Do you wash your hands after hoovering?

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 28/02/2021 16:39

We have a difference of opinion here and I'd like some perspective please.

Big hoover is kept in the cupboard under the stairs.

Little rechargeable hoover, for a quick blast around the kitchen floor, is kept on the wall in the utility room.

Should we wash our hands are hoovering with either, neither or both?

TIA

Neither. Why would your hoovers be particularly dirty?

Serenschintte · 28/02/2021 16:42

Neither.

Kroptopbelly · 28/02/2021 16:42

Erm.
Is this a trick question?
I’m not sure why you would, it’s a plastic sealed unit.

whenwillthemadnessend · 28/02/2021 16:42

No unless I've Emptied it and it's dusty

Tibtab · 28/02/2021 16:43

I wouldn’t wash my hands after hoovering

Neolara · 28/02/2021 16:43

Neither

OddBoots · 28/02/2021 16:43

I do but only because I empty the vacuum into the outside dustbin after I have used it and I wash my hands after touching the bin.

sycamorescrumptious · 28/02/2021 16:43

Both, but I wash my hands a lot!

Notgotanyidea · 28/02/2021 16:43

Yes, but thinking about it I don’t know why really

MagdasMadHouse · 28/02/2021 16:43

I always do.

Worrywobbles · 28/02/2021 16:44

Neither!

HelloDulling · 28/02/2021 16:44

I don’t.

Notgotanyidea · 28/02/2021 16:45

I also find it odd to not wash hands after touching a bin, or putting a washing machine/dishwasher on.

TheOpportuneMoment · 28/02/2021 16:45

Only if I've emptied it and potentially had to touch the inside/dusty bit. Otherwise it's just an object the same as hundreds of others around the house, you'd never stop washing your hands if you had to do it every time you touched anything you owned!

Blerg · 28/02/2021 16:45

Yes. Just because feels like I should, and would sometimes be dusting at the same time.

Elieza · 28/02/2021 16:51

I always do wash my hands after hoovering, as I empty the hoover in the bin so I will have touched the manky bin lid in order to open it. So my hands could have bin juice on them. Yuk.

Plus I’d have touched my keys and the door handle to get out/in to/from the wheelie bin, and the last time id have touched those was when I was coming in from the weekly shop so they could potentially have some virus on them from the shop. Although I washed my hands for 20 seconds on return from shopping and wiped my goods, I didn’t wash the keys/handle. I ‘know’ they are ‘dirty’! I don’t touch them and wash hands if I do.

To those of you who don’t wash your hands, would you prepare food like that ie how clean do you feel your hands are?

Wannabegreenfingers · 28/02/2021 16:53

No

sanityisamyth · 28/02/2021 16:53

You wash your hands every time you put the washing machine and dishwasher on? Why?!

Fuckingcrustybread · 28/02/2021 16:54

I would never wash my hands after using the vacuum cleaner. I always wash my hands before preparing food, depending on the food I would wash my hands during preparation. For example if I touch raw meat,

Thefamilybusiness · 28/02/2021 16:54

No, neither.

Moondust001 · 28/02/2021 16:55

The rechargeable one. But only because I have still not mastered the "easy empty" feature that easily empties at least some of it on my hands!

Mumdiva99 · 28/02/2021 16:55

@Elieza are.you my husband in disguise? No...because he would have wiped the door handle with an antibacterial wipe after touching it....

Would I prepare food like this....hell yeah....a few germs on your hands will not kill you. (Yes I have been more.caitious than usual over the last year.....and I wash when coming home.....but I am not getting into the territory of.washing my hands a.million times inside my home. And I am well, and I don't suffer from it.)

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 28/02/2021 16:56

If i have emptied bagless dust, then yes.

M0nstermunch · 28/02/2021 16:57

I dont wash my hands after hovering, only if its needed to be emptied.

Bigoldmachine · 28/02/2021 17:00

Yes but only because I will have pulled dust and hair out of the brush bit, I just feel cleaner if I wash my hands after.

Btw I am not a germ-phobe nor am I even very tidy!
