Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

willow yes! 6 LOLs
We had just got back from our weekend away no LOLs got done Monday so I had to catch up:
🕸 towels
🕸 DS bedding
🕸 black load
🕸 blue load
🕸 grey load
🕸 dogs bedding & blankets
I usually wash a load as I'm drying a load so I was able to get a lot done.

scream meeting up with a friend in the park sounds so much fun.
yup sorry if I missed it, where is your DP, since you said you miss him?

Sorry I don't have any more personals, I can't go back.
Full day of work today (10 hrs as usual) so only cleaned up the kitchen and washed the handwash dishes. DS rotated the DW and did 1 LOL today.
We are currently watching Hocus Pocus, so no flying will be done now, other than getting my clothes out for tomorrow.
🍒👋 to everyone

Hazel welcome back from your trip and well done on the laundry.

Yup brilliant idea to have Phoebe in the naughty corner, if famous doesn't mind. It's been 12 years since I held a newborn!

12 years! Will a 3 month old do for now? < pops rather large sleeping baby in naughty corner >

I have had a bad night. There was sick. There was poo. There was crying.

Mc3209 · 01/10/2021 08:22

Those chucking coffee your way. It can only get better.

ScreamToTheSky · 01/10/2021 08:34

Morning everyone!

po3.1
❗️Dressed meds breakfast
❗️Find out if parkour is on and book if so
❗️Get DS started on some work including printing his chemistry homework

Redsquirrel5 · 01/10/2021 09:18

Just a quick good morning.

We are able to go out today. Test negative.
We are off shopping. DH reckons we have enough petrol to go to the town we like and everything is near to each other. Not sure if we are going to the charity shop. I now have enough for a full laundry basket.

Spent some of yesterday sorting and chucking again and sorting books from the hall. Brought them into boudoir which was daft as now it looks messy. Need to shift it today.

Quick cuddles of new borns. I had a chance when I saw my new great nephew but didn’t ask because I didn’t want my niece to feel uncomfortable.

Dancingtomusic · 01/10/2021 09:38

Aww babies in the naughty corner- i love it! its the one thing I am good at - holding babies. I am like the elephant that mothers all elephant babies and elephant children in the herd. I must hv been a elephant in a previous life. I do look like one too. Must do more cycling 🐘

MrsTidyHouse · 01/10/2021 09:51

I came across this on YouTube the other evening. Search "Albino Baby Elephant Khanyisa's incredibly emotional greeting by the Jabulani Herd".

AbandonAllHalfHope · 01/10/2021 10:08

Maybe the elephant is your spirit animal Dancing

Gorgeous youtube video MrsTidy - you wouldn't mess with those Mamas!

ScreamToTheSky · 01/10/2021 10:13

Work is underway although Cagletini (who is home from nursery and loves a worksheet) has been far more productive than DS 🤣 DH is booking a tesco delivery - alarming how less and less is available each time.

po3.2
❗️Book taxi for later
❗️Consent form for DD1’s flu jab
❗️Income/expenses report on UC site

TheHoneyBadger · 01/10/2021 10:17

Morning just dropping into say I'm in the dinghy trailing behind the thread.

I'm just work and sleep this week. Feeling glad it's Friday - need to stay late and get stuff done but looking forward to getting home at the end of it. House is a tip.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/10/2021 10:21

I have lost 4 and a half hours to a research worm hole...

I should probably get up. Hmm

OP posts:
ScreamToTheSky · 01/10/2021 11:07

Useful research hopefully hills?
I did briefly look at the Makselife thing mentioned on the previous thread but it confused me so I ran away from it.

DH is STILL doing the Tesco order. Between a very slow website and lack of stock I’m amazed he’s not thrown the tablet out of the window 🤣

po3.3
❗️Computer based work with DS
❗️Sort homework for 2 online maths pupils
❗️Go through phone notes to do list(s) to delete stuff I’ve done

ScreamToTheSky · 01/10/2021 11:08

Hope you’re ok honey

TheHoneyBadger · 01/10/2021 11:09

Hills sounds very familiar - I get interested in something and start looking and whooosh - hours have passed. It does mean I surprise people with my levels of knowledge on seemingly random things sometimes and we can hope it is good protection against alzheimers but not great for time management.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/10/2021 11:27

This morning it was on establishing a morning/routine that works. I have been trying to figure out what works and doesn't work for me. It ended up disappearing down the path of sensory diets, spd (sensory processing disorder), and proprioception.

Hugely fascinating.

Scream - the maske life is a simple concept. score various statments with a rating 1-10 for 8 areas of life. Average the scores to get your score for that area. use this to help you identify things that will help you to feel better about the area. Use that to set babystep goals to move you slowly in that direction.

It has really helped me breakdown and focus in on things. Some areas i scored high, some areas really low and i will target them with the small easy actions.

Aah thanks hills so that is the site I ended up on I think - I wasn’t sure as it didn’t have the name. Is there a particular site you used to assess please?

I’ve booked a therapy session for November and as well as being excited to catch her up on all the changes (I think my last session was around April?!) I can really focus on the more positive stuff around moving forward etc.

Question for Fledglings - does anyone use two different diaries? One for general family stuff (which would still include your work hours etc) and then one just for your own work/study etc? I’m thinking maybe I should, as I’ll have work deadlines, lots of stuff for tutoring (eg dates to send homework and invoices etc) and from February hopefully uni deadlines too. And there isn’t really room on the family for ALL of that.

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 01/10/2021 11:40

I've list three and a half hours on a journey that should take two and a quarter, and there's at least another hour before home. All's well, though, asI now know exactly where I am and where to go next. No-one is expecting me this afternoon so I can treat the last part of the journey as a drive out for pleasure. I've just got a latte and I'm feeling optimistic.

I could ta da for being up, washed, dressed, bedding in washer, fully packed and all my my stuff in the car, with all the rooms I'd used cleaned and checked by 7.15, I think.

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 01/10/2021 11:41

Lost not list!

I have a paper diary where I write notes on a day to day basis but also a work electronic diary and a personal electronic diary which are linked. Sometimes I switch on the work diary so that it appears in the personal diary so that I have a better overview of the week.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/10/2021 15:35

Yes. But i have a 3 book system. General, work and to do list. I do this so that i can help block off/protect personal time. iyswim.

FLying through but will come back and have a chat later. Was going to head to the beach but bought a plant and it didnt need a road trip Grin
