Do you mean vacuum?

I don't consider mopping, vacuuming and general dusting to be deep cleaning unless you move out furniture

I hoover/ mop floors once a week. Not what I call deep cleaning. That involves skirting boards

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 26/09/2021 17:03

Bloody hell, I just don't have time for that! Probably about every 2 weeks DP and I blitz the place. Bathrooms are done properly once a week with toilets being bleached most days and sinks given a quick wipe. We both work full time and the weekend is for enjoying with family.

Ragwort · 26/09/2021 17:04

Not nearly as often as you Grin.

I aim to hoover & wash floor once a week ... in reality it's not that frequent (no DC or pets).

sylbunny · 26/09/2021 17:04

I don't think I've ever deep cleaned my house? Maybe when moving.

I have a cleaner who does most of it once a week and then I do general tidying and hoovering when needed in between. Quick swish of the loo mid week.

WaltzingBetty · 26/09/2021 17:05

Isn't hoovering and mopping just normal housework?
I wouldn't consider that a deep clean.
But about once a week for me

ohnotanotherusername · 26/09/2021 17:05

Deep clean twice a week. Hoover daily. I know it's not normal.

QueenoftheKarens · 26/09/2021 17:06

Mopping and vacuuming isn't deep cleaning.., that's just normal cleaning? I do that every day. Grin

catfunk · 26/09/2021 17:06

That's not deep cleaning

firstimemamma · 26/09/2021 17:07

I hoover and mop weekly. Wouldn't consider it a 'deep clean' - that gets done once a year.

lazylinguist · 26/09/2021 17:07

I consider hoovering and mopping as normal cleaning, not deep cleaning, and I'm a bit of a slattern no clean freak. I hoover (well, the robot does) 3 times a week and mop twice a week (bedrooms only once). I'd do it a bit less if I didn't have pets.

SheABitSpicyToday · 26/09/2021 17:08

Multiple times a day atm because I’m nesting Grin

mandy20x · 26/09/2021 17:08

What would you guys consider deep cleaning? Because i do move my furniture and clean behind them and dust to, tbh i work 30 hours and have a 1 year old but i just cant reat until its done am getting sick of it i dnnt know if its just turned into a habit for me

OP posts:
userxx · 26/09/2021 17:09

Mopping and hoovering is just cleaning. Deep cleaning is a big job.

mandy20x · 26/09/2021 17:09

Rest*
So sorry for my spelling today

I don't think you're deep cleaning. I do what you do every day or so. Takes only minutes

A deep clean to me is moving every piece of furniture - so the things you don't do too often such as beds and sofas away from walls. It's on your hands and knees cleaning the skirting boards. It's up on the work tops in the kitchen cleaning the cupboard tops. It's removing filters from the cooker hood to clean them

And the above I do every few months

userxx · 26/09/2021 17:12

Deep cleaning to me is hoovering then wiping down all skirting boards and doors, moving the sofa and other furniture, getting the carpets professionally cleaned. Kitchen cupboards emptied and cleaned inside and out.

Regardless of what we all class as a deep clean, is there a problem ? Do you feel it's taking over ?

Standrewsschool · 26/09/2021 17:16

Aim to clean the house once a week. Ie. Clean bathrooms and toilets. Dust furniture etc. Hoover more regularly.

Moving furniture and cleaning behind them - Hmm.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 26/09/2021 17:21

I never do it. But my cleaner comes once a month and deep cleans. Other than that we just clean up behind us as we go and run the Hoover around occasionally.

PippaOwl · 26/09/2021 17:22

But it's fine to clean as much or as little as you fancy? I prefer my house fresh and sparkling and I quite like keeping on top of it

If you can't rest because you haven't mopped though and there's no visible spillage or dirt etc then you may need to consider whether there's something deeper going on
