Morning EHM hope all is good with you and yours

SMS, Tort thanks for last nights game, was good fun.

I had a terrible nights sleep and am completely exhausted. Ds was awake on and off every hour all night complaining about feeling sick and having earache - I suspect he may have an ear-infection looming

I have to go to work soon but need to get myself feeling presentable first - I look a state at the moment!

Hope everyone has a nice day, see you all later x

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 17/11/2007 08:21

Morning EHM...hope you get a minute to yourself today!

Morning All

Bianca It sounds like the day was a sucess...well done you

Tort Good luck on finding a Wii, I heard on the radio that nintendo don't think they can actually meet demand in time for xmas so fingers crossed you find one.

Well I did my food shopping yesterday...spent too much in Iceland (I picked up a few xmas pressies too) I am doing quite well though, have manged to stick within my budget so far, and only have my 3 to find pressies for now.

No idea what I'm doing today...may take a quick trip to town to see if I can find a few more bits and bobs.

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 17/11/2007 08:22

Oh...xposts Bianca.....awwww poor ds
Hope he is ok, and hope you can get some well earned rest after work today!

BiancaCastafiore · 17/11/2007 08:30

Thanks Luda My dad has offered to babysit tonight so dh and I can go out to watch a local play. Very kind but all I really want to do is sit on my own sofa, watch telly and drink wine! May feel differently this eve though, and it depends how ds is, he's quite subdued at the moment but says his ear feels better....

My target yesterday was just to beat last years £90 total and we did it easily so far I've counted £250 and I still have lots of small change to count out! A very successful day and great fun too

Best get on, seem to have been sitting at the computer for ages already when I have to leave for work in (OMG is that the time?) 15 minutes!!

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 17/11/2007 08:31

Oh and madhouse Sleep is really good , headaches are still a bit hit and miss but luckily the one I've had was not very strong.......thank you very much for asking

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 17/11/2007 08:32

Gosh, you did brilliantly! that's a huge increase on last year! Cool

FrostyGlassSlipper · 17/11/2007 08:34

Morning Guys.

Am making flapjacks as we speak

Have to get a new fish today. Tried yesterday but it has half a tail so is going back and DD will get to choose another.

have a nice weekend.

TheMadHouse · 17/11/2007 08:48

Morning all

I do not know what it is at the moment - I feel like pants again. All bunged up, sore sinus' and headache. Hardly slept a wink

we had an OK afternoon, did manage a small bit of painting, but my friends LO was sick all over DS2 and then the boys godparents turned up.

well done Bianca Sounds like it was a fb day and I hope DS's ear gets better soon.

waves to Luda, EHM, FGS and all to come.

Catch you later - I am off to pop a load in the waasher

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 10:05

I really shouldn't of turned the PC on.
DD's have contact with their Dad today so i have 4 hrs to myself! Need to quickly cycle down town then must tidy, tidy, tidy!

Bianca Hope work goes ok and DS is ok. Sorry you didn't get much sleep.

Hi EHM Luda Thanks. I am getting doubtful i will find one under £200. Won't pay more than that. Will wait until after xmas if need be.
Glad your headaches are improving.

FGS Yum flapjacks. I need to make some of them too!

THM Hope you are feeling better soon. Take it easy.

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 17/11/2007 10:16

Hello All

Did all my jobs yesterday so minimal flying today. I have a job app to complete instead. I'll post more later/tomorrow.

Tort Dh said getting a wii on eBay is pricey as they are at a premium and sellers know that and tend to mark them up. He also says that they are like rockinghorse poo at the shops (he's so pleasant isn't he?) I don't usually listen to him but as he works in the computer games industry I conceed he knows what he's talking about on this one. He sourced the one Ed (pah, read DH) is getting from this site and has bought the add ons via ebay.com as the $ is weak to the £ atm.

EHM I know that feeling!

Luda Hope the migraines have halted

Gotta go. Have a good day

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 10:22

Thanks Go (Love the xmas name). Would be easier if i could buy online i think. But as i have no bank card i can use online i have to use shops/Ebay.
DS's understand they are hard to get and are ok about waiting if i don't get one. But just think of the look on their faces xmas day if i do get one!

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 17/11/2007 11:16

That's always a problem online if you don't have a card. Some retaillers do take paypal now tho so all may not be lost.

DH bought ours from Wilkinson's, do you get them in Devon?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 11:21

We do have a Wilkinsons. Well about 18 miles away! Didn't know they would have them!
Am keeping stock check thing on although not much use for me. Can't drive so no way of rushing into town if stock comes in instore!
Watching a few on Ebay!

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 17/11/2007 11:24

just a thought....

check to see if you can get wilkinson's online to deliver it to the store and pay on collection? The worst they can say is NO really

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 11:41

Thanks. I will take a look. Was about to cycle down town but got a bloody puncture! All fixed now. Just waiting for glue stuff to dry.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 12:33

Back from town. Met my brother and his gf down there. He said will be round soon . I won't get anything done now! I know i should of said no im busy but i couldn't. Stupid me!

TheMadHouse · 17/11/2007 14:54

We are back from having dropped back the dehumidifyer and also from calling in at ASDA, which is always a mistake with Dh as he impulse buys.

Although I did get some more christmas pressies:

2 rory puzzles £3.20
a huge box of duplow - £20
Slow Cooker for best friend - £7
Killers new album - £9.97

DS1 is refusing to have a nap and DS1 is sound asleep and I am enjoying a hopt cuppa and MN - he he he

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 17/11/2007 15:22

DD's are home now and my Brother has just left! I have got pretty much nothing done.Grr!
DS's will be home at 5 so i expect i will still get nothing done!

BiancaCastafiore · 17/11/2007 17:38

Hello

Good luck with the continuing Wii hunt Tort Hope you had fun with your bro.

Hello to Grouchy, TMH and FGS

I had an OK day at work, I was too tired to be chirpy with members of the public, but did my best. I had a very odd man in the shop at one point when I was on my own who gave me the creeps and for the first time ever (I've worked in a shop, often on my own for 15+ years) I felt very vunerable as a woman on my own - a horrible experience I was very pleased when the other member of staff arrived!

I came home at 3ish and have been watching High School Musical with dd for the rest of the afternoon

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 17/11/2007 18:03

Having a surreal day really.

I did the job application and took it down town to post but...
Post Office is shut
I only have 1 stamp
The closing date is Monday and Sunday collections are finished
so with Ed out of the way I get on the bus with the intention of putting it through the letter box get to the school but
All the gates are locked and there is no letter box!
End up giving it to the caretaker to pass on for Monday.
Get home and I notice the closing date is....
30/11/07
What planet have I been orbiting exactly?

Popped into the shops while I was downtown and ended up in TESCO! It was full of people buying tons of stuff like the end of the world had been announced. Bought Ed some clothes as I had a 200 extra clubcard points voucher. Got him a big snuggly cardi in the next size up and a couple of tops for next year/when he gets bigger.

Home, Sort out the top of the wardrobe. It's where were stashing the Xmas pressies and

Ed is getting far too much

There are toys, dvds, books, games and more stocking fillers than you can shake a sock at. Me and DH have been squirelling stuff away since/before his birthday. I work on the basis that Under 10 he will appreciate volume rather than specifics but HE IS GETTING NOTHING ELSE. He only has a little bedroom and we only have a little house.

Have a list of stuff to do

Ironing
Empty DW and put away
Sort out my paperwork on the hotspot that is the kitchen table

Other than the dishwasher it can wait till tomorrow

See you later

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 18/11/2007 08:24

Morning Everyone,

No plans for today, although I don't really want to stay in particularly...

Madhouse I'm impressed by your slow cooker at £7! Where was it from? Would you kindly fill me in on what a slow cooker is and what you can cook in it?

simply How is your sleeping going? still having bad dreams?

GO glad your xmas shopping is going well, mine is just depressing! I just can't afford all the things I'd like to get.
I have cleared the top of the wardrobe off too, and the bottom of the wardrobe too.

We have a really big family this year (I kid you not... 13 children under the age of 8 years , its really hard as most of my budget has gone on them! I've tried really hard to find toys/clothes in sales etc.) Haven't really started on my three yet, and the money trickles away far too fast.

I will try really hard next year to be a bit more organised.....I will try to find things throughout the year and hide them away.....good plan GO

Well on the plus side, woolies have some nice looking christmas crackers....6 for 80p!!! (I'm sure the contents reflect the price but TBH, the contents of crackers always end up in the bin.)

Anyhoo....I'm going to have another crumpet, and get the kids dressed, see you soon

BiancaCastafiore · 18/11/2007 09:22

Morning Luda

at 13 kids to buy for!

We have no other children in the family so no-one to spend our pennies on I end up buying our friends children presents to compensate though!
I've done most of the shopping for all the grown-ups but still need to getstarted on dd and ds. We have PiL for lunch today and I'm wondering about asking them to watch our two while we pop out to Toys R Us and have a quick look at what's about this year. Dd wants a pixel chick but I don't know much about them, they seem quite £. Ds changes his mind every few days so I have lots of ideas for him, but am not sure what he'll settle on yet...

I woke up this morning after a bad nights sleep (very stormy here over night) and have a very sore throat and feeling pretty run down

Dh has taken the kids downstairs for brekkie so I've had a nice warm bath

Just need to battle to get everyone dressed next - at what age do kids start to get dressed without a fight every morning?

No FLYing other than laundry for me...well, I might just run the hoover round before PiL arrive....

See you all later x

Simply · 18/11/2007 10:21

Hello to all. Sorry, I'm throwing myself into trying to find an au pair atm as there are a number looking to start in Jan/Feb. Once I find one who is committed to coming to us, I need to get the bedroom sorted. Also, we're having a new bathroom put in and I want that done before she comes if possible. All go here. Nightmares continuing but I'm going to have a blood test to see if my tablet dose is too high and causing them. Sorry this is so short. I'm going to go to the supermarket to do the weekly shop so I must dash. Hope all are ok and that anyone who is ill gets better very soon.

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 18/11/2007 11:36

Had a lie in this morning...WAY HEY, get the bunting out!

Ed typed his 1st word(awh, modern parenting huh? He can't write/draw but he can type )

I've tried to apply for a Tesco card to up our points and the site can't process it

Got to pop to see one of Ed's friends, it was his 4th b'day yesterday

Feel like being well lazy today, bet it won't happen

Oodlesandludasoftinsel · 18/11/2007 13:40

Actually I miss counted...its 12...and currently only 10, as number 11 is due on the 19th dec and number 12 is due after xmas (both boys too...both SIL's are pregnant)

Oh and 2 of them aren't actually under 8, they are 17 and 14...but TBH they are even harder to buy for! so they both get vouchers this year.
So not entirely as bad as I made out

I have also bought for friends and their children, I sometimes feel friends can mean something entirely different to family, and therefore I want to buy a gift for them rather than have to buy (IYSWIM) so I don't begrudge doing that. (that sounds terrible doesn't it! but you know I have actually spoken to my brother once this year, and not received a single b'day card or phone call all year from him, for me or the kids, and it grates a bit as I never miss a b'day and have left several messages throughout the year)

But anyway...rant over!

Well weather is crapola here...I'm currently half doing the washing, and listening to my xmas hits cd (can you tell DH is at work!)
