ooooh hello Harley How the devil are you?

simply I know the feeling, having such a lovely place on your door step but not really appreciating it. When our friends came to stay last week we took them to the castle, and then down along the sea front to the verticular railway. it was lovely, and I remember thinking..Gosh, I don't do this often enough.

jas our kitchen sounds very similar, but as we rent, we can't do very much about it (not that we could afford to anyway)Infact there are several things I want to get rid of (like the living room carpet...I hate it, and the bright orange teracotta wallpaper, curtains and carpet in our bedroom ... yuk)
We did actually give the kids rooms a coat of paint when we first moved in, but as for the rest it would cost a small fortune so we haven't touched it.

ludaghoul · 21/10/2007 09:15

Well I have been sat here all morning so far
After starting a thread on silicone bakeware, I'm convinced it is the way forward. I have also heard that Lidls have it in store at the mo....bonus! I'm going there today!

Anyway...I really should get on now...two out of three kids have dressed themselves! I need to have a wash and get dressed too....and get dh out of bed so I can go and shop.

BFN xx

Hello harley luda I have fed the children, and dd2 is in thebath. I have dyed my hair (red again) but that is it. I have dps friend coming to look at our wiring so he can redo it soon.
When I look aroun at the amount of stuff that needs doing here, I sometimes wish I was renting, but I know our mortgage is not as high as the rent for a similar house round here, and I look at it as evolving. It is an old house and thingschange slowly.(Well they do on our budget, anyway)

my sink is still shiny

Minum · 21/10/2007 09:58

I need a kick to get going - sitting here feeling v miserable about rugby, when I should be packing for hols in a few hours, and leaving the house in a fit state to come back to, and making sure DS1 finishes his homework before we go.

Simply · 21/10/2007 10:10

Just a quick post to Minum to say:- get going - the more you leave it the worse it gets! (I hate packing for hols, too. My sympathies.)

I'm quickly mending a school top before putting a load of washing on and was reading the thread as I sewed (a simple seam coming undone - nothing fancy). I'll be back to post again later.

TheMadScaryHouse · 21/10/2007 10:17

Luda I have a teddy one have not used it yet, so let me know how you get on
Jas Oh with the red. I am bottle blond and my cousin who is a hairdresser said I should so dark again!!!!

Hello
We got back from hols on Friday. had a fantastic time. Caravan was great. Didn't want to come home! lol!

DS's are at their dads until Monday.
DD1 was sick a few times last night . Seems fine and happy today. Hopefully it wasn't a bug. [worried emoticon] Amazing how quickly they bounce back.

Hope everyone is well and all is ok.
Still no Modem for Broadband. Will be around more once its sorted.

TheMadScaryHouse · 21/10/2007 20:18

Evening all - boys are tucked up in bed and I should be ironing, but can not be bothered - Ha

Simply · 21/10/2007 20:22

Just a quickie. Dd needs me to cover her book with that sticky cover stuff.

TMSH I need to do mine, too. I'll do half an hour's worth once I've got the kids off to bed (in about half an hour) and I'll come back and you and I can compare notes on how much we've done. Deal?

Hi tort. Good to see you. I hope your dd1 is feeling much better now and no-one else gets it.

Must dash. See you later.

Oh ***. It didn't work.

OP posts:
Simply · 21/10/2007 21:07

TMSH I've just got the kids off to bed. Do we really have to start ironing now? I better had if I want clean, ironed clothes for work tomorrow.

Jas I'm not sure what you wanted it to look like, but that's a good list you've got there.

Best get this ironing under way. Oh, did I say that I took the kids swimming earlier and I did between 24 and 30 lengths! It's hard to believe that a few years ago I had ME and found the stairs and getting dressed or showered such a struggle.

Jas · 21/10/2007 21:16

I wanted Tues, Thurs and Sat in a seperate colum. I've changed it back to a huge long list now.

Simply Did the ME get better on its own, or did you do something to help? (Only asking as my friend suffers and I'm always interested)

OP posts:
Simply · 21/10/2007 21:48

Ah, right Jas. The ME got better by itself, sorry, I can't give any tips other than to try to accept help to keep the house (and other areas of your life that you're not giving attention to as you used to now you've got ME) ticking over so that it's not so overwhelmingly b awful and depressing. i.e. if someone is willing to tackle your huge ironing pile, let them, seeing it drags you down. If someone is willing to make you a sandwich for lunch and bring it round or a casserole, let them. You can get very fed up living on cereal, toast, cheese on toast, beans on toast, yogurt and fruit i.e. anything dead simple to make and eat. Number 1 tip, accept help and don't worry about people seeing you when you feel dreadful both physically and mentally. Hth.

Ok. I popped out here to get some more water for the iron. I do hope you are ironing too, TMSH.

Simply · 21/10/2007 22:50

TMSH I've just finished ironing. Have you done any or did you not come back and see my posts after your last post? (Please feel free to tell a little white lie if you've done none whilst I have been hard at it since 9.15pm or whatever time it was!)
