Washing powder scoops - why are they like rocking horse shit

Hi!

I recently bought some surf washing powder, and I can't believe there's no scoop in the box!

I've looked on ebay and amazon and nowhere has the dosing jug. I've seen you can go on supersavvyme and order one but the link's I've found don't work.

What do you use to dose your washing powder properly?

I just use the silicon Persil colour measure which is about 60 ml, I did get a proper little measuring jug thing with one lot of powder but DH pinched it to measure his porridge milk, I don't use powder that often though

Just as an ' add on ' .The dose the manufacturer wants you to use is the maximum to keep you buying the product.
Try using 50% of what they suggest and just add a little more if your washing needs more. I live in a soft water area and easily use 50% less.

The Costco ones come with a scoop but you have to put the powder in the drum not the drawer, and the scoop can't survive a 40 wash, so you have to throw it in and extract in a way I have proved singularly unable to do without throwing the powder all over the floor as well. So I'm using a Persil ball.

I use the scoops from Vanish - but they are massive - so just use half a scoop.

It works for Vanish - I buy it for the scoop Smile

I got mine free in a tub of stain remover.

Probably my saddest post every but I spent quite a while on new year's Day trying to source a free one without any joy!

TheMandalorian · 02/01/2021 19:44

I use a vanish scoop. Or the person liquid balls which I collected a few of until moving to powder. Haven't had to clean the washer drawer since.

I use a little sand play spade, kids aren't into digging the (muddy) sand in the playground anymore. It is just the right size and very handy to use as I don't get powder on my hands, and can scoop into the corners of an almost empty box.

@BackforGood

Why not just continue to use the one from the last time you had one in a box Confused

Not that I've "measured" powder other than 'by eye' , ever.

This is the first time I've used powder in years.

My first two packs were scoopless and I've been putting it in the drawer!

Coffee scoop. Not sure why we’ve got a spare but we do. I don’t know what the recommended dose is, just bung as many scoops in as I think it warrants.

Livpool · 03/01/2021 10:51

I had the same thing but found an old Vanish scoop int he laundry cupboard

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 03/01/2021 12:36

I didn’t realise they were such precious rarities! I’ll treasure my old Persil one now Grin

dementedpixie · 03/01/2021 12:43

Think mine is from persil too. Its pale blue

Bluntness100 · 03/01/2021 12:44

I use a small expresso cup. Just find something the right size and use it.
