Please help me decide on a name for my cleaning company

Sole trader, mainly domestic properties - I really need to come up with a name! I don’t want to use my name or initials, and I’m trying to think of something which might stand out to my target client - someone who values attention to detail, proactivity, reliability, professionalism and punctuality.

I do seem to make fussy people very happy, those who have been left a little disappointed by their previous cleaners. Don’t get me wrong: I’m absolutely NOT only looking for the more discerning clients - I’d just like to (hopefully) find a company name which would stand out to them!

I live in an affluent area of West Berkshire, if that helps?

If you were looking for a cleaner, and scrolling through a list of potentials, are there any which might stand out to you?

I’ll be building a website too, so the name is just the start!

Most people go by word of mouth... anything like "sparkle angels" or "quality cleaners" would put me off... don't know what I'd think is a good name though!

MakkaPakkas · 16/09/2021 18:27

House elves? The cleaning fairies? Magical cleaning

Thoughtcontagion · 16/09/2021 18:28

Hyacinth & Bucket first thing that popped into my head

5 * cleaning

A* cleaning

WeeFae · 16/09/2021 18:29

There is one local to me called Daily Poppins which really sticks in my head.

WithMyEncyclopedia · 16/09/2021 18:29

Paragon cleaning

"A*" looks like those cab companies trying to get to the first phonebook listing.

I'd prefer to see allusions to hard work rather than magic! But I'm a curmudgeon!

SnarkyBag · 16/09/2021 18:31

Done and Dusted

Coffeemakesmehappy · 16/09/2021 18:32

I agree, and I’m certainly asking current clients to recommend me to their friends, but a couple have already said that they want to keep me to themselves - lovely, but not terribly helpful! They have said that they would provide an excelllent reference, however.

There are quite a few companies which mention words such as ‘sparkle’, ‘quality’, ‘quick’ etc. in my area, and that’s what I’m trying to avoid.

Very difficult!

First Class Cleaning?

SnarkyBag · 16/09/2021 18:33

Anything to do with elves, fairies or magic conjours up images of SAHM doing a bit of cleaning to fit round the kids. It does y sound professsional

Bobbybobbins · 16/09/2021 18:33

I like Done and Dusted too.

Sparkle and shine?

Spic and Span although I like Done and Dusted better.
Or something like 'All Done!' It's what my two year old says when she sees I've finished in the kitchenGrin

SylvanasWindrunner · 16/09/2021 18:37

Done and Dusted is great!

Coffeemakesmehappy · 16/09/2021 18:38

@Thoughtcontagion

Ooh, Hyacinth and Bouquet … one of my clients was referred to me as a ‘HB’! He thought we’d get on, and we do!

I like it …

@SylvanasWindrunner

Done and Dusted is great!
Yes, but that's why it's being used by several companies in the uk already. It's a no go.
NautaOcts · 16/09/2021 18:42

Are you planning to take on staff and expand? If so I really don’t think you’ll need a name.
Once your week is full (which I’m sure won’t take too long) if people are happy they won’t let you go very often and you’ll have no trouble filling slots. I honestly wouldn’t worry about name or website and wouldn’t have thought good individual cleaners need that.

PetronellaDilemma · 16/09/2021 18:42

*if not

Coffeemakesmehappy · 16/09/2021 18:42

@SnarkyBag
@Bobbybobbins

@SylvanasWindrunner

Only problem with ‘Done and Dusted’ is that there’s a dog groomer (who I use) with that name?

But is IS a good name …

SylvanasWindrunner · 16/09/2021 18:43

Don't think it's necessarily has to be a no go. Do any of them operate in OP's area? There's often quite a high level of duplication of company names across the UK for ventures like this.

topcat2014 · 16/09/2021 18:43

Going against the grain, why not look at something that sounds very 'establishment' as opposed to a bit naff.

Perhaps something using surnames etc (note these don't have to be your names!)

Wilberforce & Morris
Arbuthnot & Co
Featherstone Housework.

BrilliantBetty · 16/09/2021 18:43

I prefer a name.
If I see it is an individual rather than a company I assume I will get a better £ rate and a better service since it's not likely to be random cleaners each time. A name makes it more sincere somehow.
