Well, I have no-one at the moment, but up until 2 and a half years ago, I was in Sussex and my window cleaner cleaned about 11 windows for £9. He was a lovely man - used to enjoy chatting to him - but I don't think he did every window, eg not sure he did the loo window, window around the door etc. That was my only (minor) gripe.

Where are you that you are charged £40?

nettie · 02/11/2007 11:26

£2.50 once a fortnight!

Where are you?

Do you live in a greenhouse?

GunpowderDragonsAndSoup · 02/11/2007 11:27

£5 for front 5 on 1930s semi

rantinghousewife · 02/11/2007 11:27

£12 and I have a conservatory.
40 quid is a rip off, do you live in a mansion?

GunpowderDragonsAndSoup · 02/11/2007 11:27

Extra £5 if I want the back set done.

PestoPyromaniacMonster · 02/11/2007 11:30

We have 11 windows and 2 large patio doors and our window cleaner charges £9. I usually give him a tenner though and think it's money well spent. I love it when he comes as he's always up for a chat and he's

Well-fit!

our is £10 - that's front door glass and fanlight, 4 front windows, 6 rear and back door glass but he can't reach bathroom window

doggiesayswoof · 02/11/2007 11:33

£3.50

7 windows.

Bargain

I suspect our guy is not official or registered or whatever though.

NomDePlumeOfBonfireSmoke · 02/11/2007 11:34

Ours used to be £20 (big house) every 4th week but the cleaner wasn't doing the top floor (3 storey), despite telling us that he would when he quoted the price. We sacked him as soon as we realised (after about 4 cleans). Cheeky b*stard.

Getting a quote from a proper cleaner (not just a local oik with a bucket, rag and set of ladders) will be a scary thing. I reckon we'll be looking at over £30. Hence, I;m putting itoff

nettie · 02/11/2007 11:35

Hope mine doesn't read MN or he might be upping his prices.

doggiesayswoof · 02/11/2007 11:35

I am going to offer him more next time . I'm feeling bad for him. He cleans them well and he's a v nice wee guy.

royKinnear · 02/11/2007 11:35

i do have one room with a lot of windows...a bit like a conserb=vatory or half one

OP posts:
doggiesayswoof · 02/11/2007 11:36

ConnorTraceptive · 02/11/2007 11:39

£15 for 4 bed detached house with conservatory

NomDePlumeOfBonfireSmoke · 02/11/2007 11:40

doggies, local oik was the one ripping us off ! And he used the same dirty bucket of water and filthy chamois house after house.

ShinyHappyRocketsGoingBANG · 02/11/2007 11:41

£40?? We used to pay our window cleaner £3 a time!! But then we did live in a small council house on a crappy council esate up North...

I would never have a window cleaner now. I just leave them.. and if I can't see through them I clean them (or DH does usually..) I have enough problem keeping on top of the housework.. windows are pretty irrelvant to me. Nobody's going to did of botulism due to dirty windows! (Yes I'm a house slut.)

But more the point, window cleaners bring to mind my friend's classic experience whereby she was caught by the window cleaner who came a day earlier than usual, while she was pleasuring herself in bed in the afternoon! She has those type of nets that go up in the middle so no chance he didn't notice!

royKinnear · 02/11/2007 11:43

three six paned bays
six other little square things with tiny square thigs 9 x12 above

Did she live in a bungalow? I only ask because normally you would hear the ladder going up against the wall if you were upstairs.

No she doesn't live in a bungalow. I have no idea why she didn't hear.. perhaps she was lost in the moment .. but I don't disbelieve her. She isn't the type of person to make that kind of thing up. She hasn't faced him for months. She leaves the money on the step for him.
