Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

red your garden produce sounds wonderful! We had brambles from the garden this year, and my goal for next year is to tidy the garden up over the winter months and have raised bed and planters for fruit and veg next year.

Dancing what a dreadful shock. Hope you and DC manage to sleep.

hazel there have been so many hoarding programmes over the years that I simply don't remember. Iirc, houses were cluttered rather than dirty.

It's strange that I see things with totally different eyes when I move them out of their usual place. I shifted a bucket that had gardening gloves and rubble sacks on top, and found it was 3/4 full of interesting twigs and small branches that I had been going to spray paint. Tomorrow the twigs are going back into the garden in a sheltered spot until I decide what to do with them.

Cleared off two kitchen windowsills. Unearthed a bag with five. pairs of rusty scissors. No idea why they were there. I think at some point I was gathering all old blades and sharp objects for safe disposal. That was at least three years ago. Now safely in the lockable understairs cupboard.

Wiped down the window sills, put old wooden box on one sill with tape measures, twine, rope, secateurs, gloves, rubble bags. The other sill has a small tub with spare gloves and weedkiller. I should be able to keep that area tidy and do small tasks without leaving a trail behind me.

Dancing oh what a horrible fright. Not surprised you are feeling awful. I can see some of the ridiculous parking behaviour of the Village School parents. They park outside our house, alongside the church and most opposite the Village Green on the t junction and a curve. The school is opposite and around the corner from us. We can just see the edge of the playground the rest is hidden by the church. A good idea to take them early for a few days. As it is going to get darker soon perhaps a good idea to buy some reflective strips/bands for their coats. What did the driver say? Two children and reversed more than once. I would be questioning breathlizer ( sp)to be honest. I hope the school puts another letter out. It will have shaken you all for a couple of days. I would get them to draw pictures if they are upset. Getting it on paper is often therapeutic. A chat about being aware that even grown ups don’t always obey rules and about being aware when we are crossing the road is a good lesson to learn.

Ah thanks. I like programs that look at the social views. I was quite interested in that module at college. We looked at alcohol, drugs and ethnic minorities. Despite the University it is a very ‘white’ area in the city. More Europeans now as many stayed after Brexit. Interested in others views if they watch it. I didn’t see more than a couple of programmes when it first came out. It is on 31 on ours at 5pm. Now I have time to watch stuff like that.

Willow
You are doing an awful lot. Not surprised you are bursting into tears. It is a shock when an event like that happens and your body reacts differently to what you expect. Just take a day at a time, not even a whole day.1. Morning until coffee time. 2. Coffee until lunch.3. Lunch until afternoon etc. You are still getting treatment. Can you get someone to mention this to DH ? GP?

Agree about Tomato soup. There is just something comforting about it and what I heard once and thought it was very English and reminded me of when I was a child and went to a rather good school in Windsor. I think it was on the radio or perhaps Railway Children or Agatha Christie. “Tomato Soup with snippets of toast.” I liked it, like the word “beastly” and other very English expressions. From then on my BF and I always asked if they wanted Tomato soup with snippets of toast. BF and I like dropping long or unusual words into conversations with our kids and now her grand kids. I taught her grandson about Cumulonimbus clouds and Mackeral skies at three. He is a very bright boy and might have mentioned it at school when he was just turned four🤣we heard back because his other granny teaches Reception😁 we have conversations with the two year old about dinosaurs he knows most of the proper names. They also recognise lots of birds.

Haha about the peak flow does it even go up to that. I am 400 on a good day.
Will be popping over about tea time tomorrow 😁👍

DH has rubbed a bit of analgesic cream on my back. I can’t use Deep Heat as I’m allergic to it. DH agrees back is swollen so will be a while before it is right. Too swollen to go to Osteopath yet.

Redsquirrel5 · 13/10/2021 23:55

Cross post.
Sounds good MrsTidy
Yeah more than I had realised when I wrote the list. Many bought at marked down price plants but beans and peas seed planted and seed Tattie of course. Just have a go.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/10/2021 04:24

I have been awake since2 FFS
Dancing I remember a similar incident when mine were small.parking by primary was ridiculous.van try reverse small space at last minute and near hit dd2.i LMS and hit side his car with string invectives not suitable for primary ears....another mum then kick off as was crossing with me.he never try park there again during school hours...remind yourself all is well.no one was hurt and it's not your fault.sending big hugs.xx
Red hope backs improved in the morning.crumble sounds lush
Willow TAKE IT EASYhope test goes ok today🍀🍀
Sing/scream another productive step on decorating front
Hills hope you sleep after all that studying

7hours mucking out room of doom
Rubbish and recycling a plenty far to much laundry
We do now have surfaces and a floor having moved everything but wardrobes and tidy /organise everything but wardrobes
Girls came in and lil zoo complained filthy top wearing yesterday was now no where to be seen and dd2 said it wasn't that bad my side to start with..exhausted and in lot pain stiff joints wanted bang bloody heads together!!

Redsquirrel5 · 14/10/2021 07:08

I bet you didZoo how ungrateful.
Sorry you had insomnia again. I took two Co codamol plus normal meds and slept despite back. Just been up to loo and feels much better thanks. Trouble is getting older.

Crumble left for tonight. I had measured out by cup flour, demara sugar and oats. Added DF marg and mashed in with fork on Tuesday. One large Bramley and some of the frozen berries. It was good and didn’t have any last night so some for tonight. We have two many blackcurrants as two drawers of freezer. One has packet of mixed berries too which have been in for ages and need using. Trying to clear freezer before Christmas. I’ll leave some blackcurrants for January great for winter colds. Something about them then.
Sorry waffling.

Hope those with babies got some sleep.

ScreamToTheSky · 14/10/2021 08:26

OMG dancing so sorry, that must have been terrible 😭

MrsT I know what you mean about seeing things differently when they’ve been moved. Things just become part of the furniture very easily here!

Hope you’re ok red 💐

Bit miffed as I woke up early today, too tired and cold to actually do anything useful. Think I’m nervous about the (external) meeting this morning, even though I’m just observing this time. Even had anxiety dreams about it 😳

Got loads done in the living room last night though, and it is nice to work together on a big project. We’ve not really done that sort of thing before.

po3.1
❗️Remove masking tape from painted areas
❗️Get dressed (smartly, at least my top half! Think I need to get some smarter tops TBH) and sort hair etc
❗️Switch PC on and open office etc

Dancingtomusic · 14/10/2021 08:46

Strong coffees for everyone Brew

Red- glad you got some sleep and your back is feeling better. Thanks for suggesting things to do with the kids to help them process things.

Zoo- 7 hours is a long time, you are dedicated. Bet the room looks great. Teenagers- sigh.
Thanks for sharing your experience- its does make me feel better.

Scream- your job sounds amazing and you are doing great so proud of you!

Wellies- goodluck on your tests and dont do too much!
Mrstidy- great reorganising of stuff. Every little bit done- helps.
Hills- hope you got rest after so much information.

Thank you everyone that has been so kind with your comments.

I dropped the kids off to breakfast club at 8am. It was a tiny rush but I was desparate to avoid mad ppl. There was no other parents there so it was gr8.
I got home and miss my kids so much. I want to hug them and tell them it will all be ok.

Dh has just got annoyed as I said he should not drop off the kids for a while to avoid the mad ppl (even tho another group are backing him and saying he did the right thing- as kids lives were in danger.)
I dont know what to do? Let him pick up kids as normal? Or stay away?

StillUpSpooking · 14/10/2021 09:10

What a shock you’ve had Dancing. Hope you’re feeling a bit calmer today Flowers

Flowers for you too Willow, you’ve been doing too much but it’s hard not to when you can see things need done. Tomato soup is the ultimate in poorly comfort food isn’t it. I’m amazed at someone reaching the dizzy heights of 700 on a peak flow. Like Red I’m chuffed with 400, but I’ve always had crap lungs.

I didn’t achieve as much as I would have like yesterday, however I made all of my appointments on time. We have clean clothes and clean dishes and the house isn’t too disastrous if someone was to turn up unannounced. I cleaned the bathroom including the pink gunk off the tiles, and did some admin that I’ve procrastinated over.

Work day today, all office based so should be less tiring!

Have a good day everyone 👋

YupIFreakilyHave · 14/10/2021 10:18

Dancing what a terrible shock you've had. Look after yourself as you're still in shock and feeling wobbly ThanksThanksThanks

My PCR was negative but I knew that it would be as my symptoms were a precursor to a full blown migraine with aura. I'm mostly functional now. Anyway, lots to catch up on. Be back later with today's ta-das as there are too many to-dos to list and I probably won't get them all done.

Dancingtomusic · 14/10/2021 12:10

Yup- thank you. I have had teas to keep me going. Phew glad you got a negative PCR test. Sorry to hear it was a migraine - they are horrible. Glad to hear you are functional now!

Up- I dont know how you do it all! 😊 great that your house is visitor ready. Hope you have a lovely calm day at work lovely!

Tadas
Returned kids jacket that was 3 sizes too big.
Picked up snacks on way.
Research tables for kids
Shower and get ready to meet a new neighbour.

Big waves to everyone i have missed.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 14/10/2021 13:05

Thanks for that idea for approaching the day, Red, I'm trying it this morning and its working quite well!

Up, Red my peak flow is also only 400 on a good day, but DS2 is 5' 11" and formerly played the saxophone, so I suppose reasonable lung capacity and development is to be expected! Don't you overdo it either, Up, there's a reason people get slower in pregnancy as the baby gets bigger.

Scream hope the meeting observation has gone well. Remember you can still wear a smart top and bunny slippers!

Zoo they're a bunch of feckless ingrates, or teenage girls as we otherwise call them. Sending 💐

MrsT I too find things on windowsills become part of the furniture.

I've carefully not done too much this morning:
💖 Ordered another Christmas present
🧡 opened some post
💛 put the dark wash on the line / in the tumbler

That's it.

Now I am resting and fasting prior to appointment.

Yup glad your test was -ve, but sorry about the migraine and aura. They're a bugger.

Dancing glad the DC got safely to school. Hope the new neighbour is nice!

Redsquirrel5 · 14/10/2021 17:54

Anyone else think it is strange that quite a few of us have had auras and / or migraines. I had one 7 minutes after the AV vaccine and GP noted it. Just wondering.
Still haven’t been called for my flu jab. GP always does it first week of September I left it to October once and he told me off, very nicely.

Dancing you are probably more anxious than the kids. I would do it tomorrow and then perhaps get back to normal routine as long as he is safety conscious and doesn’t leave them trailing metres behind.

Willow glad it has helped. Yeah 5’11” is 8” taller than me and any blown instrument improves it. DD was shocked when she couldn’t get a noise out of her flute 19 when she could play at 5! It definitely helps.

Up you will be getting tired get your feet up if you can. The BP needs looking after now and putting your legs up helps.

I have done zilch. Been in bed all day. Sorry. Swelling seems to be going down. Going to get up shortly. DH is doing pasta for tea. Veggie and we have ravioli.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/10/2021 18:31

I was messing with D's peak flow.i can get 160 on a good day.is that bad then??

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/10/2021 18:54

Yes. On my worst when they tried to admit me it was around 250. But you have to huff and fast strong breathe rather than breathe normally. Which is not fun.

I went awol today and have not done the things i was supposed to. But it was a nice afternoon of wandering. And i bought a couple of new books Blush

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/10/2021 18:58

Meant to say there are loads of things that can affect peak flow, like the position you are in when you do it etc. so if you have concerns then it is professional medical advice you require

OP posts:
Dancingtomusic · 14/10/2021 21:01

I am going to find the peak flow and try it. My lungs are shocking now.

Red- i never had migraines- its only started after the covid jab.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 14/10/2021 21:55

Survived CT scan, although had a very good go at fainting when they rinsed the cannula with saline. This really has to stop!

Have also finally achieved haircut. I hate it, as is traditional. I will probably like it better to tomorrow.

Having a reasonably early night. Getting to grips with health and welfare tomorrow.

AbandonAllHalfHope · 15/10/2021 06:01

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/10/2021 11:08

Last couple of times i have had an MRI or CT, i have hit the floor. No flushing of canular involved. Stood up, down i went. Grin do not feel bad about it, it happens. There are now notes and monitoring requirements on my file. Bp issue. Nearly hit the deck this morning too. Hmm which always makes for a fun start to the day. I knew there was a reason why i piss about on the interwebs for half hour first thing normally HmmGrin

Long day here with road trip later. Contact weekend for ds - rarer and rarer these day tbh.

I have had migraines since i was about ten. Envy Ds has been unfortunate to inherit that too. Sad
