Anyone using Freddie's Flowers or similar?

Just curious.
I'm actually rebuilding my life after domestic abuse and a mental breakdown. Trying to introduce totally new positive things into my life as I continue to heal.

I decided to try out Freddies Flowers. Really boosted my mood and the flowers were gorgeous. Deciding whether to continue with maybe a fortnightly or monthly subscription or experiment with any of the other flower subscription companies.
What have your experiences been with flower subscriptions, if any?

@GingerNorthernLass

Is this an advert for Freddie's Flowers?!
Certainly feels like it!
longtompot · 16/01/2021 20:44

@Trying2Heal

Here’s this week’s ridiculously lush Freddies Flowers delivery. If anyone wants a totally free bunch of flowers from Freddies you can use this link:

www.freddiesflowers.com/r/AnitaW9652

If you accept the free flowers Freddies will then apparently give me 50% off a bunch of flowers myself. You get a huge bunch of free flowers and are under no obligation to them beyond accepting the freebie

Thank you! I keep looking at their ads and being tempted but thanks to your link I've now ordered a free bunch for next week. I look forward to seeing what they are like and deciding if I'll continue with them.

I’m using the rolling £20 subscription from Bloom&Wild for my mum for a year as part of her 60th birthday present. She always says they’re lovely!

justoffshift · 16/01/2021 20:56

You can use this code too for a free box on sign up! PollyR15

I moved from Freddies Flowers to Arena about 6 months ago. IMO you get better value, £5 cheaper too. The bouquets are larger but simpler.

Viviennemary · 21/01/2021 11:33

I keep seeing adverts for Freddies flowers everywhere. I woudnt have a flower subscription and that's why I wouldn't use them. They don't offer one off orders. I've ordered a few time from Bloom & Wild after reading about them on MN. I was very pleased with the flowers.,

Hoppinggreen · 22/01/2021 22:12

I asked DH to get me a flower subscription for my bday last year. I checked out Freddie’s Flowers and the reviews online weren’t very good.
He went with Bloom and Wild and although I have had only 2 deliveries so far I have been really pleased with them
And that’s from someone who doesn’t want you to use a code so I can get free flowers !!

longtompot · 23/01/2021 09:49

I had my first delivery from Freddie's flowers using your code @Trying2Heal A beautiful bunch of flowers, though the foliage of the chrysanthemums was very floppy. Might have been too cold? Anyway, I do really like them, but there is no way I can spend £25 a week for flowers. I might try and do it monthly as I am cutting down on alcohol so can use the money I would have spent on it.
I really how it was packaged, esp the chrysanthemums with little hairnets to keep the petals instant. The info leaflet on each flower and how to arrange them was nice plus tips for when they start to fade (cut the chrysanthemums to fit bud vases, plant the twisted hazel twigs outside as they will sprout).

I used to use Freddie’s, I actually opened a florists just before the lockdown so don’t need to anymore! I found the emails and website twee and cringey though.

I was really happy with them at the time but now I know my flowers more I can see they were very lily/chrysanth/Alstromeria heavy, probably because those flowers last so long. I’ve actually started my own local flower subscription service and our flowers are direct from growers in Holland so last just as long or longer than Freddie’s.

longtompot · 25/01/2021 11:30

One of the large chrysanthemums has died. I noticed the middle petals hadn't really opened up fully and it's all droopy. Such a shame as they are meant to be the stars of the bunch. I only received them Friday 🙁

@Cakes4Teatime

Madcats Which company are you using for the option that is free from lilies please?There seems to be a run of lilies in Freddie’s Flowers and I can’t see a cat safe alternative option on their site.
Just browsing the flowers faq and came across this. You can ask to have lily free bunches, just need to email them.

Thank you. I actually emailed them to ask having seen the earlier comment on here and now no longer get lillies Smile

Adding my code in case it helps anyone (and obviously me....!) I love Freddie’s Flowers, minimal plastic and in non Covid times they reuse the boxes. Bloom and Wild were not as good in my experience. My local florist is really expensive and I’ll be lucky to get a week out of them. Freddie’s is 2.5 weeks easy - a fortnightly delivery is plenty. And they are fab with any issues (of which I’ve only had one). To the chrysanthemum poster above - let them know, I’m sure they’ll put it right.

@Givemecoffeeplease - used your code, many thanks Flowers

Thanks for using my code. Hope you enjoy your flowers 💐

[quote Pineapplemonkey]I use Arena flowers, I cannot fault them in any way. I looked at Freddie’s (and others) and compared with Arena, they just didn’t look as special. You can choose the frequency and change it whenever you want. Most deliveries have been enough for 3 large vases.

I second Arena for top quality and huge boxes of flowers. They bring me joy and I gifted subscriptions to family for Christmas so they can share it. Also ethical and also only £20 per box. I tried Bloom and Wild but they were a bit samey and the roses were often limp. Arena rewards for spending are also generous so I can surprise people with a bouquet for greatly discounted prices.

grownup2 · 21/02/2021 01:49

Recent favourites from Arena - including the little Christmas tree with Dec's.
