029 · 27/10/2021 13:46

I love my Samsung washer and dryer. I put up with the singing because the dryer seems so pleased with itself. Smile

How?? I've turned off the darn twittering for end of cycle but is there a way to mute the entire thing? Even turning it off it makes noise. Stop it!

My rice maker sings one song when it starts up and another when the rice is done. It’s somewhere between cute and annoying.

evilharpy · 27/10/2021 14:01

Google "how to mute samsung dryer" and the model number. There is a way to turn it off but I think it varies by model. We have a samsung washer that was similarly delighted with itself every time it finished a cycle Grin

I've done this and managed to turn off the ridiculous end of cycle song but I want to mute the whole thing.

I've discovered it also bings at you when the door is open because of course I'm unaware when I open the door that I've done it.

W shave one as well! I’ve gotten used to it, but I refused to buy a singing kettle - I hate being beeped by everything these days, toaster, freezer if left open, bloody phone, drier, microwave nobody needs this shit - I wonder why the lawnmower doesn’t do this? Or the drill? ….. mmmmm

HappyPumpkin81 · 27/10/2021 14:07

I want a Samsung washer and dryer specifically because it sings. We had one in a holiday cottage, it washed great and I loved the cheery tune 😊

P0gM0Th0in · 27/10/2021 14:07

🎶
Let’s hang up the washing,
Now that the washing is fin-ished.
Let’s hang up the washing!
Now that the washing is done! 🎶

Heartsandroses · 27/10/2021 14:23

My dryer (second hand from marketplace) sings congratulations by cliff richards

I hate cliff…

My mum used to moan that her old washing machine beeped at the end of the cycle until you turned if off, now she moans that the new one does not beep at the end of the cycle so how is she supposed to know it is done to empty it. I am not sure the manufacturers can win on this one.
