Washing powder scoops - why are they like rocking horse shit

Hi!

I recently bought some surf washing powder, and I can't believe there's no scoop in the box!

I've looked on ebay and amazon and nowhere has the dosing jug. I've seen you can go on supersavvyme and order one but the link's I've found don't work.

What do you use to dose your washing powder properly?

Is there a number on the box to call?

Plonque · 02/01/2021 16:33

I haven't had a free one in a tub for years, they must not do them anymore? I buy the biggest bulk boxes.
I have an old one that is many years old but when it took itself for a walk for a time I used a measuring cup, you know the interlocking spoon type ones - one of the smaller sized ones. Well, I never needed it for baking the whole time I used it for powder!

Chasingsquirrels · 02/01/2021 16:35

I use an old measuring cup, can't remember what size - probably 1/2 cup as the bigger on is in the bread flour.

FATEdestiny · 02/01/2021 16:38

I use a shot glass

clary · 02/01/2021 16:41

I use an IKEA plastic cup.

Best not to drink out of it later tho 😂😂

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 02/01/2021 16:43

I use an old ice cream scoop

Cynderella · 02/01/2021 16:43

You can buy sets of measuring spoons in pound shops or cheaply elsewhere - I use mine for lots of things, but rarely when cooking. Just use one that suits - we use more powder than when we lived in a soft water area.

LooseMooseHoose · 02/01/2021 16:47

We got ours free from the powder manufacturers website... Ariel was our powder one I think. And we ordered a free liquid doser from Persil.

ShaunaTheSheep · 02/01/2021 16:47

I use a dosing ball that came with a liquid detergent ages ago.

HennyLenry · 02/01/2021 17:05

I have emailed using the link provided above, thank you! :)

I know this doesn't help but I like it as it's a million fewer pieces of plastic floating around the earth as you really only need one in your lifetime Smile

Palavah · 02/01/2021 17:25

I use a chipped mug

BackforGood · 02/01/2021 17:27

Why not just continue to use the one from the last time you had one in a box Confused

Not that I've "measured" powder other than 'by eye' , ever.

dementedpixie · 02/01/2021 17:29

I have never ever seen one in a box for many many years. I'm assuming OP was using liquid before and hence doesn't have a scoop

NannyR · 02/01/2021 17:31

I use an old yoghurt pot, I weigh out the amount you need (it tells you the dose on the box) then draw a line in the yoghurt pot with a sharpie - a homemade measuring scoop.

magicstar1 · 02/01/2021 17:37

I use an old mug too

Twobrews · 02/01/2021 17:37

I'm on my third pack of Costco washing powder and was delighted to find a scoop in this box! Previously I used the lid of an old Lenor bottle.

My parents have a dosing ball from the nineties, it's probably one of the only things both me and my sister want to inherit Grin

RaisedbySloths · 02/01/2021 17:41

Lid from empty fabric conditioner does the job.

LadyShrek2k19 · 02/01/2021 17:41

I requested one from persil and they sent it (free) in the post.
Otherwise, a scoop and a half from a bag of protein powder!

Doublechins · 02/01/2021 17:48

I bought two scoops for £1 in B&M.

Use one for washing powder and one for dog food. Haven't seen scoops in packs for years and presumed it was to cut back on plastic?

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 02/01/2021 17:50

I’ve got an old one that just passes from box to box too but it could easily get binned if someone else (DH or one of the kids) threw the empty box away without thinking.

Madbengalmum · 02/01/2021 17:51

Dementedpixie, thanks have just ordered a scoop.

Nowmum43 · 02/01/2021 17:52

@clary

I use an IKEA plastic cup.

Best not to drink out of it later tho 😂😂

This is exactly what I use Grin
chesterfuckingdraws · 02/01/2021 18:42

I use a wee scoop thing I got in a stain remover....2scoops (it's a small scoop!) is perfect for a wash.

Don't do what DH did.....we used a Tupperware tub to take washing powder on holiday and DH took his soup to work in it on his return 🤮 😄😄
