Where do you store "half dirty" clothes?

... things that are worn but you'll wear again before washing, like jeans and jumpers? I don't want to put them back in a drawer with the clean clothes. They currently hang around on the backs of chairs, looking messy.

I have a valet stand to put things on

MaidEdithofAragon · 30/08/2021 07:41

Have an old fashioned coat rack (pole on three legs with pegs sticking out), with hangers on it. This is where all my 'current' stuff lives. I also put two or three work outfits on there on a Sunday evening, so I'm sorted for the start of the week.

HairyMaryMyCanary · 30/08/2021 07:42

I wash them. Nothing worn goes back into a cupboard - except coats and jackets, and they go in a wardrobe together, not with other clothes.

Bythebeach · 30/08/2021 07:46

We all have a row of hooks on the back of our bedroom doors for this purpose. My eldest teen still manages a floordrobe though. And mine sometimes overspill to bannisters.

I read that on my 'threads I'm on' and for a moment my brain translated it to 'I hand them to my valet' 😅

I thought this was what an exercise bike was for? Mine never got used for exercising.

Ohfudgeme · 30/08/2021 07:56

We have fabric hanging shoe racks in our wardrobe we fold our wear again and put the clothes in that.

Haha! Yes, the rowing machine at my partner's house is also quite good for this Grin

On the chair and it really does my head in.
I know people who can’t deal with it and Everything goes in the wash 🤨

proudwomansexmatters · 30/08/2021 08:17

@Blueskyrainshowers I WISH that were the case!! Sadly no, just the valet stand £12 from IKEA!

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2021 08:32

I tend to think that once an item has been worn, and got grot, sweat, bacteria etc on it, if it's closeted away these things will fester and start to be nifty.
Our coats are hung up in the hall.
I appreciate that this is probably illogical

No, I think that's about right.

There are a few things like dresses or skirts that might go back after airing but mostly it's not a good idea. Also my wardrobe is quite crammed, I have to do layered hanging to fit it in (coat hangers hung off each other with ring pulls) so putting things back would be a faff.

If I had space I'd have one of those freestanding hanging rails.

SquirrelFan · 30/08/2021 08:40

What about bras? Don't want to put them in with clean undies but don't wash every wear. Mine hang from the arm of the chair. I also have door hooks, but that's where my dressing gown lives.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2021 08:47

Bras are looped on the hangers on the door with the garments they go with.
I've got a hanger for my Pilates kit with a light sports bra with it, for instance. If there's a pale top for rewearing it'll have the pale bra with it.

ShadowsInTheDarkness · 30/08/2021 13:09

Tops and bras go back in the drawer, along with cardigans if they've not been worn for long. Jeans and bulkier cardigans hang on a chair, or sometimes from the knobs on my wardrobe.

Givemethatknife · 30/08/2021 13:27

I have a bunch of hooks on the inside of the bedroom door - worn but clean jumpers, shirts, jeans go there, and then I periodically dump them back in wardrobe when they’ve had a chance to air. The I have some hooks inside wardrobe door where worn once bras can hang to get a bit of an airing before being worn again.

teenmumandsowhat · 30/08/2021 18:29

I have a metal bedframe, anything that I plan on wearing again the next day etc i hang on the end of the bed. Or I leave on the chair in the bathroom.

Slub · 30/08/2021 19:58

I have a row of hooks on back of bedroom door - dressing gown and nightie also live there alongside jeans etc until I deem them minging enough to proceed to laundry basket Grin
