Where do you store "half dirty" clothes?

... things that are worn but you'll wear again before washing, like jeans and jumpers? I don't want to put them back in a drawer with the clean clothes. They currently hang around on the backs of chairs, looking messy.

If your house is prone to moths, they enjoy slightly dirty clothes especially females clothes so best to keep them in the open as moths also enjoy dark places

LaBellina · 30/08/2021 07:09

On a chair in the bedroom or on a coat hanger on the balcony so it can sit.

LaBellina · 30/08/2021 07:10

Air I mean not sit

HungryHippo11 · 30/08/2021 07:12

If I'm planning to wear it the next day, on the floor.
If I'm not planning to wear it the next day I just put it back in the drawer it came from.

Don't understand not storing them with clean clothes. If they're clean enough to wear they're clean enough to put with other clothes.

dudsville · 30/08/2021 07:16

I've changed recently, trying to wash clothing less frequently. If I haven't sweated and it doesn't smell of something like a chip shop or camp fire, then I sure it out do a check over for whether it needs to be washed and if not I, deep breaths now, I put it back away.

Karwomannghia · 30/08/2021 07:20

I just put them away again, I thought the chair thing was people being lazy! Do you keep coats out to air?

KohlaParasanda · 30/08/2021 07:22

Mine go on the "Limbo chair" and my husband puts his on top of a low chest of drawers. With the exception of coats and formal dresses or suits, I wouldn't put clothes I've worn away without washing them.

Keiki · 30/08/2021 07:23

I use one of those small ottoman cubes for those clothes. Much tidier than a visible heap.

MoonahStone · 30/08/2021 07:24

Can I ask why pp aren't putting these clothes back in the wardrobe?

Binting · 30/08/2021 07:26

@LaBellina, I have visions of dresses sat on balcony chairs enjoying the view…

Blueskyrainshowers · 30/08/2021 07:28

@doublehelix

In usual place (hanger or shelf) but inside out as code for worn once
Oh I like that idea! Mine usually go into the empty laundry basket. I am good at folding and putting away clean laundry so I don't have that to contend with. Dog walking jeans get flung over the bedroom door. DH has laid claim to the bedroom chair. Nothing I could ever do about that. He won't change.
LaBellina · 30/08/2021 07:28

Grin that actually sounds pretty creepy @Binting. The balcony is in the front of our home, I imagine them now sitting there and shouting at me as I come home asking when they’re gonna be worn again.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/08/2021 07:29

I have two hooks on the back of our bedroom door.

Blueskyrainshowers · 30/08/2021 07:29

@Agadorsparticus

I have a drawer especially for 'wear again' clothes. I'll have a clear out to the laundry if it needs filling to do a wash though.
I hadn't thought of this either. Good one!

Because I don’t want to put worn clothes in with the clean clothes @MoonahStone

Floordrobe & Chairdrobe. It’s drives DH mad but I wear a uniform for work so only have clothes on for a few hours after work so I’m not washing them after so little wear.

silentpool · 30/08/2021 07:32

Chairdrobe!

Blueskyrainshowers · 30/08/2021 07:33

@Karwomannghia

I tend to think that once an item has been worn, and got grot, sweat, bacteria etc on it, if it's closeted away these things will fester and start to be nifty. Our coats are hung up in the hall. I appreciate that this is probably illogical.
ChickenSchnitzel · 30/08/2021 07:33

Back in the drawer/wardrobe. Surely they're either clean enough to wear again and can be put away, or they're not and go in the wash? Will a once worm pair of jeans contaminate the rest of the wardrobe if they're put back? Confused

Blueskyrainshowers · 30/08/2021 07:36

I meant niffy not nifty.
Also , I've done care in the community and come across many stale smelling bedrooms and wardrobes, so I have a bit of a thing about my own not getting like that.

User56439876 · 30/08/2021 07:36

@MoonahStone

Can I ask why pp aren't putting these clothes back in the wardrobe?
Because of encouraging moths
RuthTopp · 30/08/2021 07:37

I have a wooden blanket box and they are chucked folded on there.

leavesthataregreen · 30/08/2021 07:37

bedroom chair

AliMonkey · 30/08/2021 07:38

If tops etc then back in wardrobe with hanger the opposite way round. If eg a cardi that lives on hanger and can be worn several times as only worn over other things then just back in wardrobe as normal. If eg jeans then on my half-dirty shelf at top of wardrobe.

Blueskyrainshowers · 30/08/2021 07:38

I think it probably depends if you are going to wear then again soon, or if they'll sit there for a couple of weeks or more while you wear something else. That's why I like the suggestion of putting it away inside out or in it's own drawer. Genius!! (I too am trying to cut down on my washing)
AlrightThereSkippy · 30/08/2021 07:40

I put them back in the wardrobe unless they smell bad or something...in which case, I'd probably wash them. DH used the floordrobe method though and thinks putting them back in the wardrobe is weird!
