Siemens, Bosch or Samsung dishwasher?

Asvan · 30/03/2021 11:09

I'm looking to buy my first dishwasher and have been researching for a long time. I have narrowed it down to the following:

ao.com/product/dw60r7040fs-samsung-series-7-standard-dishwasher-silver-76657-23.aspx

ao.com/product/dw60r7040fs-samsung-series-7-standard-dishwasher-silver-76657-23.aspx

ao.com/product/sms46ii01g-bosch-serie-4-standard-dishwasher-stainless-steel-68126-23.aspx

The siemens one comes with a 5 year warranty and is a lot over my budget but will it be worth it in the long run? I can stretch to paying extra for a quality product which will last.

Anyone who owns any of these your opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Apparently bosch is a fabulous make can't offer any other advice I'm afraid.

greycloudysky · 30/03/2021 22:55

I have a Bosch which I can't fault. It's one that was built in Germany which are meant to be the better ones. They come with free two year warranty but you can add additional warranty if you are concerned.

KingAndQueen · 30/03/2021 22:56

Bosch

mynameiscalypso · 30/03/2021 22:57

Our Bosch has just broken after 8 years - no problem up until now and it gets heavily used. We've got a new one just waiting to be installed because we're happy enough with the make.

Asvan · 30/03/2021 23:21

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I'd narrowed it down to the Siemens or the Bosch but I think I will go with the Bosch now. The Siemens did have a cutlery tray instead of basket which seems more user friendly but I can live without it I guess, especially if it means a big saving.

Are Siemens products good??

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 30/03/2021 23:22

No issues with Siemens after 9 years of use.

DramaAlpaca · 30/03/2021 23:22

I've had two Bosch dishwashers. One lasted 18 years, the current one is 8 years old. I'd recommend.

CausingChaos2 · 30/03/2021 23:23

Another vote for Bosch. Mine was bought second hand 5 years ago and is still going strong. I actually prefer a cutlery basket so I can take it to the draw to put away.

SallyOMalley · 30/03/2021 23:25

Bosch here too! Go for it :)

Cookerhood · 30/03/2021 23:27

We have just replaced our 14 year old Bosch with a Serie 4. It's great, not as quiet as advertised, but fine. We wanted a Serie 6 but there was some kind of weird dishwasher shortage in January.

Asvan · 30/03/2021 23:31

Yes there is still a dishwasher shortage going on so I have very limited options.

Will the 13 place settings be ok for a family of 5? I would most likely use it once a day.

Also why is Siemens much more expensive? If Bosch is better? The main reason I was considering it was because of the 5 year warranty.

Those of you with Bosch, which model do you recommend?

OP posts:
greycloudysky · 31/03/2021 11:42

Mine is slimline serie 6. There's one on Amazon which has a five year warranty. It's full size and has 14 place settings. I would hunt around for a cheaper model, or wait for the sales. That's what I would go for though.

EventuallyDistracted · 31/03/2021 11:52

Ours is a Bosch with cutlery drawer, I hate the drawer, it makes you lose too much height for big plates or tall glasses in the racks below and the cutlery doesn't clean very well compared to our old basket dishwasher. The pump broke after about 5 years, the engineer said this is quite common, it cost £200 to repair. Not sure how much I'd recommend it TBH.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 31/03/2021 15:00

Our Bosh was 9 years old when it broke. It was very reliable.

We now have a meile. But I would have been happy with another Bosh.

Cookerhood · 31/03/2021 21:28

Ours is a Serie 4, I'm not sure what model. It was literally all that was available in January. It's an integrated one. Our previous one lasted 14 years with never a hiccup (heavy use with a family of 5 too).

Tronkmanton · 31/03/2021 21:54

We’ve got the BOSCH in your link- with cutlery basket as I can’t stand trays. Ours is only about a year old so can’t comment on longevity but I really like it. Only gripe is that it leaves some things quite wet so we always use the extra dry setting, otherwise it’s excellent. I sold my very expensive but completely useless Fisher & Paykel dishdrawer to buy it and haven’t regretted it. It washes very well, nothing ever has to go round again and it fits loads in. We’re a family of four and it goes on about once a day. It’s very quiet too which is great. We easily installed it ourselves too which is saying something as we’re useless at DIY!

moochingtothepub · 31/03/2021 22:07

I've had various, they all seem to break after 5 years so buy a cheap one. Ours is Beko

RoseMartha · 31/03/2021 22:07

My bosch is 11 years old. And still in good working order. I use it almost everyday.

Asvan · 01/04/2021 01:15

Thanks everyone. It's interesting to see how many Bosch recommendations there are.

Has anyone had any experience of using the Siemens 5 yr warranty?

As someone with an 18 month old washing machine from Samsung that's been waiting 2 weeks for a repair........ I'd avoid the make like the plague.

We've got a Bosch dishwasher (integrated type). It's OK, but is very temperamental with our Denby plates, and seems to need a lot of maintenance. And the Eco cycle is horrendous - takes around 4 hours, and DH keeps using it by mistakeHmm. We had a Miele before that was far superior, and the cutlery tray in it was a godsend as the basket types seem to take up so much more space on the lower basket.

DarlingCoffee · 04/04/2021 20:41

The man who fit our dishwasher said Bosch was the best in his opinion, for what it’s worth!

bouncydog · 05/04/2021 14:13

Bosch, Neff and Siemens are all part of the same Group. Siemens are top end. I would go for Bosch. Our first ever dishwasher was a Bosch. Had to be replace£ after c15 years as a part was no longer available. We now have a Neff which is fantastic, with a cutlery tray but will be more expensive than the Bosch. I would avoid Samsung as although the brand is becoming more popular not convinced of quality. AEG might also be worth a look?
