Robotic hoover advice

Forgothowtospell · 02/10/2021 16:50

I'm looking at getting a robotic hoover after reading a thread here. Lots of people recommended one make but didn't say which particular one. My house is quite busy with 2DC and a very hair GSD who casts all year long. I'm really unsure which make and model to go with. Is there anyone with a similar household situation that could recommend one please. Thanks

I have the Eufy 30c and happy with it. Seems sturdy enough to withstand DC. I dont know what a GSD is but expect it’s a dog?

Yummymummy2020 · 02/10/2021 21:34

I have the dyson one and I really like it. The suction is very good. We have wooden floors so I’m not sure how good it would be on carpet.

Indoctro · 02/10/2021 21:36

After hours of research I bought this

https://www.myrobotcenter.co.uk/en_gb/neato-botvac-connected-d7

It came up trumps Smile

Reviews are correct it's very good.

I have a roomba, who is called Dave. He goes back and recharges himself and then sets off again till he’s done bless him. I have two dogs and he does well-though I use him daily.

Forgothowtospell · 02/10/2021 23:06

I'm stressing out looking so going to give it a rest for the night. Thanks all for your advice and suggestions. The roomba sounds amazing but very expensive, over 1k for the one the website recommended for me. It was Eufy that kept getting mentioned on the thread I was reading a while back but there are just too many to choose from.

We have a Eufy 30C called Roman. He's great. Would definitely recommend.

DespairingHomeowner · 03/10/2021 06:33

I chose the Eufy because it’s a good value - I paid around £150 for mine. There are offers on the Eufy website, it’s also worth checking on Amazon prime day for deals

DespairingHomeowner · 03/10/2021 06:34
  • I mean Amazon etc for Black Friday sales
Langfield · 03/10/2021 07:02

I have a Eufy and a Roomba. The Eufy wins hands down. Also he's shorter so doesn't get stuck under furniture. Roomba has better suction but is a drama queen and gets stuck

WisestIsShe · 03/10/2021 07:11

I have a eufy 30c. I'm a cm so you can imagine how busy it is here, I also have a lab mix dog. To start with I loved Rupert, he definitely saves me time. However over time I realised he doesn't do as good a job in carpet as my old Dyson, particularly on fine dog hair so it is necessary to get the Dyson out once or twice a week for a more thorough clean.
I do still love him really, he's excellent on hard floors.

I have a Eufy G30, it's great.
The 30C is random whereas the G30 is more systematic.

This

I was you a month ago. Too many Eufy options I was confused. I went for the G30 for the same reason as this poster. It's cleans up and down systematically vs randomly. I chose this eventually after reading a review from someone who upgraded from the 30c (think it's random) to the g30 and said how much more efficient that model is.

It's brilliant. I've never had such clean floors. It's not perfect but it's better than my random hoovering that never got under things etc.

Grellbunt · 03/10/2021 07:46

Our Roombas were older models costing less than £200 each brand new at the time (couple of years ago) and they're both great. Not sure why they suddenly cost a thousand! The cheaper models just don't have fancy internet apps etc but that means there is less to go wrong. With kids we need to check for toys/lego etc every time anyway so no point in setting automatic programs etc.

SylvanasWindrunner · 03/10/2021 11:43

We have a Eufy 15C (Gus). He's brilliant. He's random but he still gets everywhere and for someone who hoovered every day, I was horrified to see how much stuff he picked up and is still picking up BlushEvery couple of days or so I stick him upstairs, and he does downstairs every day at 6.30pm while we are doing DD's bedtime, so I come back down to him hard at work!

PeppermintMocha · 03/10/2021 11:45

I have the Neato as well. I have the D6 as I only have one floor and the fancier ones could store more than one floor plan I think, which I didn't need.

It was the pet version, but I think that just means it came with more spare brushes! I have long hair, shed loads, but not actual pets, and it works well. I like the D shape, and the side brush; and also it's very easy to take the brush out and clean the hair off the main brush, which I have to do very very regularly with so much hair.

They are often half price in the amazon prime day etc

insancerre · 03/10/2021 11:48

Do any of you have black carpets or Lino?
I’ve read that they don’t work on dark flooring
All my flooring is dark

Forgothowtospell · 03/10/2021 11:50

Has anyone got the proscentic 850t? Looking at that one just now on amazon and it looks great and very reasonably priced. The G30 edge seems to be the best one on a budget on review sites and is top of my list for now but a few reviews have mentioned it's not the best on carpet which I mainly have.

Forgothowtospell · 03/10/2021 11:52

@insancerre which neato do you have?

G30 edge here does hard floors including black kitchen floor and a rug very well. Plus I take him upstairs for a run about at weekends. Where it's carpet and he does a great job.

I twisted in knots trying to choose! I was very relieved when I submitted my order.

Have you looked at you tube reviews ? You can see them working.

PeppermintMocha · 03/10/2021 12:06

I have one area of dark floors, and the Neato is fine on that.

The difference in the Neatos is often things like: whether they have a side brush, which filter they have, which main brush they have, whether they do spot cleaning, whether they have virtual no-go lines, etc. Only some of these are 'permanent' differences - such as the presence of the side brush. Both the main brush and the filter can be replaced with the other type if you want them anyway, and many of the features that are app controlled, such as the no-go lines or the spot cleaning or the multiple floor plans, eventually come to the lesser models anyway.

I like the fact that the Neato does use the floor plan rather than going randomly; it can't always find it, but that's because I keep mine under the sofa, which you aren't really supposed to do, and it's in a very crowded place, so it sometimes can't match up where it is. If it were kept in a more open area, it would always find it.

PyjamaMamma · 03/10/2021 12:23

I have 2 roombas 600 series (slightly different models) bought 2 years apart. They’re not the fancy ones but they do the job quite nicely. Both bought on Black Friday deals - one from Amazon, one from Aldi last year.

Forgothowtospell · 03/10/2021 14:32

I'm feeling very stressed out 😂 I have two pages full of different models' pros and cons that's iv made. I have watched alot of different YouTube videos and they all make them sound great. I was going between the G30 edge and the 30c max when I watched a video about The Ecovacs deebot and that through me though a loop. I think I just need to order one and be done with it.

OP posts:
Forgothowtospell · 03/10/2021 14:56

I did it!!! I bought a deebot. I watched lots of 'vacuum wars' on YouTube their review videos are great. It's coming Wednesday and I can not wait!

OP posts:
Grellbunt · 04/10/2021 22:25

Never heard of Deebot

Forgothowtospell · 11/10/2021 13:05

Just a little update. I got the ecovacs deebot n79s and It is absolutely fantastic. I always think its going to be nearly empty because I had ran it not long ago but its always full 😳. It does such a great job on my carpets and vinyl flooring. I love waking up in the morning seeing her lines all over the living room carpet with not a dog or cat hair in sight. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
