Not the DIY versions.

If you get professionally cleaned - how often?

I get them done once a year, after winter. Absolutely love it after done! Wondering if excessive to have done twice a year!

Surely it’s logical

If you know you’ve got o clean hard floors, and not just hoover, then the same applies to carpets?

The only difference is hard floors tend to get a regular cleaning Ie weekly mop, where as carpets, the dirt tends to get ingrained into the fibres as it’s walked in, and be less visible, and cleaning is less regular ie annually or so.

It’s six of one, half a dozen of the other, But everything in your house needs cleaning at some point.

Ive just paid £55 to have my lounge and dining room carpets cleaned...dining room carpet had a full cup of coffee spilt on it last year...lounge carpet had tea and coffee and very grubby....both carpets look like new...very impressed.

Never, but nobody is allowed past the entrance hall without taking off shoes as only barbarians wear shoes indoors.

Newpotplants · 12/03/2021 19:39

What is HSS please? Not that I've never cleaned my carpets...🤦

Many thanks!

@Newpotplants we hired one for Xmas after the builder finished. Did the lounge carpet three times to get it clean (well we did have it for the week.... And the plaster dust was still falling)

Shock cripes!

I'm waiting for the sarcastic person to come and say 'every weekend and twice a week over Christmas, those who don't are disgusting' Grin

It really doesn’t. Even with no shoes on carpeted areas they get dirty. Carpets need cleaning, dirt gets ground in when you walk on them that no hoover can touch. Honestly even with no shoes you need to clean your carpets. Guarantee you’ll be amazed at the dirt that comes out

It's not dirt that comes out, it's dust. Just like the stuff you get on your duster, if you wash the duster, it is grey. Hoovering is sufficient, same as dusting. It's just skin and hair.

I've never cleaned our carpets or rugs, and if you put your nose right up against them and smell, they smell of wool.

To the pp who said it's like not washing your hair, it really isn't. Carpets do not exude sebum, they just collect dust.

Unless there was a massive spill then never

PanamaPattie · 21/03/2021 15:07

Never. We don't wear shoes in the house so why would the carpet need cleaning?

For all those who say they are a no shoes house - so are we. I clean my carpets about once a month. Nice photo
