Nightmare flooring problem

First I know there's nothing I can do but does anyone have any advise?

Bloke is currently here laying vinyl flooring. First he upped the price once here, said he needed money for adhesive which I assumed was part of the price. Second the floor is the wrong vinyl. Nothing to do with him I got it from a carpet shop. What should I do? He's already cut it, asked me to take a look and it's blue and orange and not black and white as I ordered. i was in hospital so didn't have an opportunity to check the vinyl, the flooring bloke had a cancelled job so said he'd come this avo.

It was all a bit rushed. I'm screwed aren't I.

Tell him to stop. It's the wrong floor, not the one you paid for.

He'd already cut it to size by the time I saw it. He isn't resp9onsible for the problem, the carpet company are!!

I'm freaking out. It's over £100 to get this thing fitted and I'm going to have to do it all over again!

Did you really mean blue and orange, OP? Can you post a photo as I’ve never seen flooring that colour.

If the carpet shop delivered the wrong vinyl you’ll have to contact them and get him back again when they’ve delivered the right product.

I think you are on the flooring. It’s really your responsibility to check the item you’ve had delivered before it is cut or installed. But you can call the shop and if what was delivered by mistake is cheaper than what you ordered, they have to refund you the difference in price. If it’s more expensive, too bad, you don’t pay any extra because it was their mistake.

Be strong. Call the carpet shop. Be belligerent even. I had very similar happen to me and it still upsets me when I remember it. Fitter ripped my vinyl floor. And I cried and worried. Should have insisted it was put right. That’s what you’re going to do.

Maybe it’s just my phone but I can only see blue, black and white/cream in that photo.

But yes, if they delivered the wrong product you need to speak to the carpet shop and tell them what’s happened.

I have no problem being belligerant with the flooring company but a. it's been cut and fitted and b. I'll have to pay for more vinyl and to have it fitted again, so that's £100 to get it fitted and another hundred or so for more vinyl.

Of course I should have checked but I was in hospital when it was delivered and I wasn't here. Have only just got back and the fitter called to say he'd had a cancellation and he could come this afternoon instead of next week.

I think you could still explain all that to the flooring company. You shouldn’t have to check they’ve delivered the right product and it’s not your fault you couldn’t check it.

I had my bathroom redone and the flooring company sent two packs of Karndean and one pack of something completely different. I hadn’t moved in so couldn’t check it - the bathroom fitter contacted me when he got to the last box.

I had to get the last box redelivered and the bathroom fitter couldn’t come back for four weeks.

They never asked for the other pack back so I now have a pack of good flooring that I plan to use in the downstairs toilet

I going to have to ask the flooring company to resend as a gesture of goodwill and i'm going to have to pay another sodding fitter! I'm gutted. I was really looking forward to this vinyl being laid and sorting out my hallway. If they had sent the grey or even the black. it would have been fine but blue and orange ...

It looks orange down but even if it is brown my house is Nordic style and black/white/grey not a hint of blue and browny orange. The fitter is still here taking ages and I'm going to have to rip it up again.

Because he has already cut it to size when I saw it was the wrong floor. I was also wondering if when it's covered in the hall runner, I won't be able to see it and might be able to live with it. I was going to have to pay for it anyway so I told him to go ahead.

I hope so, it's been cut so they don't usually. I'm going to have to complain. It doesn't look bad down, he's done a good job. I'll call the carpet place tomorrow and see what they say. See how I feel about it overnight and if it grows on me when it's covered up.
