A stylish butter dish

Can you find me one? They all seem a bit clunky and easily chipped.

Green is my kitchen colourway.

Not all greens are the same so it's a tricky challenge! Try the green porcelain butter keeper with wooden lid on Amazon: it's more a dish than a plate with a cover so less likely to get damaged.

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 30/12/2020 09:52

I love this one.

Not sure how sturdy it would be though.

Loads of stunning Jade milk glass examples in America, but not so easy to find here.

domesticslattern · 30/12/2020 09:55

This one isn't clunky, though it would be £27 which is quite a lot.

Not cheap, I know, but I love my Le Creuset one. Had it for years and never damaged it. Easy to use and goes in the dishwasher.

Twobrews · 30/12/2020 10:14

What kind of butter dish do you prefer?
I only like the ones where the butter goes in a dish with sides and has a flat lid. They seem harder to find than the plate with a lid that has sides.

DoingItForTheKid · 30/12/2020 11:46

You guys are good!

Sage green here. I like lid with sides on flatter dish.

Must be dishwasher proof too.

I love LSA. Would the wood lid be OK in dishwasher

My stylish butter dish is stainless steel Wink

Pinkstump · 30/12/2020 12:23

I have an enamel one like this. It's dishwasher safe (not sure about the lid but that never really gets dirty anyway), durable, sylish, fab all round 😁

domesticslattern · 30/12/2020 13:10

I have the LSA one OP.
I was initially a bit suspicious about the wooden lid as it doesn't go in the dishwasher. I am a slattern as per my user name. But it takes about 30 secs once a week (or fortnight or whatever) to wash and dry it when we finish a block of butter and clean the dish. It is going strong and hasn't split or gone smelly.

FrogFairy · 30/12/2020 13:26

This is an old thread about butter dishes which has some lovely ones on...

We have a Le Creuset one, bought in a sale.

HouseyHouse21 · 30/12/2020 18:55

I got a Kilner glass one recently - I like that I can see how much butter I have left without opening it up. Not fancy, but functional!

topcat2014 · 30/12/2020 18:58

Please talk to me about butter dishes. We use various spreads day to day but I bought actual butter to make brandy butter.

If you have a butter dish is the idea it doesn't go in the fridge?

Whiteclaw · 30/12/2020 19:02

Currently out of stock, but I have one of these and love it. Sturdy, goes with anything and a complete bargain

Ginfordinner · 30/12/2020 19:09

I have this Le Creuset one bought in TK Maxx for about £12

Honeywort · 30/12/2020 19:12

I love the Alessi butter boat - I cut a block of butter in half lengthwise and it fits perfectly. Goes in top rack of dishwasher too.

DoingItForTheKid · 31/12/2020 11:07

Wow, that's a huge prior thread!

I think Creuset in Rosemary wins for me.

Thanks all.

I am looking at a Oliver Bonas Passaro Leaf Green Ceramic Butter Dish.

OHolyTights · 01/01/2021 13:29

I hope this doesn't lead to a Le Creuset addiction, OP. You're not truly a MNetter till you've got one, you know. I'm thinking we should start a support group. Xmas Wink

I never did get round to buying the Anthrologie Eris round dish from that other thread and now it's gone.

Whitney168 · 01/01/2021 14:21

I want the lovely round butter dishes that I think both @aurora12digits and @cornberry had on that other thread.

Ninkanink · 01/01/2021 14:28

I was going to recommend Le Creuset.👍👍
