Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

scream that Tweet tickled me the right way!
Those I'm sorry about positive LFT. I hope the big little is feeling ok.

Ta das:
🌟I cleaned the oven! Nothing like a bit of corrosive chemicals and a Brillo pad thingy to make things sparkling.
🌟Washed hoover filter
🌟Finally sorted out McBaby's clothes into 'to keep' and 'to donate' piles. Just need to vacuum pack, and that will be done later today.
🌟Usual routines, cooking, DW etc.

YupIFreakilyHave · 07/10/2021 17:42

those sorry about the + lft. And you did not fail. It's just a bit of fun and you cleared some of the clutter in the meantime.

I do like that pic sing Grin

EerilyDisembodied · 07/10/2021 22:44

Evening all,

Sorry about + LFT Those, hope it doesn't spread.

Hills - I like your plant plans. I don't have many due to lack of space but I grew up in a house full of plants so I am fond of them.

Dancing - clubs and dinner are a pain, we've never really solved it. The sort where you can eat first (ie non-sporty) aren't so bad but those when you need to eat afterwards are particularly tricky, they get later and later as the DCs get older too, mine are routinely out till 9.30 now. We very rarely eat together during the week. Batch cooking so you can heat up individual portions, quick meals such as pasta, in fact DD would live on pasta given half a chance, she normally cooks it herself after swimming now. Or things that can be kept warm such as stews.

Honey - I hadn't heard that about council tax, ours does seem to go up quite a bit every year, along with all the others.

Mc - well done on the oven.

Red - love hearing all your tales of the children you worked with, people like you make such a difference. I have been singing the praises of one of DD's teachers elsewhere today. I am LOVING the EH now the weather is cooler. I had the nicest jacket potato done in it today for my lunch, plus fried eggs on bacoglide this morning for breakfast, it is so easy, not going to be good for my waistline.

Glad your tech held up Scream and the lesson went well.

Yup - I'm sorry to hear about your DMIL passing away Flowers.

Tada!
Took DD to school via supermarket for packed lunch.

Stopped at supermarket again on way back to do weekly shop as I forgot to book click and collect
Put jacket potato in the oven
Put away the shopping
Went to aquafit class
Tidied out the fridge and two kitchen cupboards (we just chucked all the tins and jars in two cupboards after the units were fitted and its all been higgledy-piggledy)
1xLOL on the line, not quite dry tonight so left it out for tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be better
Watched a bit of TV
2 hours WFH plus a bit of admin
Went up to the loft to put a suitcase away, got distracted by a box of old photos and spent a happy half hour sifting through them, I must have thousands of them up there (used to work somewhere that I could get film and developing done at staff discount in the pre-digital era)
Found one that I want to frame (DGM and DAunty)
Picked DD up from school
DD and DH out again
Toast and salad for dinner
Chatted on whatsapp
Committee meeting on zoom - got cat-bombed repeatedly
Chat with DD about 6th form options
Bed

Tomorrow I have my flu jab and got to take the cats to the

ScreamToTheSky · 07/10/2021 22:58

Evening all. Glad I got a few bits done earlier as I’ve flagged since. Cagletini woke up around 10pm with sore throat so she’s in with me and probably won’t go to nursery today, not sure if it’s from the flu spray as they did say up to 48 hours.

All very flat and tired and BLAH in the house!

EerilyDisembodied · 07/10/2021 23:08

Anyone else still having troubles with petrol? None in our town for the last two days again, I was really hoping it would all settle down by now. I will need some by early next week.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/10/2021 00:13

Petrol wise It has settled down most place but London and South East (and a bit south west) were still struggling last i heard. It has definitely improved around here.

Council tax thing was a headline thing that i came across. Didn't say was but said could.

Today has been frustrating. Tomorrow looks like it could be equally frustrating. But yay... Sleep might be a thing?

yupFlowers
Ed good luck at the v.e.t

I awake
I have done 10 minutes guided meditation after scrolled for a bit
Need feed cats and crack on
Dd2 has bloods at hospital later this morning,so I feel prudent get her to lft this morning, esp her classes shocking number people are off(lil zoo reports her maths class are half put now).I see on BBC news site Peterborough are reintroduce masks in school and SD given acute rise,so guess we have just wait and see if this spreads to other counties

StillUpSpooking · 08/10/2021 06:56

So sorry to hear about your DP’s mum Yup Flowers

Hope the rest of you avoid the lurgy That, and Big Small isn’t too poorly.

Good luck with flu jab and hope the cats aren’t too traumatised ED. Petrol has been no problem round here but I’ll need to fill up after today’s commute ready for Monday so I hope problems aren’t arising again!

Nothing to report here other than the house is still standing and I’m surviving work. Yesterday was ridiculous again and today is likely to be worse as we have staff off, but as I’m so close to the weekend and no more clinical work I think I’ll survive.

EerilyDisembodied · 08/10/2021 07:06

Yes, I've read that it's just London and the SE still having fuel problems (DBIL, West Mids says it sorted itself after a couple of days there). I drive a lot so it's a pain, I don't like the uncertainty of not knowing when I'll be able to fill up.

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 08/10/2021 07:38

Morning all!

Hope school goes ok for ds zoo and that lilzoo gets there! Fingers crossed for negative lft for dd2. Anti-vax people are nuts.

My lurgy child will not be passed 28 days when his jab is due at school so i don't think they will do it. Hopefully he can get it at a later date.

Thanks for the kind words yup

Up how long til mat leave?

Our council tax bill is bloody ridiculous already Sad

Hope cagletini is ok scream none of mine have had the flu spray yet

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 08/10/2021 07:49

Petrol is still a problem here in Bucks, ED. Our closest 3 petrol stations are usually out, and massive queues across mini roundabouts form whenever they have some. Luckily, we had a full tank of petrol in the big car (c. 600 miles) when all this blew up and no-one drives to work so we are still doing ok, but it won't last forever. DS2 managed to find some last week (smaller tank, more miles to work) but took his bike back to his flat just in case.

It is apparently Friday. DH had a really late night at a works' dinner and slept very badly due to too much diet coke. DD needs a lift to school because Thursdays really knock the stuffing out of her and she just can't face walk-train-walk this morning with lots of people. They are too peopley. DS3 has Mandarin in 14 minutes and is generally unkeen about the early start.

Hey ho. It's a PO3 day.

  1. Get dressed
  2. Get DD to school
  3. Cardiologist appointment.
IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 08/10/2021 08:03

Sorry about the +lft, Those, hope he does not spread it around with vigour. I had to do the first lft on DS3 earlier this week and it was very distressing for everyone - his sensory issues make things up his nose a massive problem, and he went through a period last year of random nosebleeds so he was terrified of starting that again.

If our council tax goes up I think we'll just have DH's salary split between Tesco and the Council, to save time 🙄.

Hills I meant to say yesterday, totally with you on the state of the government. How they haven't fallen already is beyond me.

Morning zoo, hope Lilzoo gets cleanly into school and DD2's bloods go smoothly.

ScreamToTheSky · 08/10/2021 08:42

Morning all. Cagletini off nursery today, she’s not in as much pain today but still under the weather. I am feeling like crap but really need to get up.

po3.1
❗️Breakfast and extra meds
❗️Get DS to do some work
❗️Move laundry on and do another towel LOL if there’s enough

AbandonAllHalfHope · 08/10/2021 10:15

Just joining Willow in praising Hills for her expert assessment of the Current Political Situation (CPS). Makes me want to crawl back under the duvet as if that's any help to me or wider society.

I am thinking of the Universal Credit cut too and how people will struggle to eat and stay warm this winter. Oh and it's meant to be a cold winter with added flu cases.

I want the 90s back.

Last parent teacher meeting this morning. DS off to school in yellow for Young Minds Day.

those thinking of your family and hope everyone recovers or does not catch the lurgy.

Good luck with the cardiologist appointment Willow.

What a dull dreich Friday up here. I am going to do a list of need to get done things. If it is any consolation the home bleurgh was not done in this house this week. I have regrouted the mouldy part near the sink and changed door handles on four doors including two with locks. There was much cussing because the old holes did not always match up. Anyway tis done. Carpenter friend coming this afternoon to measure up two hall doorways for replacement pre finished glazed toughened glass doors to replace the frosted glass early 90s ones (the one thing I don't like about the 90s). Hall is so small and dark we can't have ordinary doors.

Thank the stars it's Friday. I couldn't cope if today was Monday.

AbandonAllHalfHope · 08/10/2021 10:16

We had a lovely escapee dog just like WillowHound in our backgarden so reunited him with his grateful owner. Lovely waggy tail (on dog not owner)

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/10/2021 10:53

Can I just say I fucking HATE technology

sorry as you were.

(mobile, and scanner issues this morning, after yesterday's fun of website and email issues)

I'd go out but i am waiting for a call. Sad

OP posts:
ScreamToTheSky · 08/10/2021 11:13

:o at the dog hope

Argh hills I hear ya! Hope you get your call soon.

How is it 11am already? I feel I’ve done nothing. DS has finished his maths book though he’s having a break now so I should do other stuff.

po3.2
❗️Write and send volunteering summaries as I didn’t last night
❗️Declutter emails and photos because my storage is full again
❗️Find my maths book as I didn’t do that last night either

Also will get DH to finish the sanding in the bathroom - we’ve stalled yet again and I’m still really worried about how on earth we will manage everything when I’m adding work and study to my week. DH is really struggling and is pretty much out of pain relief options now, and the less I can do with housework/kidmin etc the more is piled on him. It’s a very different scenario to when I first got sick and he easily took on everything. Now everything is a constant juggling act with no standard solution. Aaaargh.

Right. Must stop ranting and get on with it!

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/10/2021 11:44

ta da
argue with phone
deal with accidental miss call

Put clothes in dryer.
check which plant is apparently ready to harvest. it is not.

I need a to do list, and maybe to find yesterday's and check what was/wasn't done from that.

OP posts:
ScreamToTheSky · 08/10/2021 13:48

po3.3
❗️Move dry clothes out of dryer cupboard as friend is using it shortly
❗️Get dressed properly
❗️Wash door frame and skirting in bathroom when DH finishes sanding

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/10/2021 19:20

those my neighbours granddaughter lives with her and had covid less 28days ago,so can't have it now.shes been told there will be extra options at local Vax centre for those that couldn't or change mind in a month or so

GoingGoingGoth · 08/10/2021 21:57

Just popping in (again) honestly I don’t know where the day goes.

But I definitely won’t be around for the next week as I’m finally going to see my parents. It’s been 2 years!

Tomorrow’s list Is to drop cat off at cattery and to pack EVERYTHING .

EerilyDisembodied · 08/10/2021 22:30

Have a lovely week Goth and good luck with capturing your cat for the cattery. One of my little madams had me searching the house from top to bottom today and ended up missing her jabs and having to be rebooked for next week, she strolled down the stairs 4 hours later 🙄.

I had my flu jab today and they did ask if I had had covid in the last 28 days.

So, tada!
