Good morning all

Morning Jas and thanks for the thread.

I'm going to finish my brekkie and get cracking.

Jas · 20/10/2007 09:01

Yaddayah - another 10 days wait is a very long time I just hope they get the right part then.

Bianca - Have a lovely weekend away.

FGS - Beaustiful as a princess is lovely. I have no wedding pics, but the dds are fascinated to see the bridesmaid dress I wore for my bfs wedding. Luckily it still (almost) fitsso I can dress up with themsometimes (They don't see me in a dress at all very often!)

Grouchy I hope you feel able to just leave some of the work today and have a rest, then play with your ds a bit

SMS I'd quite like the task of spennding £100 on a meal out, even though it wouldn't be that easy here either.. Alcohol is definitely the way to go, unless you can invite a couple of friends and treat them too.

Hello everyone else I hope we all have a nice weekend.

The sun is shining here, and I have no plans at all for the weekend.
Any ideas?

Hi Jas. As for ideas, we're going to walk the dog in a mo. The choice is the beach or the mountains. 10 mins drive for the former, 20 mins drive for the latter. Does that help at all?

Ruby Fab keyboard!

Afternoon All

Doing beggar all today, got to focus on going out tonight and hiding in the pub loos so I don't jinks the rugby.

If a televised match matters I can't watch it. I blame Micky Thomas when he played for Arsenal. Destroyed my ability to appreciate televised sport.

If we loose you do know it will be entirely my fault don't you.

yaddayah · 20/10/2007 15:53

Am in another grump

sigh

Going to friends to watch the rugby tonight and dh has just ever so casually mentioned that MIL is going along too

Errrr why ?

Call me a cow but I don't particularly want to socialise with her .. I see her every other day as it is

Gah !

House a mess

I don't care

spookybatoscar · 20/10/2007 16:16

Oscar...here to provide you with cheer

TheMadScaryHouse · 20/10/2007 17:48

Ruby Wow you have done well with the Chistmas shopping. I have started, but need to wait for DH to be paid to try and finish - we are on a very very tight budget with me not working

I have managed to clean out the fridge this sfternoon while the boys have been watching TV with their daddy and playing Bob.

Come on England!!!!

Yadda I so know where you are coming from, but with me it is my mum. I had to show my face at family night out last night - Mum, 3 auntys and uncles and partners and 3 cousins and partners - Pah and I can not get out of it as it was at the club my bro and SIL run.

I am feeling a bit under the weather, but hoping that a goods night sleep will help.

Simply · 20/10/2007 20:07

In reverse order:-

TMSH Well done for cleaning out the fridge. I did one of my fridges a week or so ago (which bright spark thought that a small under the counter fridge and the same for a freezer would suffice in a 4 bedroomed home? I've got a fridge/freezer as well. Idiot property developer!) I hope you have a good sleep tonight.

sbo I agree with yadda. It's extremely annoying having someone make you smile when you're doing your best to be in a sulk!

yadda We chose the mountains! Dd said that as the dog had a long walk on the beach (in the dark!) last night, she'd want a change of scenery.

Oh, Ruby Ruby Ruby [sorry, am really silly after just one glass of wine!] I haven't done any! Ds' b/d is to be got through first and that is a few wks away and I haven't bought a thing for that, either!
Tell you what, once dh returns from abroad - update, as of a couple of hours ago he was still uneaten by bears! - I'll sit him down with a list and we'll decide who we need to buy for and what. I'll then report back to you and I'll give you full permission to give me a telling off if I don't start shopping. N.B. As luda says, she lives in the ar&e end of nowhere and I live about 35 mins away from her, so I do have a good excuse! I will be travelling during the half term hols, though, and I should be able to get it all done then.

Right. I'm going to crack on now. I have to confess that I find myself admiring my bedroom curtains now that I've taken them down, bleached them to get rid of the mould from the condensation on the windows, sewn the broken threads and re-hung them. Sad or what?

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 20/10/2007 20:13

Hi Guys.

I have done Christmas shopping for DDs but not for DH and half of my family. Not doing too badly though. I have also worked out that I have money to spend on clubcard, nectar, advantage card and in paypal so hope that most of my gifts will come off those.

TheMadScaryHouse · 20/10/2007 20:23

Simply SNAP - We have an under counter fridge and then a freezer (4 bed house). we also have a fridge freezer in the garage.

I think I shopping list would be good for Christmas, but I have also got DH birthday before it and also mine 5 days before.

Still all hot and bothered, but am going to join DH in the lounge watching the rugby

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 20/10/2007 20:36

we have an integral fridge & freezer and have another in the garage as they are too small.

TheMadScaryHouse · 20/10/2007 20:38

House deigners must all me bloddy useless men then!

TheMadScaryHouse · 20/10/2007 20:38

Bloody [oops emotion]

ScaryMonsterStories · 20/10/2007 21:14

Good evening...not been on all day as I have been a busy bee (or should that be Fly ?)

I have:

Spent 1hr 45 mins convincing 2 children to get dressed, do hair, put shoes on & get in car
Been to butchers to get a lovely turkey breast joint for DP to lovingly roast tomorrow [yum]
Been to Tesco & spent £60 on nothing
Done about 3 loads of washing
Put the washing away which has been accumulating for a week and a half (don't know how that happened )
Swept DD3s lunch off conservatory floor
Cleaned and put cover on DD3s new (was DTDs) carseat and installed in car
Hovered car inside (before doing carseat)
Cleaned all glass in car (well DP did this actually but it is gleaming and hopefully will not mist up as easily)
Tidied garden toys up properly for next year
Various other bits and bobs
Swept DD3s tea up off conservatory floor

Feels like a very productive day

Jas how was the beach/mountains?
Yaddah PITA about washing machine...I would be lost as I don't know anyone local enough well enough to groevl for a couple of loads.

Oh and I think I will still get change from a 3 course meal, bottle of wine + Taxi home....still wherever we go and however much we spend will be a nice meal out

Simply · 20/10/2007 22:26

In reverse order again (I flip the thread and then scroll to see who has posted since my last post):-

SMS It was me with the beach and mountains. I counted over 30 red kites and there was far more than that when they came at feeding time. That was the mountains. I was ashamed of myself on the beach last night tbh. It was so beautiful and I was only there because I had to walk the dog, dh being away. The stars were so clear, I could spot the saucepan (sorry, I don't know the right names) and the plough and lots of others I didn't know the names of. And when I saw the moon lighting up a round circle of the sea close to the shore I thought "Why have I lived here so many years and not realised how beautiful it is before?" I'll go back with the kids and dh soon.

Right. One more game of chess (you can tell it is the w/e as I've had about 4 games already!) and then I'm off to bed. Nos da pawb.

TMSH It was, indeed, a man! Sorry the rugby didn't go your way. There'll be lots of discussion about the whatyoumacallit (the bit where they ought to have scored points but it wasn't allowed) won't there? Can you tell that I don't like rugby? I've seen a few nasty injuries and I don't want ds to want to play the game any more than he absolutely has to although he likes most sports. Sigh.

Funky That's the word, isn't it? Integral. Strangely enough, the two houses I grew up in didn't have a fridge in the kitchen so I'm used to having to walk to the next room. It was lack of space in both instances. There is no such excuse in this kitchen, there is plenty of room. I just have to wait another 10 yrs or so for the kitchen to be really dated to warrant having a new one. Tbh, I think we're likely to move house around or before then, though.

ScaryMonsterStories · 20/10/2007 23:06

sorry simply (and Jas)

Jas · 21/10/2007 06:27

Good morning everyone

That's ok SMS. I wish I had mountains or beach to chose from. It's Epping Forest or the local play park here I chose neither, and instead allowed the dds to play out, and invite assorted local children in to play here. DP hates getting up to find exta children in the house, so I tend not to let them at the w/e but he got up early and went to work for most of the day.
I also spent £60 in Tesco, but hopefuly that is my weeks food taken care of, so not too bad.

Our kitchen was old and in need of replacing when we bought the house ten years ago Maybe oe day.....

Ruby - I am nowhere near 1/2 way on the Christmas shopping, but have finally done the list of who to buy for and discovered that I've got presents for most of the chldren I need to buy for (except my dds)but am lacking with regard to adult presents.
You have also reminded me I was going to make Christmas cards this week with the dds. I will get some stuff out today.

Are you responsible for global warming and the middle east too Oscar or just bad sports results? DP had the rugby on and didn't notice when I turned it over 15 mins before the end to watch the other side. Thats how interested in sport he is.

ds has beeen up for an hour and I've done nothing except drink tea so far. My kitchen is freezing and I won't go in thereunless I have to, whih will be when the dds wake up, so I'm going to attempt the reading club book for a bit.

Morning all

I didn't manage to get on here at all yesterday, was feeling a bit ill, and all 3 of the kids have hacking coughs, snots and bad tempers

Food shopping day today....dh has very kindly offered to have all the kids so I can go on my own (I swear if I had to take them all I would finally pop)

I bought myself a new pair of jeans and 2 new jumpers. I have very few clothes, and not very many winter things at all so they cheered me up no end.

I also went on Ebay last night....I have bought a Silicone Baking Tray! Never even heard of them before...DH thinks they are likely to give us all some awful disease...all that silicone but they look very practical to me. They don't rust, warp, they are d/w safe and freezer safe...(TBH they do sound a bit too good to be true don't they )

Does anyone here have any Silicone Bakeware?
I'd love to know how you get on with it if you do

Lost the rugby
I actually sat up with DH to watch it. Simply I think you are right....it was definately a Try for England and fans will be discussing it for a while I expect. DH reckons it is all to do with the fact the ref was Australian...and we knocked the Aussies out didn't we. I'm sure its not that calculated but it is annoying never the less. Rugby is such a gentleman's sport...all the commentators just said..never mind, the decision was made, lets move on...If that was football the players would have been kicking off I expect!

Well I have rambled on for far too long...kids are all moaning and snotting all over the place so I had better get off and wipe some noses (NICE!)

xx
