Right for this seasonal thread of the Fledgings, I invite you to pull up a comfy chair around the fire pit and pour yourself a mug of something that you fancy.

We loosely follow the flylady system and her babysteps. But we have our own spin, our own abbreviations and have been around for far longer than some of us would like to admit. If you are new to these parts welcome in, we'll get you up to speed in no time. But we have rules, yes rules!

Rule 1: No fledgling left behind.
life happens. If you fall off the thread, jump back when you are ready.

Rule 2: If you wouldn't say it to someone else, don't say it to yourself
Be kind to yourself, the world is still crazy, and life happens. Just do what you can, when you can.

Right that's the rules now for the fun part. Acronyms and autocorrects!
Amongst others (and there are others but we'll have to explain as we go along)
It's all gone a bit ponty pridd - tits up, pete tong, wrong etc etc we get to thank auto correct for this
WOW wash out Wednesday - humps days often don't go to plan and get washed out
LOL round these parts it is load of laundry

Urm... Yeah about that fire pit and comfy chair... Dibs on the big floofy one with fluffy blankies... Last one in brings the marshmallows!

Hills have you seen the salt lamps. Not good for reading but a soothing light. DD left hers with me. Felt lamps are lovely too? I have a tall narrow one a friend on my course made. She sells on Etsy. At least she used to. Mine is off white with lilies, some have hydrangeas ago a soft glow rather than a bright light.

DS 1 doesn’t sound very well, he is exhausted. Bloody Covid.

Redsquirrel5 · 06/10/2021 20:38

Oh sorry Yup.💐good that he was able to care for her it will help him later on.

Badger’s Parting Gifts is a good book for children. I get a lump in my throat but it has helped some children I did some bereavement work with.

Goodness hasn’t Baby Phoebe filled out. Love her little chubby cheeks.❤️

ScreamToTheSky · 06/10/2021 21:00

Aww famous she’s so lovely 🥰 very cool vest too!

Yup so sorry about your MIL. 💐 It is good DH was able to go there for a while. Be kind to yourselves 💐

Hills I hope you can figure out a way to get some more light in! Our house doesn’t get much light really. Intrigued about plant friendly lighting, I’d be interested to hear if you find something that works! Thanks for the YouTube video BTW, I shall watch that in a bit.

I had a nice restful morning, and I did feel a bit more motivated later in the day but didn’t actually get around to doing anything. 🤦🏻‍♀️

po3.2
❗️Put laundry in dryer and put new LOL on
❗️Get DD1 to do her jobs
❗️Look at email from HR and see what I need to do

ScreamToTheSky · 06/10/2021 21:34

po3.3
❗️Get DD1 to take a photo of me for my staff ID, then email it plus required info to HR. And ask where I’m supposed to use the email login they’ve given me 😳
❗️Gather more dirty laundry so I can empty the basket in the morning
❗️Clear landing a bit

Mc3209 · 06/10/2021 22:10

Famous how adorable is Phoebe! Such a cutie 😊
Yup my condolences. It must be very tough for everyone.
Willow glad you got the bill letter people back on a right track. I hope the toilet saga will have a solution.

Ta das:
🌟Cleaned microwave
🌟Mopped the floors again (McBaby is at the throwing food stage..)
🌟Usual kitchen clean up post cooking, DW rotation

That's it really. Should probably clean the oven this week..

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2021 08:42

How impressed do you think the teen will be when i wake him up to tell him he has 15mins to get to school?

Tbf he is still snotty and grotty and not feeling great so i am going to email school for their policy before I wake him. But YAY! can leave the house. Which is a bloody good thing because we need milk!

I NEED to tackle the mountain of paperwork that needs filing this morning. motivation to do this is rarely there, so i am hoping the little I have is enough to get me started. Because getting started is always the hardest part.

Famous - she is adorable!

MrsT - was glad to see your news and understand why you wanted that removed. Hope to see you back for normal cleaning / chatter when the dust settles.

Red - i have see the salt lights. But mostly i need it to brighten a dark corner because for some unknown reason none of the light fittings are in the middle of the ceilings in this house and are all off to one corner. As it is the corner with my bed being able to read or knit or sew etc is going to be important for my flare/crash days. I am thinking about getting some colour changing strip lights and running them on the edge of the unit that is used to partition the bed from the rest of the room.

Sing - yep you can get plant lights - great for seed starting to help prevent the plants getting leggy, but also good when you have a light loving plant in a dull room. I realised that i have an ikea plant thingy with a light in and the plants i have don't need huge amounts of light, just more than they would get from nature. So i can rotate 4 plants and they can have a few hours in there per day per plant. It just needs plugging in so that is great. I am eyeing up some grow lights for the seed starting shelves though.

Willow - good luck with the toilet sorting situation.

🌻🌼🌷⚘🌱🌲🌳🌴🌵🌾🌿☘🍀🍁🌺🥀🌹🏵💮🌸💐🍁🍀☘🌿🌾🌱🌲🌳🍁🌲

Hills- its so wonderful you can grow plants. I have just seen gardeners world and in a hospital in surrey- docs and nurses have grown a vegatable garden in the office next to the windows. It looks beautiful.
Wish i had green fingers. Above are the only plants I can keep alive.

Famous- awww, lovely picture of baby!
MrsT- so glad to hear the school are on it and sorting it.
Willow- dont do too much!
Red- i think nuture groups are very special.
Scream - sending you motivation.
Mc- sending cuddles for Mctiny.

I am ashamed to say my sitting room needs a major declutter. ( think kids cutting up paper and making stuff everywhere.)
Posting so I get it sorted.
Watching decluttering videos for motivation. If there was a SOS button i would be pressing it.

Dd went to her 1st girl guides session- so absolutely loved it - confident, happy joining in the games. It made me feel guilty the the house is such a wreck, that coming home its messy. I have to do it now. The advantage was the kids were asleep in 3mins by 8.30pm!

Plus I need to have tea ready around 4pm to feed the kids then go onto clubs for 5.30/6pm.
What kind of food do you serve on club days?

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 07/10/2021 09:40

Morning all! I really must remember not to look at Twitter / the headlines before I've had a cup of tea, I'm furious with everything now.

Hills good luck with low carbing. I looked at it too and decided it's just too difficult since I can't eat eggs (or avocado). I "just" need to work on getting sugar and ultra processed food out of my diet .

All I am hoping for today is getting through it. DH is going into Actual London, FIL is signing documents and will undoubtedly cock it up somewhere, DM is coming here before her haircut to talk about toilets again, and the dog needs his anti-flea meds. Yippee.

To do:
🎃 NLMS
🕸️ Walk WillowHound

Dancingtomusic · 07/10/2021 09:43

Willow- I havent seen any news or anything this morning - oh no whats happened. (Off to have a look.)

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 07/10/2021 09:48

Yup very sorry hear of your MIL's death - hope your DP is helped in his grieving by knowing he cared for her at the end. 💐

Famous what a delicious squishy baby! 😁

Dancing do you have an oven that can be set on a timer? On club days I used to put pasta bake / bake potatoes etc on the timer to be ready for 4, so I could set it up at lunchtime and it would fix itself.

MrsT glad the school have things in hand. Sorry your cupboard cleaning gave you aches and pains! It's at that point that I remember I'm not 27 anymore and all my joints creak.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 07/10/2021 09:49

Dancing it's just government spouting bollocks about the economy. It makes me furious that people still think Johnson is "great fun" 🤦 like that's a key pre-requisite for running the country!

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2021 10:00

Ah I wondered if it was the council tax price hike warning along with the gas price/company collapse warning.

It's all a bit of a nightmare.

Yup sorry i missed your news. Condolences on the loss of your MIL.

Thank you hills that’s really interesting!

I am completely devoid of energy and motivation today. Only just got out of bed properly.

po3.1
❗️Move laundry to dryer and put new LOL in
❗️Do work with DS who’s had a lazy morning thanks to my lack of effort (DH took Cagletini to nursery and then went for blood tests so is only just home)
❗️Check PC to see if keyboard actually works. Both my pupil and I had issues yesterday so have rearranged lesson for today. I can make it work without but I’ll need a bit more prep time.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2021 10:04

Willow the whole political system makes me feel like that. We have no credible opposition, the lot in power need a reality check, the lot behind the scenes need a good bollocking and to stop the infighting between them and the politicians, the general public need a good eye opener and the media needs to be banned from emotive news reporting and returned to factual news reporting.

And that is the polite version.

Joining the chaos with a positive lft Angry

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2021 10:39

Oh heck those you or a little? You ok?

OP posts:
ScreamToTheSky · 07/10/2021 10:54

Oh no those 😩

po3.2
❗️Prep as much as possible for lesson later as the keyboard is working… for now
❗️Look for some world space week stuff for Cagletini to do
❗️Try and find electronics kit that was on the Kallax upstairs

YupIFreakilyHave · 07/10/2021 11:08

Thanks for the condolences everyone . 🙏

hills none of my ceiling lights are in the centre. It drives me bonkers just looking at them. Makes me all twitchy.

To-do
Clean bathroom
Call mum
Do LoL

YupIFreakilyHave · 07/10/2021 11:09

Can someone remind me what lft is? Thanks

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 07/10/2021 11:11

A big small hills we are ok, its just a pain isn't it

Lft - lateral flow test yup Sorry for your loss FlowersSad

Dancingtomusic · 07/10/2021 11:19

Scream - hope your keyboard keeps working.
Yup- hope you all are ok, sorry to hear the sad news of your mil.
Those- oh crumbs.

Hills- i think that was very polite. Wish the political parties would remember that families are walking on a very thin line on paying the bills and not making it. Its not a joke - people are struggling. Its upsetting that its thought of so lightly in government.

Willow- good ideas- I like pasta bake- kids like it too.
Baking potatoes - good idea.

Mentally and physically I am a mess and have crashed. Had to just forgot everything and get into bed. Just drained, we all have touches of cold, sore throats here.

Tada yesterday-
Jewish chicken soup- think the healing properties of it has made dd and myself feel better.
Dh- been ill for a week with bad chest infection. So I am now crashing from carrying the load of the house.

Todo-
Revive myself with a tea.
Make fajitas using the chicken from the poached chicken.
Gently ease myself back into running the day
Roatate lol into dryer
Washed bras as bloody fabric softner has made them go soft- i need all the structural support I can get!
(Off to make a tea) puts lots of teas and coffees with biscuits in the naughty corner.

ScreamToTheSky · 07/10/2021 13:06

Lesson prepped (possibly Monday’s too depending how she gets on) and I had a nice relaxing time watching some Netflix after.

po3.3
❗️Lunch
❗️Do some activities with Cagletini and get DS to do some science
❗️Get dressed in time for lesson at 2

ScreamToTheSky · 07/10/2021 15:52

Lesson done. Went brilliantly (although she did so well I now have to prep more stuff for Monday 🤣) and the computer behaved itself 😅

Still want to do something crafty or puzzly with the little one, then:

po3.4
❗️Move laundry on and put towel LOL in
❗️Write and send session summaries to volunteer supervisor
❗️Find where my maths book went and relax a bit

ScreamToTheSky · 07/10/2021 16:25

Still haven’t drawn anything…

Pumpkin spice and ghost abound, fledglings flying through the crazy
THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 07/10/2021 16:34
